You can probably find just as many on-screen shots of Hikaru's VF-1S with white head lasers as you can with dark gray/black. You'll notice that the shots in which the head lasers appear to be white are generally far away shots, thus the lasers are white probably just so they don't disappear against the very dark backgrounds. I think Yamato got it right on the Hikaru 1S. Of course, there's still some who feel that his VF-1S should have a black heatshield, but that's another debate for another thread White head lasers Dark gray/black head lasers

It is starting to look that way isn't it? I guess that's okay though, even though they may not be quite as nice as the 1/48's, there are quite a few 1/60 VF-1's for those who like to have all of their stuff to scale

Nice pic eyesonme78. I just got a low viz 2 myself. I love it, more than I thought I would even. I was thinking about picking up a couple of the Yamato stands. Question - can you mount a valk in fighter mode and keep the gunpod attached, or do you have to remove the gunpod?

I had a similar thought. I was thinking it would be neat to see someone customize a few of these into the various Yamato non-cannon 1/48's (i.e. low viz 1, low viz 2, and stealth). I have no customizing skills, but I'd like to see someone else do it. We heard about wave 1 and 2 so long ago, but now that wave 1 is out and wave 2 should be out any day now, it's weird that we've heard nothing about any future waves. I'm getting worried that these didn't do well and the line may get dropped. I hope not.

It says it's 1/6 scale. Doesn't that make it to scale with the 12" Robocop? I guess Robocop might be a little taller than 6' in real life, so maybe at 12" he's not quite 1/6, but it's pretty close

I do hope so. Looking at the pics it looks like the tip is a dark color. Maybe Hayao had to paint the head laser white or maybe he added the dark spot at the tip....sure hope its white

Possible VF-1D variants: 1. Normal version 2. Virgin Road version 3. Angel Birds version 4. Some other cool non-canon scheme(s) Surely that's enough variants to justify the cost for Yamato! I want a VF-1D already!! But I don't want to fork over the $80+ for a conversion kit plus $120+ for another VF-1 + $$$ for someone to do the conversion and paint it for me.

Heresy! The 1/48 line will not be complete until we have a VF-1D and, if we're really lucky, a VT-1 and VE-1 as well

Believe it or not, I've heard lots of Trans fans actually say that they would be more accepting of the hip kibble if that was in fact the case. If it had a purpose, such as actually holding swords, then I think people wouldn't mind it near as much. Obviously, some people would still not like it, but you can't please everybody

I really feel bad for people who are fans of both real-world aircraft as well as fictional transforming robots. It seems like the two will always be at odds with each other. While there are some lines that are rooted in realism, and others that come close (like MP SS), it seems like the designers of said robots usually aren't hard-core aircraft fans, so there will most likely always be things that bug the more knowledgable. Myself, I know squat about real planes. I do, however, think SS would look nicer if they had used gray instead of the blue-green. Maybe I'll wait for MP-05 Skywarp (we all know it's gonna happen )

Very well done. I like the Hasegawa markings better also. I really envy you guys who sticker/decal up your 1/48's. I just can't bring myself to do it for fear of messing up. Again, nice job
