  1. So, I'm just discovering this thread, and glad I did. About a year or two ago I started a process of gradually re-buying most of the games I once enjoyed but had long since sold off, and several that I never had back in the day. It's been great experiencing them again, and sharing with my kids. I only ever had (and beat) the first one. I actually still have my original boxed copy, along with a few other boxed NES games that somehow were tucked away in a closet at my parents house until just last year. The original Ninja Gaiden was hard, but not as bad as something like Castlevania III -- that is a whole 'nother level of hair-pulling. Though it both games, it's totally a matter of having (and not losing) just the right sub-weapon. @davidwhangchoi How are you enjoying Scrambled Valkyrie for SFC? I picked that one up a while back, and since getting in Macross more recently, have been wanting to play through it again, now that I actually know who Hikaru is! I also have Macross 2036 for the PC Engine, though it's my initial impression that it's not as good in gameplay as SV. Seems like some here think it's better, perhaps because it's got more of a storyline?
  2. Nice to see Bandai expanding the HMR line into more series. I haven't yet seen Mac II, so not as much interest on my part, but the VF-2 is a good looking design, and I can understand the excitement given the relative lack of VF-2 toys out there. Personally I'm in with those who are disappointed to see the Tomahawk delayed further, and wondering when in the world we will see the VT-1 and VE-1 that were teased long ago. But again, looking at the big picture, the way Bandai is growing the line is a good thing. Realistically I think they are trying to hook more fans into the line through connections to other series, thus expanding the pool of potential buyers for any future releases. They probably know the demand for destroids and 2-seater VF-1s, and may be holding them for a while as a future payoff, to generate more interest in the line, and also to guard against people jumping off the HMR train once their SDFM & DYRL collections are complete.
  3. I wholeheartedly recommend using something like a spreadsheet to manage inventory. What line it's from, what model it is, where/when you got it, how much it you paid, current value, etc. I've already started one for my modest Macross collection. (My spreadsheets for my retro video games and vintage Lego sets are a bit longer. ) It's incredibly helpful to keep a reference of what you actually have, as well as a reminder of how much you've actually spent. If you're talking about handing down a collection in the case of an unforeseen event, it could also really benefit someone there. I've even considered if I ever got to a hard spot financially, I'd know how much I could potentially "cash out".
  4. Always exciting to see new box art, especially when it's so nicely done. Have any of Tenjin's HMR paintings appeared in any of the 3 different Valkyries art books? I've been thinking about picking those up, and thought maybe Third Sortie included a couple of HMR images.
  5. You have some Spartans, too, right? At any rate, that is one impressive list. I'm trying to imagine the amazing scene you could create with all of them together. Though you'd need an entire room!
  6. Thanks. With the recent announcement of the Arcadia M&M re-releases, I was thinking it might happen be that Arcadia would eventually re-release this super bundle as well. But who knows how long that might take, and also… …so decided to go ahead and hunt this one down. Thanks. And yep, pretty much. Thanks, I happen to agree.
  7. My first 1/60 v2! Shows a few signs of use, and I've only had time to just take the valk out, but I'm already really impressed.
  8. From looking at various sites it's a bit surprising to me that the VF-1J Max and Hikaru are still so readily available, especially Hikaru, who's still up on HLJ. Granted that many of the ones out there are not always MISB, or may be marked up a bit in price. But the supply on them seems more plentiful than any other HMR release, or perhaps the demand for them is lower? In contrast, the CF 1A released about the same time is now getting harder to find, likely due to army-building. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I have less experience in this hobby than many of you, but It tends to make me a bit less anxious to snag one during the PO window in the future.
  9. I was playing Mega Man X today and noticed that this low-level enemy resembles a certain Zentradi battle pod.
  10. It's definitely the one I most regret having missed out on. Given how much it's are going for now, I am hoping Bandai eventually releases the dark-colored armored VF-1A they teased a few months ago.
  11. Totally agree. I'll just have to live vicariously through the photos here, as I can't justify the cost of the premium finish version for myself. As a relatively new collector, I don't (yet) own any 1/60, and I'm sorely tempted to pull the trigger on the standard finish version, as NY has a really good price on it.
  12. Yeah, I'm wondering what the delay is as well. I'm hoping the final color leans more towards gray than purple, but based on the photos, it still looks good enough for me. I'm ready to order!
  13. One question I haven't seen answered yet... Do either the standard or premium finish come with option parts, like the previous Arcadia 1S Focker strike release? It appears not, but was wondering if someone could confirm.
  14. Looking good, @sh9000 I was just prepping some super parts today myself. Here's fighter mode.
  15. I've been thinking of when to show SDFM to my son. We're currently working through Transformers G1. He just turned 8, so I don't think he's ready for Macross yet, plus I am a bit more of a protective parent than many. He likes my HMR VF-1 collection, is intrigued by my Robotech DVDs (they have more colorful art than my SDFM AnimEigo set) and asks when he can watch "the show with the jets." While some may object, I may start with the Macross Saga of Robotech, as it's a bit more kid-friendly, and I'm not sure how well he'd do with subs.
  16. Cool idea, and impressive work so far. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
  17. All the great photos are starting to make me wish I'd gotten a Spartan. With limited funds and space, my plan was to just get my two favorite destroids: Defender and Tomahawk. Speaking of, where in the world is our Tomahawk PO?
  18. Very nice paint job. I'm thinking of doing this myself to my third one, making a 3-valk CF squad. I just need another Hikaru 1J to swap heads, and then I could make a custom 1A out of the Hikaru - like maybe Max, Alaska Base, or Angel Bird. More likely one of the latter two, since I'm guessing Bandai will make TV Max at some point.
  19. Maybe not one of the "weirdest" places, but I was watching the original Transformers with my son over the weekend, and in the Dinobot Island episode (part 2) Skywarp goes from jet mode into quasi-gerwalk mode for a couple of seconds as he descends, before going back to jet mode.
  20. Which do you have more of now -- Regults or VF-1A cannon fodders? I recently decided to get a third CF.
  21. Some may have already seen this, but I just noticed this Bandai Gundam hangar deck that looks like it might scale well with HMR, at 25 cm tall. It's modular, so you could build out a larger diorama, and there's a separate flight deck component as well. https://www.nippon-yasan.com/figures/20896-robot-damashii-side-ms-white-base-hangar-deck-ver-anime.html
  22. You and me both. Many of you guys have very impressive collections. Makes me wish I had gotten into Macross earlier, back when the price of those 1/60s wasn't so high. Plus I just don't have the storage space. (Two reasons why I'm loving the HMR line.)
  23. @Brick_Sash That is a fantastic design, and it's great to see the actual build. I used to be into Lego as a kid a long time ago, and have enjoyed building with my son over the last few years, but nothing as impressive as this! How did you source all the parts? BrickLink? I believe LDD will help you generate both instructions and a parts inventory, right? Also, do the wings swing out?
  24. Agreed, that's a fantastic shot. Also curious about the setup.
