I'm not sure what you mean by this comment. What about the 1/72 scale? Are you referring to the Bandai HCM's or the Hasegawa model kits?
-
According to what I've heard/read, the 1/48's without FAST packs retail for under $100 US in Japan (according to monkey-nugget in this thread), whereas they typically go for around $130-$160 US at most online retailers.

Say awesome Macross Masters (no relation to the Robotech Masters ), Shawn and Graham, what happened to the update we were supposed to get to the main site during the week of Christmas? The toys section is quickly becoming out of date. Missing reviews for the 1/60 VE-1 & VT-1, the 1/48 FAST packs, 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru, 1/48 VF-1J Hikaru (with and without FAST packs), K&M and CM figures, etc. I'm only razzing you guys, I'm sure you're very busy playing with your valks, err.....I mean busy working. I, and many others, love this site and I just wanted to say thanks.

It doesn't matter what the scale is, it is still physically larger than a 1/48 VF-1, which means more materials (presumably ALOT of die-cast for the legs) which means higher prices and higher shipping costs due to the weight/size.
-
Yes, I think it's pretty popular opinion that the Yamato stickers leave alot to be desired. I do not plan to put them on my Hikaru 1S, I will buy some of the stickers that Takatoys makes. This serves two purposes, first I get better stickers and a better looking valk, and secondly I get to keep my valk MIB w/unapplied stickers .
-
I personally think it's a much better plastic. Feels less "toyish" if that makes sense. But since the 1/48 is almost totally plastic (with the landing gear and swing bar being the only die-cast) it is REALLY light. Feels more like a model kit than a toy.

They are not bad per se. I like the two I have (Rick and Roy). But, I do have to admit that they are my least favorite of all the available lines. This is how I rate them (just my own personal opinion): 1. Yamato 1/48 (hands down, there really is nothing else even close) 2. Yamato 1/60 (still gotta love the detail and articulation) 3. Bandai/Taka 1/55 (nostalgia) 4. Toynami 1/55 (nice gerwalk mode and nice packaging)

Hmm...well, I voted toys because that's where I spend most of my Macross money, but I do buy other things too...
-
I definitely like to consider myself unbiased. I even like the Toynami MPC's, which is almost a sin to admit on these boards. No matter what anyone says, and no matter how cool the 1/48 is, I cannot see myself abandoning my other valks. I still plan to complete my 1/60 collection (only the VT-1 and VE-1 left). It just makes more sense, to me anyways, to have a complete 1/60 collection and only get a couple of 1/48's as centerpieces. For me at least, the 1/48 is just too expensive to buy them all, but I definitely envy those of you who can & do.

First picture I've seen that showed the pilot. The pilot doesn't look like it will be highly detailed or articulated. Still cool though.

Why did toynami make the head lasers red??? that looks kind of fugly if you ask me. I only have the Rick and Roy MPC's, but Rick's head lasers are not white (thank God).

I got my first 1/48 Yammie for Christmas and I just wanted to tell you guys: OK, so you guys were right. The 1/48 is the BEST valk toy on the market in terms of design and asthetics. I must admit, that at first I seriously doubted that it could be THAT much better than my 1/60's, but of course it is. I still don't, however, understand some people saying that the 1/48 has made them dislike the 1/60's. I do still like my 1/60's, I just admit that the 1/48 is better. Oh well, guess that's a different topic eh? I should be getting my FAST packs from Tam @ Twinmoons sometime next week (early I hope ).
-
Yes. I'd also like to wish all a Merry Christmas (for all that celebrate Christmas at least )
-
Currently my favorite is the 1/60 Super VF-1J Hikaru. Soon it will be either the 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru w/FAST packs or MPC Convoy. Hikaru is presently wrapped and sitting under the Christmas tree and Convoy is still on pre-order. So for a short while Hikaru will be the undisputed favorite. EDIT: spelling

Wow! That's really cool. Seems like the trailer's a tad to small though.

Yike! $50 for the armor? And that is for the 1/60 version. Hate to see how much it is for the 1/48 version. Well... duh. GBP armor covers quite a bit of valk. And considering that the FAST packs for the 1/48 run about $60-$70... I'd expect the GBP 1/48 armor to be no less than $100+... but it will be worth it. You guys talk like it's already been announced

Look at the picture on this one: Original YAMATO Macross VF-1A 1/48 Hikaru JET .

Bandai then huh? I guess I was wrong then. Oh well. I'd like to have a couple. I wonder if they've been released already and, if so, who has them? Oh, if only I could read Japanese writing...
-
Ahh, nevermind. Upon further inspection, I noticed the English words "Third Mission" so that must mean it's part of the next K&M series.
-
I was just browsing the magazine section at MW, and I noticed this page from the January issue of Dengeki Hobby dipicting a Strike VF-1S Hikaru (very bottom right of the page). Anyone know who makes this? Is it part of the 2nd K&M set? It does appear to be pretty small, and it doesn't look like it can transform, but it looks pretty sweet...at least in these pictures. So, anyone know more about it? Can anyone read the article and let us know what it says?
-
This leads to a question: if I have a 1/60 valk without FP... will I be able to install the GBP over my old VF-1A Hikaru v1.0? Which 1/60 version is needed? does it only fit on the VF-1J's? Thanks in advance, Manuel My guess, and this is only a guess, is that the GBP armor's boosters will plug into the same holes as the super armor boosters did. That would mean you would need a FP-ready valk (any of the 1J's, the Strike 1S, 1D, VE-1 or VT-1).
-
Freakin' awesome pic man. I love that.

Yea, and on top of it all, it looked like the 1J modeling the armor had some changes to its shoulders. I'd vote for the super armor. While no one knows for certain (except Yamato...and maybe Graham, but he's not talking), the general concensus was that the shoulders were NOT modified but, rather, the shoulder armor comes molded to a "fake" shoulder that slips over the original shoulder. Think about it, if Yamato physically modified the shoulder on the 1J, it wouldn't be able to transform. Also, we already know (it's all but been confirmed) that the GBP will be sold with and without a valk. Why would they sell the GBP with a valk and NOT sell the GBP without the valk? But....as I said, I could be wrong.

SV-51's feature in Macross Zero ep. 3
mister_e replied to Final Vegeta's topic in Movies and TV Series
That's because it's not. Yeah, Shin had already tossed the gunpod at this point in the episode.
