Based upon a lot of positive word of mouth, I decided to watch the new film Chronicle. If you've heard little about this movie (or have just seen only the trailer), I can say this is easily one of the best "super hero" films I've seen in years. Some basic info about the film can be found in the wiki link below (though don't read the details if you don't want to be spoiled): http://en.wikipedia....icle_(film) I will say just labelling this movie as a "super hero" tale - while descriptive as a sound bite - does the film a terrible diservice. Chronicle is so much more than that: in fact, it's fair to say this film is basically a live action Akira done right...in a way. The story of Chronicle is much more immediate and smaller than the story of Akira, but while the film eschews the broader evolution of humanity, social/political themes and human existence in Akira (for the most part), it does tell a very compelling "chronicle" of three young kids gaining super powers. What results is a very unrealistic premise explored in a very realistic way. The characters all act like real people would in the given circumstances and the performances of all the actors are spot on. The film can be incredibly funny but it also explores some dark stuff. You get a sense how the story will play out from the beginning, but that doesn't make any of the emotional beats any less poignant. I'd like to say more, but I don't want to spoil anything. I will say I was thoroughly entertained and enthralled throughout the film. I don't think I've ever felt this much elation at the idea of super powers as I was while watching the characters discover their abilities in Chroncile. For anyone who has ever had a dream of flying, you owe it to yourself to see this film. An online film commentator said recently in his podcast that all us geeks can rest easy now because a proper Akira live action story has been made. While it's not entirely accurate, there is some truth. If the live action Akira film ever happens and fails, Chronicle will definitely satisfy the same desire for that story on the big screen. Highly recommended.

Yeah, I'm the owner/operator of the site. If you were directly inspired by my color-coded transformation guides, I'm thrilled you've adapted it for your own creations. It's all I could hope for. Bravo!

Looking great. I love the color coding too. Keep up the great work.

Ah, glad to hear more of you saw it and loved it. It's a truly rare gem.

Wow. I like the art style and the transformation of the YFZ-21. With some refinement and more dramatic styling, that YFZ-21 is really something quite inspiring. I am VERY impressed.

Just saw the new film "Drive" from Director Nicholas Winding Refn (Pusher Trilogy, Bronson). I want to praise so much about this film, but I'm far too excited right now that it'll all come across as gushing and hyperbole. What I can say about this genre bending action thriller is worth all the glowing reviews you may or may not have heard about it. It has some incredible action set pieces, including several car chases that are at once stylish, gripping and very clever. The film pays hommage to classic action and thriller films of the 1980s in all the right ways, eschewing the trap of being a unwanted remake of an popular 80s flick or an uninspired Spielberg pastiche. From the fantastic 1980s-styled neon pink credits to the neo-synthpop soundtrack, this film uses the 1980s as inspiration for a modern action thriller without ever feeling derivative or mocking. I think most of you would truly enjoy the film and I can't recommend it enough. Check it out! P.S. Be careful who you take to this film. While the film is mostly somber and quiet, it's frequently VERY violent and shocking. Not for the faint of heart.

What ever happened to MW Co-Founder Shawn?

Not a bad sale. They do have quite a few good items in here. I still don't own a 1/60 Yammie. Now seems like the perfect time to purchase. They can't give away those awful GN-U figures
-
I didn't even know there were any unofficial figures for the Lancer. Either size looks plausible, so I don't really have much trouble with the Chronicle figure. Nice work.

Just saw this movie on Monday. It was amazing and a brilliant accomplishment of retro movie making. The filmmaking gags alone are worth the price of admission. The faded film, the boom mic gag, the awful color balance and contrast, the reused car crash footage (both of the WRONG car!), the phone receiver gag, lost footage and jumps in the middle of a chase sequence...I can't even remember them all. The acting was simply gut-punched funny and the dialogue was cheesy in all the right ways. If someone didn't know better they would swear this film was done in the 70s. Easily one of the best, most inventive comedies I've ever seen. If you're a film fan, you owe it to yourself to see this movie.

As always, simply astounding results. Well done!

Thanks. Glad you like it.

Not much for logos. But I did have to make an SMS Skull logo in order to properly complete the VF-25S Top View Schematic. Here is that logo.

Very nice work Damian. Well worth the wait. Thanks for sharing!

Relieved to hear everyone here is okay. I was reading up on it this morning before work and it sounds pretty bad. Already donated to the Red Cross. I hope the recovery goes well for all in Japan. Damn planet, it's never stopped trying to kill us.

Progress coming along nicely. Excellent work.

I must remember to get this ordered. I don't want to miss it. I hope they have the parked VF-25F fighter in the book. I love that painting.

I own and adore the first book. I can't praise it enough and always try to spread the love. This second book is money already spent.

Incredible work. The hand-held style camera is funny

Brilliant work chillyche. That is simply amazing. Okay, yeah I both know of, and have used, that technique. The Hollywood Amusement Ship was done in a similar way, albeit much simpler. Thanks for explaining.
