1/48+fp's, 1/60, And 1/72 Picture Gallery Pt 2
mister_e replied to VF-18S Hornet's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That looks really good. I like the markings you used. Are they stickers or decals? Also, how did you get rid of the skulls on the tailfins? -
Probably ain't gonna happen. I actually only say that because everytime I've said that Yamato probably won't release something (GBP-1S, Cannon Fodder, Angel Birds) they end up doing it. So here's to hoping they prove me wrong again . I really want a VF-1D
-
Why does everyone keep talking about the Angel Birds 1A like it's not canon???
-
Haha! Also, top right picture, the box missles on left side are mounted backwards while they're on correctly on the opposite side. Definitely should've had someone who knew what they were doing take the pictures.
-
Aw man! They (Yamato) messed up. The Hikaru and Max 1A's had a white head laser, but the Kakizaki in the pics has a black/gray head laser. First there was the different box art, now this? Thanks for the pics!

Pardon the ignorance (I've never seen Patlabor), but are these large mecha or just slightly-larger-than-human suits? Just curious since I see they use shotguns and pistols
-
So did it come with the TV hands? I thought I saw a pic awhile back that looked like there were no TV hands

Most games from third party developers (i.e. not Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo) are going to be released for as many platforms as possible in order to maximize sales. Just because a game is released for PS2 and Xbox360 does not mean that they are equally good/bad. Sometimes the difference is only skin-deep (i.e. scaled back graphics), but many times the differences are quite substantial. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warrior, for example, is a highly acclaimed 360 game that was also released for the PS2 and original Xbox, but the latter versions are considered very poor games and not very much like the 360 version at all.

You could always import Takara's MP-01 (link) You could also pre-order the upcoming Takara MP-04, which is basically a MP-01 with the trailer (link) -

Shadow of the Colossus Figures
mister_e replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Those are pretty cool. Shadow of the Colossus was definitely one of the most memorable gaming experiences of my long gaming life. Not sure I'm too interested in buying any figures though. Oh well, they look nice and I'm sure someone will be interested -
The Hikaru 1A was the first 1/60 released and it was bone white. After that, all subsequent 1/60's used a duller, almost-gray color. I suspect the reason for the change in color was due to how easily the Hikaru gets all dirtied up. Seriously, I have one that I only handled twice and it looks like I let a 3 year old handle while eating chocolate cake. I exaggerate, but it does have some nasty smudges

A little weirder yes. The Camaro went out of production in 2002 and won't return until 2009. That's 7 years without a new Camaro, while the Mustang has never gone out of production.

Those pictures do not do the toy ANY justice. They do, however, show that the weakest mode for these is fighter (especially when viewed from a side profile). I have two now (Max 1A and Hikaru 1S) and I like them. They're no Yamato 1/48, but they're nice for $15-$20. I saw someone mention that for $20 you can get a superior TF Alternator. That's simply not a fair argument in my opinion. Transformers have a much larger fan base and much larger production runs so they can be cheaper. For instance, you can get a Masterpiece Starscream for less than a 1/48 VF-1 or 1/60 VF-0. If we're gonna make issue of recent price points, let's be fair and start taking issue with Yamato's skyrocketing rates as well.

Unfortunately I do remember it. Now I have an intense anger towards you for making me remember

There are not multiple/different colored DYRL FAST/Strike parts. The greenish color is the color Yamato chose. Not sure why they're not a dark blue, in DYRL the FAST/Strike parts are clearly a dark blue. Meh, who knows?
-
Psst, check out the The 2nd Coming thread. We even have battroid pics now
-
I'm a bit dissapointed with battroid mode. It is no way near beefy enough. I think Yamato made a lot of compromises to the battroid mode to pull off a great fighter mode. Pretty much par for course for them though, so I was already expecting it. Oh well, the YF-19 probably relies on more anime magic than any other mech in the Macross universe, so this is still an amazing accomplisment. I must give credit where credit is due. I'm still planning on purchasing this toy, but my preference for battroid mode was (probably unrealistically) hoping for more.

Why are there so many named human characters listed? As far as I'm concerned, the only non-Transformer actors/actresses should be Extra 1, Extra 2, Extra 3, etc.

Official Transformers Super Thread 3

Now I know why Bay wanted to keep people from seeing the bots until the movie was released, because now I have no interest in seeing this film. I was cautiously optimistic up to this point (even though I was worried by the rumors I was hearing), but this is like spitting in my eye. He hasn't "reimagined" G1, he's butchered the living hell out of it with these Bionicle figures. Even signing Peter Cullen can't bring me to the theater to watch this man single handledly destroy some of my most treasured childhood memories. It's kind of funny that in the 80's the animated bots had to be over simplified because it would be tedious/difficult to animate figures with so much detail. Whereas now, the toys have to be simplified because you can't make a decent toy with that many small moving parts. EDIT: spelling -
Not for me. The 1/55 just is not a very attractive toy by todays standard (IMHO of course). It still holds a special place in my heart, but that's only due to my childhood nostalgia of Jetfire

Why so many? I don't mean it out of disrespect, I just am really curious. I saw in member Godzilla's sig that he has like 118 1/48's, what would you do with that many valks? I'm being super serial -
You're using electronic devices and pieces of complex machinery with tons of moving parts in your attempt to discredit my original statement? ooooookay, whatever. No, I've never had any TOY break on me for no reason. There is always a reason.
