This is the part that also sits wrong with me. To my knowledge the Death Star 2 is much bigger than the Death Star 1 (and much cooler looking with a much better looking main laser shot). Yet we have dioramas from both movies, and Darth Vader’s meditation chamber was shown to be on the Super Star Destroyer from ESB. I know why they did it, because they wanted to catch all iconic scenes from both Death Stars but for me this makes the set even less desirable, because it is confused by its own identity what it wants to be. So it is clearly the Death Star from ANH. You can tell by the shape of the laser bean and because in the hull section below the main laser there is no interruption in the hull, where it is not finished shed. And while I could argue away that the first Death Star had an Imperial Shuttle (even if there were no Imperial Shuttles in ANH I believe) and a similar looking landing bay than the one from ROTJ the throne room diorama sits really wrong with me. In the first movie there was little talk about the Emperor or that the Death Star was meant as his personal vessel so I find it really off putting to have it there (again I understand why it is there). It could be that there was a scene with that throne room on the first Death Star in other media (and the meditation chamber) that I am unaware of.

Maybe it was ChatGPT-5 being retrained after the laughable release this week. AI companies love data and their bots will scrap from where ever, how ever. There was a report out this week that Meta has a new lawsuit for training their AI on torrented p0rn (probably to train their filter 🤷‍♂️). You can bet AI companies are just flat out ignoring and bypassing htaccess and robots.txt.

You prolly need to try and implement various tarpits on the site to at least contain these AI crawlers. -
Yes I saw multiple AI bots crawling the site starting this last week, hammering the hell out of it. I've got htaccess and robots blocking as many as I can, but they are just ignoring. We have a LOT of data here these last 25 years, 1.6 million posts and hundreds of thousands of pictures. If any AI really cares about Macross its a lot of stuff to digest!

I got my VF-27ÎłSP Revival and am little disappointed that the hips were not as tight compared to the recent VF-25F Tornado or Armored Ozma Revival release. The legs aren't floppy but can definitely tell they're loose.

Why is this $1000? You can buy the entire Titanic for under $700 and this thing is only a slice of the Death Star?!

It's happening all over for the last week or so, so much so that a bunch of web hosts are now saying they will block AI crawlers by default. -
Yeah. That's why I said "if." It would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath on any of that.

Could be a bunch of people training their AI's. It happened to me at the end of December on my small—very small—website (bots were using up the monthly allotment of bandwidth in a matter of days). It stopped when I added a no-bots file that excluded everything but Google. Here's the script that I used in the robots.txt that stopped the hemorrhaging: -

The largest section is the Shuttle landing from ROTJ. But why is Vader's meditation chamber there (beneath the meeting room)? It also includes figures of Galen and Krennic on the base.

Wow, My Dress Up Darling was great yesterday. This show is my favorite this season. -
We are getting hammered with bot traffic all of a sudden, trying to wring it in but apparently we've been 'discovered' ughhh

Problem there is that they would probably never produce those designs anyway. All they seem to produce are the most common and popular versions that Yamato made in the first place.
-
Yeah, happy I can skip that mess. I'd rather they make something actually accurate to some of the designs that they still struggle with. Speaking of accuracy though.. I'm gonna be that guy and point out that it's cute that they included the ROTJ throne room in an otherwise ANH Death Star I.

simpily wait for reissue or mod one myself.

Ask yourself this? How bad do you really need it? Lets be honest, once you get, you'll play and admire it for a week, and then your attention will be on the next thing, and 20 things later, it will be well forgotten to the point of an ordinary vase in your home.

Yeah. I like the design a lot. Has sort of an Invid vibe with that eye and curves.

Ruri Rocks continues to be excellent edutainment. IMO, it's great that it's not just gushing about mineralogy. The series frequently delves into the geology behind the formation of the minerals du jour and the scientific method(s) used to identify them and track samples back to a larger vein or deposit. Most importantly, it shows the pitfalls of taking shortcuts, using sloppy or improper methodology, and making assumptions and shows that even the experts can be wrong if they draw conclusions without all the facts. It's not just Ruri being on the receiving end of a lecture, she's actively involved and learning and making worthwhile contributions in her own right by thinking outside the box. (It's kind of making me miss Mythbusters, in a way... particularly in the sense that there's nothing wrong with being wrong as long as you're applying the scientific method and applying what you learn to refine your hypothesis.) -
@Papa Rat That is a cool, funky looking lil ship.

I would buy some if Arcadia never reissues some of the older classics like the VF-1D Virgin Road valk, the VF-X, the Cavaliers, VF-1J cannon fodder/mass production, etc etc.

[Netflix] ONE PIECE Live Action Series
Seto Kaiba replied to no3Ljm's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, it looks like we're getting at least the first half of the Alabasta Saga there... Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, and Little Garden are all in the trailer. One thing to love about Netflix's One Piece adaptation... their attention to detail. It's hard to see, but you can see in that brief shot that they've even included the bands of cigars on smoker's arms and on the front of his coat.- 102 replies

It's just confusing semantics, it's limited to 500 units. The second wave is the last 300 units that are shipping in September.

Afaik/read Toynami has not said anything about a second wave of sale. On the website listing (since taken down)/email update they stated the remaining orders would ship end of August/beginning of September. Posts on fb groups mentioned only the first two days of orders (100 each day, Wednesday Preview night, and Thursday) were the first to go out, orders placed Friday, Sat and Sunday were end of August/beginning of Sept, totaling the 500 units. It would be nice and hopefully Toynami will open up another set/batch of orders maybe for NYCC if they make an appearance there. Finishing up the IMAI 1:720 scale Quel-Quallie Theatre Scout Pod. Decided to brush paint it with lacquers and did a small amount of acrylic on the stripe markings. Decals in this kit were not my friend. I had some disintegrate during application but not surprised. It was a fun build regardless. Wish it came with a stand so I ordered a very simple generic one that should be here next week. I may go in and weather it beyond the simple oil wash and layers of thinned lacquers I used. I may also put a gloss coat on it but undecided. It’s hard to capture on my phone the subtle texture of the lacquer painting on dark areas of color, but it really adds something.
