Off white for DYRL and bright white for TV series releases. Bandai DX toys don't seem to have any difference in the shade of white, as far as I can see in pictures since I only own TV VF-1S and J. Butt see Bandai going bright white for the new TV VF-S. And the new revivial GBP seems like is is going to be off white and not the bright as the VF-1S I'm no expert on these matters. But my safe assumption is the VF-1's will always be white. The white on the DYRL movie were changed due to change of format. Meaning more budget to make it more 'cinematic' in approach for the movie versus the ruh production on the series. Also, white probably doesn't show as white on space like how we see it on Earth. It makes sense as well why Yamato did it that way probably to separate variants of it. TV and Movie. Remember, Arcadia released their initial DYRL VF-1's using white (a little bit of pinkish tint for technicality), rather than continue Yamato's off-white DYRL tint. For Bandai's DX, maybe they did it for consistency under Kawamori's supervision. Or maybe the whole time, since I'm not an expert as I mentioned earlier, all white VF-1's should've always been white -- Space or Earth models. I didn't bother since the silver is at least closer to white than the bare diecast on the DX line, so I just let it be. Don't feel like putting that much effort into an HMR. Always gives me the impression of them just being slapped on sloppily, or drawn with crayon. The numbers don't have that issue, but the markings have never felt very precise on the HMRs. Putting it side-by-side with the Yamato really makes it stand out. Even things like the little nose stripe tip look bloated, as if someone heavily over-sprayed the stencil. Just go to eBay and search "Macross decal" and it'll come up with a bunch of decal sets. Some of the decals are Yamato sticker sheets I scanned and scaled down and printed myself. You know how when you blow up an image it becomes blurry/pixelated because the data and resolution is still at whatever smaller image size it was originally?
