  1. Whoa, is that second picture Five Star Stories? Do you have a 1920 x 1200 version of that?
  2. The Battroid mode cockpit of the YF/VF-19 Excalibur is not oriented horizontally like the VF-4 Lightning III. The transformation system of the YF/VF-19 is such that the cockpit rotates forward rather than backward like a VF-1 Valkyrie. The YF/VF-19 nose tip swivels 90 degrees to sit roughly horizontally in Battroid mode, but the rest of the cockpit swivels back to a vertical postion, acting as the battroid mode "spine". The YF/VF-19 pilot seat is rotated forward for Battroid mode, flying face first into what was the floor of the fighter mode cockpit, LOL The VF-25 has a very similar cockpit transformation, but the cockpit in Battroid mode rests a little bit lower than in the YF/VF-19 Excalibur.
  3. While it's true there's a lot of magic involved, I can tell you a little about the "mechanism" for the DYRL-style chair. Basically, there is none; at least there is no "mechanism" UNDERNEATH the seat. If you look at the DYRL seat line art on my website, note the small art at the bottom right of this picture: http://www.macross2....1-dyrl-seat.gif You'll see the seat appears to almost float ever so slightly above the floor of the fighter mode. If my eyes don't deceive me, the only true "mount" (besides a small mound on the floor at the front bottom of the seat) is a single strut based on the floor that rises at roughly 75 degrees through the back of the seat. This strut rests within a darkened groove down the center of the seat back. You can see this groove in the line art and it appears you've also built this groove into your model (however it appears the bottom underside of the groove on your model is solid when it should be "open"). Anyway, hope that helps.
  4. Thanks for these videos. I've been exposed to the Mass Effect world by the discussion of coworkers and friends for the last week or two and since I've never played the series, I've no idea what everyone is so bloody angry about. Now I get it. It's like the Lost of video gaming. No wonder the internet is aflame recently
  5. I would see this film, but it's not something that grabbed my attention initally. I will say that Jennifer Lawrence is one of the best actors of her generation and I would watch this film just for her. Anyone who saw Winter's Bone would agree, in spite of the film itself. I hear The Hunger Games did killer at the box office! Something like $155 million in it's opening weekend, plus another $60 million internationally. Looks like everyone and their dog went to see it As a rule, any time a film adaptation comes of a highly popular Young Adult Book, Airplane Novel or a pick from Oprah's Book Club, I'm immediately skeptical. I know this may sound like I'm criticizing popular mainstream fare, but it's more than that. I'm not sure how to describe it, but some works just have a style that indicates this isn't your kind of stuff. They feel like movies I'd enjoy if I didn't already have a long history and comfortable familiarity with the genre. Perhaps I'm wrong assuming as much about the The Hunger Games?
  6. Nothing to do but feel grateful for his contribution and the memories of his work.
  7. This is a movie that demands HD. Nice to see a Blu-Ray has finally been set in motion. Even without subs, I may just purchase this one.
  8. Good work so far! An ambitious project, to be sure. It makes me feel very proud when I see Macross fans using the material of the M3 as reference for fan creations. It was always one of the top reasons I built the site. I'd love to add one or two finished pictures of your Lego Macross to the "For Fans Only" if I may. I look forward to seeing more of your project.
  9. I think you just forfeited your man card.
  10. The internet can be so inspiring sometimes. It's amazing to see you go from Macross fan to mechanical/effects modeler. I love the DYRL-style UUM-7 Micro-Missle Pods on your model. A true Macross fan moment Your journey reminds me of Dan Trachtenburg's journey through our film blogs and now he's making a movie. It's great to hear you're doing well and doing what you like.
  11. I must admit, I wasn't expecting something so stylish, but I am rather amazed by this. That is a real eye-catching design that uses the graphic elements of Macross without being gaudy. I'm very impressed! It's almost like you're channeling the designs of "Last Exit to Nowhere". I'm the kinda guy that almost never purchases geek wear, but I can honestly say I would buy that hoody
  12. Wow, is there nothing Guy Pearce can't do? The subject matter of the speech itself is a little over-the-top villainous, but damn...that is one compelling performance. Definitely some of the best viral marketing I've seen since District 9's paper marketing campaign.
  13. That's actually pretty damn good. I was amazed how much I was engaged by the video. Nice work.
  14. Yeah, I'm not seeing anything bigger than 1,200, but great looking pictures regardless.
  15. With few exceptions, Chronicle is likely about as good as you're going to get in the cinema right now, IMO. But if you don't see it in theatres, I'd definitely prioritize this film when it streams.
