The decal sheet for the VF-19 model kit has a lot of large, obnoxious FIRE BOMBER decals. I'm glad Bandai showed some restraint for the DX.

So, I've got this guy coming. It shipped on 14 May and it has been sitting in customs for four days now pending delivery sometime between the 27th and the 2nd, a bit longer than usual for Showz products, especially given my geographical proximity to LAX here in WA. I'm guessing, given the trade war and subsequent difficulties placed on ports, with shipments being more sporadic, these sorts of delays are going to become commonplace. Logistics notwithstanding, this is an exciting piece for any G1 fan, as due to HG's stranglehold on the sales of VF-1 toys and likenesses here in the West, it presents a rare ability to get a modernized VF-1 Jetfire toy via a KO of Yamato's 1/60 VF-1 w/ FAST Packs. It's not 100% accurate, as the leg and FAST pack deco reflect the Macross livery rather than Jetfire's custom deco. I figured by now, with this having been announced last year, that Toyhax would have a sticker sheet to remedy those shortcomings ready to go by release, but not yet apparently. I've little doubt, however, that they'll come out with a set to address the issue. Anyway, this is a nice middle finger to HG, of which I'm always a champion, and the scale of the 1/60 works pretty well with CHUG or MP, if one considers the vast scale differences between the G1 carbots and the old 1/55 Chunky Monkey. Actually, realistically, in jet mode it scales pretty well with CHUG carbots and I wish from the very beginning that the toys had all been in RW alt mode scale, for the most part, rather than scaling everything to bot modes. I realize that's a big ask, as the toys would be more expensive and take up more shelf space by din of their larger sizes, and bigger would not necessarily equate to better engineering or adherence to RW jet aesthetics, which is what I would both hope for and expect. The argument is moot, however, and I celebrate Jetfire as a bit of an anomoly amidst the G1 toy releases and this modern equivalent. After a long wait, I'm looking forward to finally having him in hand.- 9280 replies

Seems Bandai have really toned down the Tampo printed markings for this one, which is actually fine for the Fire Valk IMO. But, if they later release a DX VF-19S and VF-19F, I'm actually hoping for a bit more Tampo printing.

I fear I'm unfamiliar with Mr. David's work. Nevertheless, the loss of a creative person, especially one who had such an impact in their field, is truly lamentable, a loss to culture and society as a whole. With that, I simply offer my thanks, adieu, and condolences to all who loved him and for whom the loss is monumental.

@pengbuzzGreat to see that old shuttle getting some much needed 'Love of Buzz!' That command deck is going to look good tucked into there. Real nice and subtle shading @derex3592.

Looks great!

Wow, so young too. 2099 and X-Factor were both great.

I poured some elmers glue on mine. From time to time some of the dried up glue rubs off like dandruff. No biggie.

UPDATE: Well, after getting a housing lawyer involved (pro-bono, of course), certain "mistakes" were admitted to have been made on the part of where we live. So at least we don't have to worry about that, and I don't need to start packing up my stuff and potentially deleting it from my collection. At any rate, I came across an old space shuttle model kit for 2 bucks recently (last 2 bucks, but it was worth it!) at the thrift store. It was priced that way because someone had glued it together badly. A lot of work was needed; the cockpit was utterly barren and devoid of much detail. To that end I used masking tape, acrylic paint and a couple of old fighter pilot figures (1/72) that I used some old orange craft "puff paint" on to fill it out. Meantime, the cargo bay door hinges disintegrated after a few uses. I pulled some brass hinges off a few old cigar boxes that the tobacco shop gives away for free as replacements: The bay itself needed much work: The nose was just three depressions (to add to my own depression ); had to drill those out: And I nearly called Scotty to help with her engines: Stay tuned folks, Major Tom will be right back...

Seconded. I've got pre-orders with half a dozen companies. 2025 is shaping up to be especially painful.

They are in a spiral. Less people filling the seats means they have to charge more for the warm seats they do have, which means less people filling the seats, and thus they need to charge more for the even fewer warmed seats...

@Chas Wow, that looks great! It came with tiny Valkyries and monster? That’s so cool. What you working on next?

Nice job on the SDF-1!! Really looks incredible! BTW: I've found on fogged flat coats, a second spray of it can often clear up the cloudiness (test a very small part of the clouded area first).

Paypal, HLJ, Bandai, etc. use a crappier exchange rate and pocket the difference if you pay in another currency. Like the above post said: always pay in yen. If you buy a lot of stuff from Japan, it's best to use a CC that has zero foreign transaction fees.

Sad to hear this. To me and many others, He defined the Hulk for an entire generation, made Aquaman and Captain Marvel cool and created my fave Spiderman variant, 2099. I know he’s had a lot of health issues, especially recently. May he rest in peace.

Wow, I think I had recently seen his name on one of the smaller comicon guest lists not too far back. He was involved with quite a few comics an shows from what I remember
