Finally broke down and bought one of them new-fangled Vortex disc guns. Bought the Vigilon pistol. Really impressed by the range and accuracy. Now thinking of getting the Praxis or Lumitron. Had a couple of battles against my son. He used the Vigilon and I used my Alpha Trooper. He hammered me everytime. Graham

I've often thought it would be cool if all nations agreed to ban things like guided missiles, radar, jet engines and stealth to reducing spiralling defense procurement cost. Then I'd love to see with today's technology, how good of a prop driven fighter plane we could build, compared with the best WWII planes.eapons to be limited to machineguns, cannon, unguided rockets or unguided bombs. Resident Evil: Retribution (a.k.a. The New Sony Commercial)
Graham replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I actually, quite like the Resident Evil movies (except for the last one, which was just plain silly). I've only ever played a couple of the Resident Evil games and don't really remember them that well, so it doesn't bother me that the movies don't follow the games. The Death Race remake and it's sequel are also a guilty pleasure of mine. As much as I'm a huge fan of the Roger Corman original and expected to hate the remake, it and the sequel were actually much better than I expected. Graham- 50 replies

Milia was definitely much better looking in Macross 7! Graham

Why the heck was he rocking the plane from side to side like that after taking off? If I was a passenger on board I would have been pretty scared then (I don't mind flying, but get a bit nervous during take off and landing). Graham

Kawamori's pet AKB project-first footage!
Graham replied to Tochiro's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Whether or not it's a good anime, is irrelevant for me, the whole cutsey idol group thing is just not my cup of tea. Gimme a serious 'real robot' war anime any day. Graham -
Enough with the remakes already. I'd love to see more books made into movies: Anything by Peter F. Hamilton would be great, although would need a huge budget to film. Moorcock's Eternal Champion series, Iain M. Banks 'Culture' novels. Harry Harrison's Stainless Steel rat books etc, etc. Graham

I hope that was sarcasm about the Karate Kid remake. Did anybody even bother watching the remake? Graham Urghh........CG fest with slow mo Matrix style jumping. Looks like a PC game cut scene. Pass. Will stick with the original Arnie version thank you very much. Graham

Graham replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
3/4 of the way through and loving it. Definitely need to watch it at least one more time though. Best anime movie I've seen in a long time. Graham -
Why does Robocop even need a remake? The original movie is awesome. Graham

Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series
Graham replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I thought this season was far better than season 3, although still needed more clone-based episodes. I personally liked the General Krell arc the best, although the episode where they fought on speeder bikes with those cool sidecars that could pivot back 90 degrees against Commando Droids was pretty cool. I remember seeing that crash on the news when it happened. Reading up on that guy's career, he seems a real dick and should have been grounded long, long before. Graham

I don't have any Aoshima/Toynami Tread toys, only CM's Tread & Legioss. To be honest the Aoshima/Toynami Tread looks too blocky to me and having the Tread's cockpit folding exposed on the chest really kills it for me. I think CM's came up with a much more elegant soluton for the Tread's cockpit in Armo-Soldier mode. Graham

To be honest, the Hi-Metal line didn't really impress me very much. The VF-19 toys had a nice battroid mode sculpt, but the fight mode was pretty horrible. Yamato really nailed their VF-19 sculpt. Bandai however IMO, did a horrible job with the overall shape of the cockpit, plane nose and area behind the cockpit. Just wrong, wrong, wrong. Then of course there was the whole fiasco with the inability to connect the gunpod in fighter mode and the cop-out 'sit the plane on thevlanding gear' solution they came out with. The VF-1 was a bit better, but the glued on intake on mine really killed it for me and I would rather pay slightly more for the 1/60 or 1/48. If they had concentrated on other more unique VFs besides the VF-1, maybe the line would have done better. Graham

I'd pay to see that Hungry Hippos movie. That is all kinds of awesome. Graham

I think it's pretty cool that there is a movie about Yamato still making toys in the year 2199. Wonder what sort of awesome Macross toy's they'll make by then! Oh wait........ Graham
