Can’t be a Highlander movie without them in the soundtrack. It’s a really tough one for me there. The original was so great partly because of the soundtrack, but if they are trying to make a total reboot, maybe something else epic would work a bit better just because after seeing a new movie with such a similar soundtrack is kinda just gonna be a cheap copy rather than a total reboot. Problem is that there’s really no one as epic in the pop rock category these days, I think there are quite a few musically, but not vocally to carry that legacy and be able to write a rockin soundtrack. That being said Prnces of the Universe is still my favorite Queen song even if it has a big slice of cheese in the full version . It’s probably also my favorite movie theme song followed closely by Who Made Who and Danger Zone. The 80’s had great theme music Quote
Graham Posted yesterday at 02:19 AM Posted yesterday at 02:19 AM I love the original Highlander movie and it's Queen Soundtrack. Hated Highlander 2. Thought the live action TV series was OK. Can't remember any of the other movies or cartoons. I'm not generally a fan of reboots, but willing to be cautiously optimistic for this as it's Chad Stahelski directing and I'm a huge fan of the John Wick movies. Quote
Mog Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Slightly off topic: but the animated film Highlander: The Search for Vengeance is good little flick. It’s tropey as hell, but has enough fun action and an interesting enough story to make for an entertaining watch. Definitely far more entertaining than the live-action sequel films. A low bar, I know. But I wouldn’t mind watching it again. . . if I could find the damn thing for free on a streaming service. Quote

I remember seeing Highlander 3 in the theater and really liking it. But it's got an abysmal Rotten Tomatoes score, so maybe 15yo me was just happy it wasn't as bad as Highlander 2. As for the live action show, I remember it starting off pretty good but after the second season each season got progressively worse. Then the other two movies were sequels to the shows, not the first three movies. The first, Endgame, was not great, it sort of played out like a long episode of the show who's entire point was to get rid of Connor and replace him with Duncan, the show's main character. The second, The Source, was Highlander 2 levels of bad. Despite starting Duncan again, the creators of the show refuse to acknowledge the film as part of the show's canon. Quote
electric indigo Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I think the shooting of Highlander II in Argentinia and the crazy behind the scenes antics would make a pretty entertaining movie by itself. Quote

I actually liked the Kallus arc, a few later seasons’ eps, and of course, Methos. Dude was a fun, smart take on an idea. I did have to Wikipedia the seasons just to confirm what eps aired in what season. And yeah, there was a ton of filler. But kinda hard to come up with numerous variations on “new antagonist comes in, causes beef, and gets beheaded by the end of the ep.” 😛 Quote
Roy Focker Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago There's plenty of reasons to hate Highlander 2. But I recommend watching it again. Not for the story or for some of the acting choices. Watch it for the production design and cinematography it looks so much better than what today's films look like. For the scenes where they had money to spend Highlander 2 looks way too good for such a bad movie. Quote

A lot of bad movies from the 80’s and early 90’s actually look amazing and just blow away modern overly cg films. The angles and overall looks are still amazing and make watching older bad movies fun. Nowadays a bad movie comes out like the second Black Panther and I’ll never rewatch it because the movie had nothing going for it, not even visually. Although I have rewatched Highlander 2 several times and even though it’s bad, I still enjoy it Quote
Dynaman Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Highlander 2 was a TERRIBLE movie on it's own merits and an even worse sequel. Even Robocop didn't fall so far so quickly. I'll be giving this one a look (theater or streaming yet to be decided, reviews will determine which) but even the first movie ended up a far better film then the sum of many of the parts. The opening alone was cringe worthy. Quote
