Kurt Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 (edited) I just put the finishing touches on a 1/72 Hasegawa YF-19. This is the first one of these that I have built. It was a nice kit to work on. A nice change of pace from all of the 1/48 customs. Customer wanted a nice clean paint job with no weathering. Let me know what you think. Grayson72 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Looks great kurt, even with no weathering I think I'd still want panel lines though.
Viceland Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Yep, great build, but definitely needs panel lines.
JLYC Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 ditto the panel lines...otherwise it'll look like a toy! nice painting
Aurora-7 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 (edited) Looks great. If you accentuate the panels, don't go too crazy if the customer wants a clean bird. And it's gears up! Are you mounting it to a stand? Edited November 7, 2005 by Aurora-7
Chowser Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 i'm trying to figure out how to mount it to the wall directly. for now, i'm just going to use an acrylic stand. or maybe i'll see if it fits the Yamato launch arm.
promethuem5 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Agreed, it needs panel lines. Also, what's going on with the cockpit there? How come the cockpit housing doesnt match the fuselage?
Kurt Posted November 8, 2005 Author Posted November 8, 2005 Agreed, it needs panel lines. Also, what's going on with the cockpit there? How come the cockpit housing doesnt match the fuselage? 343141[/snapback] I would have done panel lines if the customer requested it. The "cockpit housing"? Are you refering to the gray piece behind the canopy? I was just following Hasegawa's painting guide, and it shows that piece gray.
Gabe Q Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 That is such a clean look. I love the clean look. Your skills are amazing.
Mallet21 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 This kit has very few panel lines to begin with so I doubt you'd see much of a difference anyway...imho.
promethuem5 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Oh....well, I guess I didn't actually read all of the painting guide then.... good thing I didn't get that far on mine before shelving it
jipe Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 The "cockpit housing"? Are you refering to the gray piece behind the canopy? I was just following Hasegawa's painting guide, and it shows that piece gray. That's the panel coming on, after the ejection of the passager and the canopy (at the end of M+) I see you have the same problem for the pilot. Hasegawa is not clear: where the arms joint the body ? I place the shoulder higher than you... but not sure that's the right place. Nice job anyway.
promethuem5 Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Yeah, I had the same problem.... there's not enough definitive joint to mount the shoulders on... and if you mess it up you end up with either a giraffe or a pilot scrunching his shoulders....
zeo-mare Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 it looks great i love my kits clean and not dirty. i think some nice clean panel lines would benefit this kit greatly, fantastic work as always. chris
Chowser Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 ok, not going to be it's final resting place, but it's in the spot light for now. once again, THANK YOU Kurt! You did another wonderful job. Now, I need to start saving for the next custom....but i gotta go buy accessories for my new gun first.
drkstar00 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 K- I'm alittle worried. I'm just now getting into the modeling thing, and only recently picked up the Hasegawa YF- 19. It appears I have a great deal to learn before attempting this kit. VERY cool pics; I can only hope to develop that level of skill. So I think I'll begin with some generic plane kits or something, to begin practicing. Again...awesome.

ChaosWarrior Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 It looks very nice and clean, and it matches with the other models as well. They also look nice and clean. ChaosWarrior
