New Petty Challenger, looks pretty sweet. Could Richard Petty be the next Carrol Shelby? Probably not but the next Roush, maybe.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/11/first-p...arrett-jackson/

Not by a longshot. Petty's always been known as a racer, not a performance car specialist. Putting his name on special one-off cars won't really help much with Dodge's reputation, as compared to Shelby, Roush or Saleen's contributions to Ford.

True but Petty is starting a line of souped up Challengers so it is a start. Plus let's be honest Ol' Shel has about zero to do with any of the Mustangs besides putting his name on it and suggesting colors. Shelby, Roush, Saleen, etc. are companies that have engineers, mechanics, designers, that do most of the work. Jack Roush may be the final word on his Mustangs but he ain't on the computer designing parts or sculpting out the clay model. I think Petty's biggest Challenge is the stability of Chrysler itself and the fact that Petty Motorsports races Fords in Nascar now. Also all these tuners sell on their name no matter how much or little the actual person the company is named after is involved, if it performs on a consistent basis it will build a reputation on it's own.

It is actually a Six cylinder, but I needed to know if the Fuel injector cleaning would damage the engine or if its actually needed.

I'm not sure about what type of injector system the Buick Regal has, but since the car has a supercharger the owners manual, and the sign under the gas cap says premium unleaded only.

sorry, i switched subjects on you, my first sentence was regarding your buick, the remainder was regarding the new Mustang 5.0L V8. It was long rumored to have direct injection as part of Ford's greener efforts (like the new Taurus V6 direct injected twin turbo), but i suppose it never made it. I'm under the impression it'll probably find it's way on the motor in the coming years as hard pressed CAFE standards are ramping up to be.

Nightmare at Russo & Steel Auction:

http://www.azfamily.com/video/featured-vid...e-82364787.html

WHOA-HO-HOA, NELLIE!!

I imagine there was a great deal of lamentation and gnashing of teeth amongst the owners. Real-time reaction cameras probably would have shown insurance adjusters everywhere passing out where they stand...

2 words: Farmer's Almanac... <_<

That was a monster storm system...beat the @#&! out of us here in AZ. 7 feet of snow at my place <_<

These guys(auction company AND owners) had plenty of warning about how nasty this series of storms was going to be. The head in the sand approach turned out to be rather regretable...I don't see R&S getting many consignments next year.

All those beauties trashed...makes me sick :(

After months of speculation, arguments, etc., etc., Saab has actually escaped death and will now be run by the Dutch.

GM to Sell Saab to Spyker

Wonder what a small company with an 100 odd people can do with a manufacturer like Saab. Still Victor Muller is crazy enough to pull it off.

I'm sure it can't be any better/worse than when saab was going to go to Koenigsegg, i personally think it'll be sink or swim. Either Spyker will make Saab absolutely awesome, or it'll tank in the first year, i don't foresee any middle of the road success.

Carlsson Autotechnik, best known for their tuning works on Mercedes-Benzes, will unveil their own supercar at the Geneva Motor Show. The Carlsson C25 will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 6-liter V12 that generates 753 bhp and 848 lb-ft torque. The company claims a 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) acceleration of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 219 mph. Only 25 units of this car will be made. It does look a lot better than M-B's upcoming SLS AMG.

Hello,

I took some pictures of my 2010 Ford Escape, which I bought last week.

Ford is my personal favorite, and they refused to accept any government bail-out money. They posted a nice profit as well recently.

I decided to pay cash rather than make montly payments, especially considering you don't really own the car if you finance it. ^_^

You can see more information here:

Kelly Blue Book

I went with the Hybrid model with leather interior, 6 CD changer, remote keyless entry and I added 20" custom rims with Toyo tires.

I highly recommend the Ford Escape, and wanted a color other than the standard/boring black, white, red or silver.

Please PM or post if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Christopher B))

PS: Normally I buy V8 Mustangs, but they're gas mileage isn't great.

The last picture shows the (5) large boxes of valkyries/transformers that arrived from Hobby Link Japan. With customs tax the total came to $3,000.00 (I'll be uploading pictures soon in another thread.)

Anybody here into car stereos? I need a little help. Back in the day I owned a Corvette that came with the factory Bose system. I hacked all that out and replaced it with all good after market equipment... that wasn't my intention at first but I quickly learned with Bose once you do one thing non-Bose you have to convert the whole stupid system.

I now drive an Audi A4 with the Bose system and recently, it appears, my amp gave up the ghost. I get audio only occasionally and it comes on and vanishes with a loud pop. The dealership told me it was the Head Unit, which I replaced, but the problem is still exactly the same so I'm pretty sure at this point its gotta be the amp. I'm not too bitter about getting a head unit I didn't need as I now have nav, bluetooth, and a USB port so that's all good. Anyway, I was told that on the 2002 and up Audi Symphony II cars the Bose wiring and speakers are compatible with after market equipment and that I can simply bypass the amp and run wires from my HU back to the Amp out and then splice into the wires there (or, get any old 4 or 5 channel amp and run wires into that and then splice the outs into the existing wiring). That sounds awesome... if it's true... but my old Corvette experience is making me doubt the validity of this claim. Is this true so long as I keep Bose speakers in the car and it's just replacing the speakers that requires me replacing the existing wiring? I'm definitely not savvy with car stereos so if anyone has been down this road let me know.

i'm not sure how different our stereos are (i have a 98 a4) but from what i recall the amp is located behind the speaker in the rear driver side. If you go to audidiy.com.. in fact here's a link for rear amp replacement (since it wasn't the head unit, i imagine this is the problem)

http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec74.shtml.

