Don't think I have ever seen someone try this...actually looks pretty good! :good:...I wonder if something similar can be fudged with the Yamato and HM molds?

I'll try it out with the HM, Fighter pose and all.

Cool.  Maybe a Macross Plus 30th Anniversary thread too.

Dusting the Old Yamato YF-21, the best looking bird in Macross. I have already forgotten how annoying the landing gear was.

I should give myself some time to take pictures of my birds.

Very nice pic, love silhouettes like this..
And agreed on the rear landing gears, it's surprising Yamato didn't implement any sort of locking mechanism as they are always particular about the gears.

My old setup, back when I'd just add more shelves to display my stuff:

large.gallery_3595_72_142388.jpg.4a1ab43e977ef794517e3dd419f782ce.jpg

I'd say pretty daring to perch the 21 like that for display, seeing that it can topple over easily haha. But maybe it's just my copy that has weak hips, perhaps it's a case by case basis.

Nah, I’ve had my fair share of hard to pose figures over the years.

But the old YF-21?  It was relatively easy to pose her.  Helps that she can hold a solid wide A stance as a starting base.  Never had issues with either bird falling from that shelf.

Semi-related:  I wound up adjusting my M&M Detolf cube.  Age and the interconnected dancing pose I got the 1/48’s in has weakened a few of the joints.  Still got the pose to work, but had to add a bit of crazy glue to tighten Milia’s hip a bit.

And all because they didn’t appear to be looking eye to eye with one another.

Who is the better pilot, Roy or Ozma?

Actually I'm not even sure if Roy did pilot that YF-29, as I never played Macross 30.

Just more 29, with couple of top down pics. The 29 in Fighter, especially with its Super parts, is a polarizing design for me because although it is based on the 25, I always felt it strayed a bit too far from a jet & has a more organic feel to its lines.

Yet it is one VF which has the best integrated Super Parts design, & looks much better with them than without.

Ozma’s colour scheme is gorgeous, with charcoal grey well matched with other greys & blacks.

On other hand, the newest 29 on the block Max’’s scheme brings out & highlights the best of the 29’s lines. I love how the whites flow from the chest all the way to the tail.

Despite occasional misgiving about its overall Fighter design, the 29 has the most interesting & diverse schemes of any VF toy. If not wrong, every one released so far has a unique paint scheme that’s not a straight up colour swap like what we see on other VF toys.

Roll out Isamu's alternate ride..

By itself, the scheme it is a nice homage to his YF-19, or rather a carbon copy lol. But in comparison to the other 29's, I kinda feel it is the plainest color scheme. Whether they make sense or not, it lacks the striking 'gills' along the side of fuselage, or the other organic looking touches like the Alto's white striping on the back that always look like a squid to me lol.

And the last in this series of YF-29s - Alto's ride, in Revival matte finishing.

I always feel the 29 looks quite unflattering from any angle around the rear. Even if disregarding the camera lens effect that accentuates it, it looks very back-heavy..

Which is why I like to capture it at angles around the front. Still, I always feel something is off about Alto's scheme, and it took some time to figure out why...

It wasn't until I suddenly remembered what someone mentioned before, either in these forums or elsewhere, that Alto's 29 is missing the black anti-glare area ahead of the canopy. Is it the only VF that's missing this? Perhaps it was an oversight by Kawamori.

I think the lack of any red trim on the nose also causes the back-heavy look.

Maybe if they added/extended the red trim to the sides, it would tie the front and back better together? :unknw:

I think you are right, it is the red that's predominantly at the biggest surface areas.
I pulled out Isamu's 29 again, and the back-heaviness doesn't look as egregious to my eyes. Paint scheme can really alter appearances..

Man, that's not just about the nose - valkaholism dictates that *everything* on a valk is a fact for drooling. And the VF-4, along with the yf-19... _exhudes_ a lot of those factors. Man, are those beautiful valks! And under your camera they look even _sexier_.