  16. Oh fan art. There's no shortage, but feel free to submit and I'll add them.
  17. nightmareB4macross I was not aware of this variant. Fro obvious reasons, the minor variants can be rather hard to catalog because of their blink-and-miss-it nature. If you have any pictures, please let me know. VF5SS Gifs of what? Gifs of the vehicles in the list Seto posted?
  18. Thank you. I rebuilt your custom colors using the original PSD file for the VF-1J in Photoshop. The lines are much smoother. Is there a name you want for this variant? I noticed the name "Robert" in the JPEGS.
  19. Rabidweezil Maybe if Padme did anal, I'd find it more compelling Penguin Sounds pretty good. I may have to check it out.
  20. Is that what the dark colored VF-1 from the series was "supposed" to look like? Cavaliers is the name is it? Weird, but very striking. i like the nose with the black. I can't say I'll buy the toy, but this is definitely a color scheme worth building in the lineart. Very sexah!
  21. LOL! Yeah, I'm still around VF-15 Banshee If I can have your permission, I'd be honored to include your color variants in the fan art section of the Macross Mecha Manual. Full credit will be provided to you, of course.
  22. Okay, i'll try to get online soon to chat. It'll be great to catch up. Here's a little piece of some of the unreleased material I completed; an Old vs. New comparison of the VB-6 Konig VF-X2 Alternate Colors.
  23. Penguin Haven't seen Domu, but from the synposis it sounds similar. Regardless, a great little film all around. Glad more people are seeing it and really happy it's doing very well at the box office. Rabidweezil Most definitely. It was compelling in the way the character of Andrew changed throughout the course ot the film. At each point you could feel why he was going to react a certain way, and while you wanted things to turn out, I felt you wanted to see where the story would go when things went bad. If only Anakin Skywalker's transformation from man to monster was as compelling as Andrew's Graham I can understand that. The trailer is clearly made to get teen asses into the seats and does little to distinguish Chronicle from other disposable teen film fare. But I can agree with Penguin's post and say Chronicle is definitely a film of substance that stands apart by doing something different and doing it very well. If you don't see it in a theatre visit, I'd suggest making a point to rent/stream it when it becomes available on home video or streaming. At the very least it's worth a shot, which is not something that can be said for most films. Check it out. TehPW There was definitely more than a little Akira in Chronicle, but it is it's own film for sure. One funny thing I've read about Chronicle is some saying it's like an origin story for a super villain while some say it's a hero origin story. It's probably best described as both and yet Chronicle does better doing both stories than most films do with just one story
  24. Hey all, sorry there hasn't been much as far as updates to the Macross Mecha Manual. Real life has kept me away from Macross for a while. I appreciate all the continued interest and I want to assure everyone I am willing to continue work on the website. In fact, despire not actively working on the site for many months, I still have a substantial amount of unpublished material waiting to be added to the website. Lucky for me I keep it all chronciled in the offline website "updates" page. Otherwise I'd have forgotten what I had already worked on myself and not yet released, LOL Truth be told, the biggest hurdle preventing me from work on the Macross Mecha Manual website is my lack of a scanner. WIthout a scanner, I can't add new material or revise old work. When I got my new computer last year (my first in 9 years...YAHOO!), I sadly lost the capabilities of my old scanner. Long story short, the move from a 32-bit operating system (Windows XP) to a 64-bit operating system (Windows 7) has made my old desktop scanner impossible to operate, even in a VM environment. What's worse, I purchased and then had to return a new 64-bit scanner because it's incapable of higher than 600 DPI via the SOFTWARE (despite the scanner itself being HARDWARE capable of 4000+ DPI). As I've explained previously, I work in very high resolutions because I want the Macross Mecha Manual to be ejoyable in the decades to come as monitor resolutions increase. Typically I build my colored artwork in sizes from 3,000 to 4,000 pixels in size, which should keep the M3 relevant for the next decade or two (I hope!). Unfortunately that means I need a 1,200 or higher DPI scanner (in software AND hardware) to continue building ultra-high resolution colored art. Few people know about scanners in depth, so I've had a very hard time trying to find what I'm looking for and make it work. I'm going to look into a new scanner again, but if anyone has any insight or tips about scanners (especially the software side of getting high DPI scans from your scanner), don't be shy. A big thanks to everyone for keeping track of all the new stuff from the Macross Frontier movies. I've not even had the chance to see any of the new films myself, so I'm very much out of the loop right now. I can't wait to dive back into Macross.