Also, on the symphony radios, if you hold down the '5' key and then turn your stereo on, you will have the ability to adjust all 8 equalizer settings, more on that here:

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.p...-Radio-Controls

I'm not sure for what years that's good for, some say it's 2000-2002 others say it's for certain makes of the symphony system, it's hit and miss really. Somewhere on audizine or audiworld is a whole list of easter eggs your car has too, like holding unlock on your key fob rolls down all four windows and holding lock rolls all four up (and closes the sunroof). There's also a simple mod to give your rear windows one touch up (like the fronts) and if you have a VAG-COM you can set your car to lock the doors above 15mph and then unlock them when you remove the key from the ignition. Just goof around any of the popular forums and you'll find more info than you'll ever possibly use.

There's nothing wrong with the Symphony system, so i'd personally just replace the rear amp, but if you do decide to go all out, see if you can make some of your money back by posting your left overs on the forums, i'm sure someone will pick em up. What motor and drivetrain is your A4? Just curious, there's a ton of stuff you can do to the 1.8t's (performance wise), i recently put a K04 along with a few other goodies on mine, but have a little ways to go before i'm ready to post any decent numbers. The biggest caveat with these cars is that they weigh so damn much. Hope i was of some help :)

Edit: LOL, i forgot you replaced your head unit, the equalizer trick is useless to you then :p

Ford has been my favorite domestic car maker, but even more so since they didn't accept any bail out money and have thrown away all of their grandfathered motors and drivetrains for modern marvels. They still have a ways to go, but ridding themselves of useless brands was a good start, personally i still think they need to lose Mercury and work on making Lincoln a real luxury brand. As much as i hate that GM is now Government Motors, i'm a big fan of them cutting the fat too and personally think it should've happened on their own accord decades ago before they found themselves in their current predicament.

Just ordered my new car at the dealer, a Volkswagen Scirocco.

Chose the 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 Highline Plus 170hp TDI version with manual transmission. Due to my yearly mileage it's more economical to buy the diesel version. It's not too thirsty about 5.3l/100km or 45mpg.

Going to be a while before I get it as the waitlinglist is still quite long.

Even though it's going to be a pain to keep clean, I just had to go for the candywhite version.

That looks really nice, Bri. It's just a shame that, from what I hear, they won't be releasing the Scirocco in the US.

VW America claims that the Scirocco would cannibalize GTI sales if it were introduced in the US. Pretty lame excuse, as the first-generation Scirocco' largest market was the US - and it sold alongside the GTI Mk. I.

it's no worse than the honda/acura wagon thing, it's just another attempt at making the station wagon "cool" by making it slightly less practical than it was before.

[rage]

the crosstour looks like poo on a stick and so does the 550i GT-whateveritscalled. station wagons were cool when they were f'cking staction wangons. this bloated boat/car hybrid BS is already getting old.

this goes for the X6, the vensa, and any other car that can't decide what the hell it wants to be too. <_<

Thanks. And yes, honestly I can't make much sense of the model policy of the carmanufacturers. For example there are plenty of people here that would love the new Mustang, but doubt it will get here anytime soon.

I agree it's ugly. People will just end up being annoyed that the part they like suffers under the hybrid. If you like a Station you'll see the SUV, if you like a hatch, it's too much of a sedan etc. They'll end up pleasing no one.

I totally agree. Why would VW even care which car of theirs makes them money in the US market? They'd be making money either way. Does this mean that they don't sell the GTI over in Europe?

Let's look at it this way: VW America is too focused on selling the GTI and milking the hell out of the New Beetle (which, I've heard, was a flop in Europe) that they don't seem to care about the Scirocco. Yeah, it really is a stupid decision to not sell the car stateside, as I'm sure it will give coupes like the bloated Mitsubishi Eclipse a run for the money.

Thanks for all the pointers. I still haven't decided what to do to fix the amp issue but it was good to know where to start. Next weekend I'm going to rip the back of my car apart in search fo the amp to see if it's not just a cold solder joint issue in the current amp. THen I'm going to measure up the current amp and check out my after market situation. It looks like a previous owner (car was 2 years old when I bought it) removed the 8" woofer from the back housing, replaced it with two 4" speakers (and left the wood he used to make it work) and then took the 2 4" speakers when he sold the car. Now I understand why my stereo has always sounded so flat to me.

I drive a 1.8T Quattro. I'm not looking to hop up the speed, I bought this car specifically because it was a 4 door tank and I was sick of ending up with faster wrecked cars.

Totally. it does feel fast.

But 0-60 times aren't everything, if they were we'd all be driving drag cars. The lotus can break later and accelerate sooner than anything else mentioned in this thread. THAT is the win with this car. So the Genesis may win the drag race, but in turns the Lotus can catch up if not beat it.

I don't mind when people call it a Toyota. Even flame baiters.

When Lotus decided to use sourced engines it saved the company. Designing and testing a proprietary engine for a low production car adds huge costs and they always run like sh!t because none of these companies can quality test like the big manufacturers can. The Toyota powerplant is one of the most reliable in the world, so unlike a few of my San Francisco friends who dropped a quarter mil on a car, I get all the same excitement and CAN ACTUALLY DRIVE IT EVERY DAY, because of that wonderful Toyota engine.

Let me add one more thing... I drive this car to the fukin limit, I mean I red line ALL THE TIME on the track at least. I have a friend who races Ferraris and he told me there isn't a Ferrari owner in California who will do to his car what it would take to beat most Lotus drivers. Why? Because we know if we melt the engine we can get one for 3 grand the next day... If the Ferrari guy burns his engine, its 100 grand and he has to wait 4 months. Once again, advantage Toyota.

Lotus killer here. Don't be fooled by its lack of roll cage, racing tires, and cheesey decals. THIS CAR IS SIC! (on the track)
