  1. If the mods want to delete this thread, due to the separate ones, then I understand. At the moment, there look to be about 4 or 5 threads on various Megazone 23 products in the first few pages here. Since there are so many different items coming out this year and next, I figure that it might be helpful to have a single thread to keep them all straight, and to compare/contrast. We have: - Arcadia 1/24 (thread at ) - Freeing 1/20 (thread at ) - Fewture 1/20... or 1/15... unclear (thread at - The old Yamato, which can be great for comparison, 1/15 (rider was closer to 1/18) (thread at ) - Aoshima also made a 1/24 model (no recently active thread on that) So, here is how things look to me: Arcadia: 1/24 "die cast model". The big deal to this one, in my opinion, is that they have shown prototypes of Hagans and Proto Garland (at Wonderfest in 2016, and updated in 2017). So, while this one looks largely like a scaled-down Yamato, it might be worth getting if it is going to be part of a full in-scale line of Megazone 23 products. They have also more recently revealed an add-on strike Garland pack (shields and weapons that add on to make it look like the Strike Garland). Price: 25,800 at HLJ for Garland, 24,510 at CDJ, 23,994 at A-E, 25,300 for the Garland; 64,584 for the blue and white version; 25,704 for the Strike Parts; all at AmiAmi (the latter two appearing to be incentives from the Kickstarter for the new anime); Release: 12/2017 Freeing: 1/20 scale This one wins on robot mode, but the bike mode looks a little crushed together. The video that they put out showing the transformation of this thing looks, in my opinion, terrible. Just way way WAY too finicky. On the other hand, it's an E=X Garland, and I've wanted one since I first saw Megazone 23 Part III, and never thought we'd get one. The figure that comes with it looks kind of cool. Price: 26,213 on HLJ, 24,834 on CDJ, 23,460 on A-E; Release: 02/2018 Fewture: 1/20, though it seems closer to 1/15 in robot mode Looks similar to the Yamato, but with more elongation and sharp points. Maybe a little artistic license taken to make it look more dynamic. The paint job definitely looks less plastic and more paint, with a darker color than I think we've seen before. It does look detailed, though the figure that comes with it looks a little iffy. Price: 39,800 on HLJ. 39,800 on CDJ, 37,810 on A-E; Release: 04/2018 So, what are everyone's thoughts, looking at all of these together? The Fewture looks detailed, but I'm not a fan of the paint, and the pricing is just way way too high for my tastes. The Freeing looks cool, but finicky. Tempted to get it due to no other E=X figures being out there, but not sure what you're getting justifies the price. To me, the Arcadia is the only one I'm seriously considering. The pricing is a little more reasonable, but still up there, so I'm on the fence. On the other hand, if this does become a larger line, with multiple versions of the Garland, plus Harguns, maybe cheaper strike packs down the road, and if they have a deal to make figures for the new anime (which may be the case, looking at the Kickstarter incentives), then I know I'm going to be kicking myself later if I don't get this one.
  2. Is there a thread for this line of toys yet? They seem to offer about 70% of enjoyment of what you'd get in a 1/6 scale hot toys/enterbay release in at about 33% the price..and they take up less space. Any fans of this line here? I don't really (or haven't yet) collect figurines/figma (whatever poseable high quality figures are called) but I recently picked up my first one...the Dark Knight Trilogy Batman...for all of around $60. Totally worth it. I'm tempted to pick up the Joker and Cat Woman from the same line....Shame they don't include an unmasked face for Catwoman and they totally animesized her umm boobies but those two look like winners too. They've also got the robocop license it seems and will release both classic robocop (1987) and the new one from the upcoming movie. I hope they get lots more licenses because I really like this scale (taller than a 1/60 vf-1, shorter than a 1/48 vf-1) and poseability. The only bad thing about I can say about the one i have is like eveything in this format...you can still see the joints if you are looking closely...they aren't covered by clothes like in the hot toys 1/6 scale figures. other licenses seem to be mostly from video games (which is cool), like their own games as well as stuff like street fighter ( i may pick up a ryu and some more) i do wish they'd make accessories, vechicles and playsets for this line though (square enix....can you say batpod!!?)
  3. Well...maybe not improved....but it is new since the old one vanished like the SDF-1's fold system! List your inquiries on value here! Or...... An easy way to get an idea of current market prices for almost any Macross (or other Japanese) collectible.... 1) Start with the YJA closed auctions search: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/closedsearch/closedsearch?p=yf-21&aq=-1&oq=&ei=UTF-8&slider=0&auccat=0 2) In the search field enter what you are looking for....you may need to find out the Japanese words for some things...but for most Macross valks just use something like "1/55 VF-1J"...or get fancier by adding "マクロス"...the more specific you get, the more filtered the results....add words such as Bandai バンダイ, Takatoku タカトク, or Yamato やまと for searching specific brands.... 3) Go through the results and select at least a month or two of past sales/closed auctions.....note the final auction sale amount, add them up and divide that number by the number you are using for your sample......that will give you the average final auction value 4) Add about 10% to the final auction value average for proxy fees and local shipping....then add an amount based on the item for international shipping fee to your door...this will get you the price anyone looking for your item can expect to pay "on average" for the item if they were to buy it themselves directly from Japan via YJA...... ****note that this price is usually lower than what you would pay at a shop like Mandarake....the reason is because Mandarake needs to make a profit so they low-ball what they pay customers bringing in their collectibles for sale....basically just like a pawn shop does....so Mandarake prices are not really reflective of true open market prices........with that said, if you paid MSRP or less for an item, then selling it at "Mandarake prices" will most of the time mean you will end up selling for much more than what you originally paid for the item*** Other things to consider are the actual condition of the item, box, status of accessories, original paperwork and decals, and anything else that originally may have been included with the item you are trying to determine value. In my experience, missing or damaged boxes take away up to 30% or more of the "average value". Missing accessories and anything else can remove about 10% for each item missing. Anything broken will remove 30-50% or more depending on how badly or how important the broken part is to the overall functionality of the collectible. There are so many other factors also involved that will ultimately determine the value of your item. It will ultimately go down to how much you are willing to "let it go" for and how much your buyer is willing to splurge on it. In short, if you can determine the "average" value of your item, you will be better equipped to make a deal that will be fair to both you and your buyer and sell quickly. Good Luck!

