The upper panel with the head can pop off, and actually be displayed in an open position, but the panel just sits with friction. I had wondered about maybe some type of pin hinge to allow opening, but never did it. The pilot is charming, but I’m building the power suit in a closed position. I might return to the pilot later as a companion build to stand alongside the suit. Quote
joscasle Posted Friday at 06:48 PM Posted Friday at 06:48 PM Finish!!! Really good kit. Lots of movement with out using poly caps. I think is better than the plamax vf-1, not nicer but a better kit. Quote
joscasle Posted Friday at 06:52 PM Posted Friday at 06:52 PM The other kit I finish recently was the Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon Perfect Grade, about a year working on it. Hope you like it Quote

Also it’s a cool improvement that it doesn’t need polycaps. Gives me hope for further kits down the line. 49 minutes ago, joscasle said: The other kit I finish recently was the Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon Perfect Grade, about a year working on it. pengbuzz Posted Friday at 10:25 PM Posted Friday at 10:25 PM Just need to let the base dry; I applied Realistic Water™ by Woodland Scenics: May do some refining work on panel lines (nose is a bit lacking on them), but I can do nothing more with the color. It is what it is, and I'm not fighting with this anymore. My reference (courtesy "crackerjazz" on RPF): Quote
Papa Rat Posted Friday at 10:35 PM Posted Friday at 10:35 PM (edited) @joscasleThose look great! @pengbuzz love it! Oh and thanks for the recommendation on LA Awesome! It only took about 20 mins of soaking and the chrome came off without any scrubbing at all. Now rinsed off and drying. Much appreciated 👍 Edited Friday at 10:36 PM by Papa Rat Quote
Thom Posted Friday at 10:54 PM Posted Friday at 10:54 PM @joscasle What a hunk of... lovely plastic! A classic ship done right. @pengbuzz You have a real nice kitty right there! @Papa Rat That's just after the chrome stripping? Dang, I like that color combo just as is! Quote

It was a fun surprise seeing there was any color separation at all on this kit. Maybe it’s the same colors as the non “iron type” not sure. Quote

woodsider Posted Saturday at 02:39 AM Posted Saturday at 02:39 AM Used Purple Power to strip my Bandai C-3P0. Super easy and reusable. My Imai Glaug got the same colors. My Bandai repop got the white parts. Quote

Reminds me of something from Wayne’s world! Lol Wonder if IMAI was like, “well we have a bunch of this color so let’s use it.” Hahaha. @Big s Grey and white makes sense to me. So I am in phase two of putty, glueing, and sanding on this little fella. I think I need to shorted the cannon stand a couple mm. It looks a bit high off the shoulders but most of this is going to just be a straight build. Having fun so far. Edited Saturday at 03:07 AM by Papa Rat Quote

I remember the gray being a bit darker in the purple one, but it’s one of those things where the colors seem to change depending on the screen shot or the source. The wiki site is closer to the ones I remember, but I’d have to see it again in the show. I remember the box was really off from the ones in the show. here’s a screenshot of the purple one and it has the dark gray and also gray feet Edited Saturday at 06:32 AM by Big s Quote

Big s Posted Saturday at 03:36 PM Posted Saturday at 03:36 PM With all the talk about the Nousjadeul Ger, I was wondering if there’s any info on the pack in the right hip? The left hip has what looks like a simple armor piece, while the right looks very different like there’s a purpose Quote
F18LEGIOSS2 Posted yesterday at 11:51 AM Posted yesterday at 11:51 AM (edited) Quick test assembly for my beloved legioss gakken mod with extended knees, feet, and a much better cockpit ! Edited yesterday at 12:09 PM by F18LEGIOSS2 Quote

Papa Rat Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Did panel lines and a dark wash and will call it good for now. Want to add some chipping and basic weathering later. I’m happy with how this little buddy turned out. @Big s @Gabe Q Hey, thanks! 👍 Quote

A minor suggestion: perhaps a very light drybrushing with gunmetal lightened with a bit of silver on the grey parts, to give it that "slightly worn" combat-used look? pengbuzz Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago UPDATE- Top Gun F-14A and TOS NCC-1701: First up: Maverick's F-14 Tomcat; the MODEX numbers kept changing between "104" and "203" in the first half of the film, so I just chose one. I also chose the specific weathering pattern that depicted Maverick's plane when he went up against Jester the first time (the "white panel" on the center back). At this point, I just wanted it done! The white piece and hole are inset plastic plate and tube for the stand post; once I get more plastic welder, this will be reglued into place and the groove for the Sparrow missiles re-carved: On its' stand; used the last of my Realistic Water to try to make it look like the ocean: 1/ 537 TOS-E: Scale difference between the 1/650 version (original AMT model) and the 1/537 "cutaway" version: On stand: Comparison with the 1/537 Refit (sorry about the backdrop; it's all I have right now!): (sorry about the blurriness; my hand lately is not steady due to the nerve damage): Final pic of all three: two are Enterprise, and one launched from an Enterprise: Thanks for watching; see everyone next project!
