  1. You two may but most do not. Studios have noted this trend and respond to it. This is not to say that things do not change - the recent August hits of Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy have opened up the late summer as a contender time frame now. I also remember when Christmas was strictly for holiday movies and Halloween was for horror films and now horror films and big pictures are released at Christmas as well. All of this has to do with work and school schedules and network TV show schedules that are becoming less and less relevant year by year. Or to cut to the chase - someday soon blockbusters may very well end up being released year round.
  2. I'm hoping they get another shot with a lower budget. I think it is partly when the film was released - Trek is not a strong enough franchise to be put into mid summer like it was.
  3. Those who hate Nue Trek are probably going to be happy, with the numbers on this film roughly half those of the first film after this long of a release (and a larger production budget) this has a very good chance of being the last of them.
  4. Just watched this today and although it was not actually a good movie it was far better than I expected. The problem was they went for the cheap joke every time instead of letting something go without a joke in order to set up a good joke later. I guess that is the definition of an Adam Sandler movie. It had a lot of video game nostalgia but so does Wreck it Ralph and that is an excellent movie.
  5. I do remember - and the Enterprise D is now the second worst design in Trek (for a ship the show is based on). I also remember it took 3 seasons for TNG to get any good - most of those first 2 seasons worth of episodes are cringe worthy. So I can wait a season for this show to appear on some other service.
  6. My take, enjoyable but it dragged a bit in the middle. I will be looking forward to watching it on demand however (I'm up to purchasing movies online rather than on Blu-Ray from now on)
  7. Oh my, somebody should have thought about the initials for the name of the show (read that over on the Star Trek website)
  8. I didn't think it could get and dumber, I was wrong.
  9. The "we were in contact with" line is used a LOT when someone gets in a situation like this. They might very well have been in contact with someone but till it is written in ink and signed it means nothing. > And the fan film guidelines are, well, rubbish, and speak strongly of a corporate mindset that views the fans as mindless consumers of content. Fans ARE mindless consumers of content. I'll be doing so on Sunday in regards to this very franchise in particular. I may come off as uncaring but anyone trying to "further" the story of someone else's IP without a rock solid contract is a fool.
  10. That, of course, is their side of the story - and it is worth every bit of the ink the agreement was written on...
  11. How did I miss the outside the US line? Well, back on the cancel Netflix list and the new ST show - don't care if I ever see it.
  12. Perhaps - but it is totally impossible that ANYONE would still be using that ring tone... (first movie, Kirk stealing the car)
  13. I thought all those shows were on Netflix already? TOS and Voyager and Enterprise at least - I remember watching them. Good news on the new show being there, I was thinking of dropping Netflix (and may still if Amazon Video gets the new show too)
  14. Any film that comes in second on its opening weekend to a film in its second week of release is doomed.
  15. I have a chromecast and do not recommend it. The screen sharing feature is jerky and the audio often goes out of synch. Netflix - already have that on just about every other device. It also does not work in most hotels which is what I bought the thing for in the first place. Reminds me - I need to purchase the cable to attach my latptop to an HDMI port...