  8. https://news.toyark.com/2021/06/04/mcfarlane-toys-batman-1966-retro-6-inch-figures-revealed-430563 The articulation in the legs is like that so that the figures can sit in the Batmobile. If McFarlane gets to releasing a 1/12 scale 1989 Batman later then maybe there’s a chance that there will be a 1/12 scale Batmobile release as well. I’d buy one for sure.

  11. Since Chogokin has it's own dedicated thread, I thought I'd start one for Robot Spirits figures so we don't have dozens of related threads scattered all over the forums. Here, we can discuss our Robot Spirits collections, upcoming releases, and anything else pertaining to this awesome line of mecha figures. I started my RT (Robot Tamashii, not to be confused with Robotech) love affair with the Full Metal Panic figures, and have been extremely impressed with each and every one of them. I have all of the FMP mecha, including two next-to-impossible-to-find Savages. I just received the web-exclusive MITHRIL Emergency Booster set in the mail today and was surprised at how much it's launch catapult resembles some of the MSG Mechanical Chain Base sets. The booster itself is a nice one-size-fits-all design for all versions of the M9 and the ARX-7. In launch mode, the catapult footpads raise up between 45 and 50 degrees, resembling "starting blocks" that track runners use. Overall, it's an awesome accessory for the Side AS figures...which makes me even more excited for the Gray/White Arbalest and Weapon Set in November. I know some people hate the way Bandai releases add-ons like this as aftermarket sets, but I like being able to expand on the figures I already have in my collection. (Photos coming soon) I haven't ventured beyond the FMP series with these figures, but as time goes on, and Bandai adds new series to its lineup, I'm sure I'll branch out...
  12. Ah, the enigmatic Graham just refined his hint, so thought we might as well open up a new thread to discuss it. For one thing, we know it can't be Macross or Votoms. I don't think it's gonna be Orguss since Graham mentioned that another company is doing some Orguss stuff already. It's gotta make 'a lot of Macrossworlders happy' so it should be something we're familiar with. I personally would have wanted Mospeada mecha like the Mospeada itself or even better the Alpha fighters (lots of repaint possibilities on that one too so it would make sense from a practical standpoint. Hmmm...
  13. Wow after diggin up some 80's anime I found this cool opening theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AiIHL0pVMo Did anyone watched those TV series / OVA? (style makes me think of mospeada)
  14. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Toys coming from Bandai: http://www.poeghostal.com/2010/06/thundercats-toys-coming-from-bandai.html It looks like it's going to look more like a Japanese property.

  16. It seems the 1/72 Vf-1J and VF-1A fighters are showing "in stock" on the Calibre Wings website....has anyone received them? I placed an order via Flying Mule due to their 20% PO discount but they seem to always get their stuff last.... I am glad that I picked up the VF-1S and M&M VF-1J set, they are all excellent display pieces.....wonder if this is the end of the road for canon VF-1's from Calibre Wings?.....I am taking a pass at the original paint schemes they are releasing...
  17. Hello everyone, I am looking for some recommendations as I read in some fb groups/threads on tip and tricks to collect previous releases cheaper. I recently got into hobby and been rigorously been buying up DX Chogokin/Arcadia/Yamato using the following sites Buyee (Yahoo JP & Mecari), Amiami, Ebaye, and Mandarke. I was wondering if there are places I can individually shop in local jp stores or other places I can keep an eye out for hard to find Valkyries. I would really appreciate if you the people here can share your experience and thanks in advance!
  18. Hey guys, I just got into this hobby and looking for about 20+ display stands. I know the ones people recommend yeti or flightpose but they are both sold out (Yeti seems to be discontinued) so I was wondering if you guys have any other recommendation? I don't want to use the standard display that comes with the dx chogokin because I read that they leave mark or scratch the toy. Thanks in advance!
  19. http://hlj.com/product/KZC10002 http://www.collectiondx.com/news_item/81016/kitz_concept_super_deformed_robotech_vf1s_roy_fokker Saw the HLJ link on my Facebook page, and brief researching turned up the CollectionDX link. It's branded as a Robotech toy, but all the same. I dunno if it already has a dedicated topic, but in case it doesn't, I figured I'd share for those who are interested. MSRP of 8800 JPY.
  20. Out of nowhere Bandai is bringing a new action figure. I couldn’t find a thread for the show, so I figured I’d start one in case other items appear like new kits other action figures or just a rerelease of the series.
