  1. Cute. Except that this isn't war, but a TV show. As such, characters have to die in service of the story, especially if they haven't really done anything yet. Why waste precious screentime on someone if they exit with no impact on anything to pull retarded "war is meaningless" statement that can be conveyed with, you know, actual storytelling? Justifying it with that answer reeks of bad directing. You can easily kill a character in a before their time way and still be in service to the plot, like they did . However, characters whose only purpose is essentially to be canon fodder mid series and to give the appearance of CB getting a bloody nose (or the basic concept of "Something's got to blow up") is poor writing. These characters basically die for the other characters to mourn, not the audience, and, unlike Saji's predicament, serves nothing to advance the plot and lacks any impact (hard to mourn someone you don't even know outside of "they killed that cute chick!", not really an important impact, wouldn't you say?). Actual canon fodder can be put to that use as it is, no need to introduce a whole pointless character. I think I heard that argument on 4chan. That's reading way too deeply into things, and putting meaning where there is absolutely none. There's no archetype of character whose purpose is to merely die outside of the CF or Red Shirt character, and they're not supposed to last 20 episodes only to accomplish a mild threat level at the very end (barely damaging a Gundam). AS I heard the director say, basically CB is paying for the last 23 episodes. Only it's doing so in one meaningful death, and a bunch of ones that are rather pointless outside of "Oh My God, they killed -----" (though at least they serve that purpose, probably won't ) I notice that this seems to like to build chara motivation through death or tragedy alone instead of actual development. Agreed. I think I really will call it quits if they kill her off. She's about the only female character left outside of maybe Marina with any development left.I think I heard that argument on 4chan. Yeah, that was one of the best written moments. Even teared me up, which shows how good the writing can be when they do it right seeing a I loathed Louise. She was a horrible character, and I'm glad she's gone for now. As such, I didn't really feel much hatred for Trinity as they hurt characters I didn't really give a damn about. Though it served the plot well. Sad it took that long for Louise and Saji to really become relevant. I agree that he was the best of the Meisters. You could actually relate to him. .
  2. From what I read on 4Chan, yeah i know, that it was just some conflicting interests between investors. And that one of the investors held the title licenses to the ones that were pulled from the site. Take that rumor with a large pinch of salt though since it was from 4Chan.....
  3. Ya know it's sad when you nearly automatically dismiss errors like this when it comes to posts on the Internet. Too much apathy I guess. Good catch!! March, that 'humor' section is like a mini-4Chan >-<! I'll have too look through my "4Chan Humor" file for others. But on a more serious subject. With your finding higher resolution images of the Megaroad 01 she should be able to be put into either 3D or a physical model now!! Megaroad in 3D..... hmmmm....
  4. Well, since you guys seem to be so curious about how a finn can know about futaba et al... One, study japanese for year or two up to the point you can read most sites without problem (with help from dictionary in case of difficult words/kanji). Two, be anime fan involved with English speaking sphere of anime fandom. It won't take you long on 4chan or other sites like it to become aware of japanese sites and fandom activities within. Three, when you're Macross fan you find far more discussion, info and activities in japanese speaking fandom than in English speaking one. Forming habits for checking certain threads on 2ch or 2chan and like isn't that weird. I usually check twitter, certain threads on 2ch, couple of matome sites and nijigen boards on futaba semi-regularly. So when tweets about Megumi's "break" started to appear in number it was quite easy to do following reading. I also happen to own both of her solo albums as well as few singles (not to mention quite few japanese Macross BDs/DVDs though yes, I don't own FB7) so I wish japanese fans were a bit less eager with rampant leecher accusations...
  5. these kinda thread pops up on 4chan's toy channel all the time. Always an interesting read. toy collecting isn't a common hobby and is usually frowned upon where I'm from (though that trend seems to be slowly changing), so I'm pretty envious of the people here who can show their collection more prominently
  6. We have heard what happened about Watamote in 4Chan. I think thanks to the fans outside of Japan who bought the comic books, the anime has come to be made. Thanks!
  7. 1. Yes, thanks to 4chan, we get to explain what that means...It means nothing...it's just rambling from 4chan. 2. No. IIRC, Jetfire was redesigned in current toy lines. 3. Only among some of his current works, but that remains to be seen as this trend is only within the past 5 years. Arjuna comes to mind with strong environmental themes. 4. Some thought it was good, some thought it was horrible. 5. Mostly mild. not good, but not bad. The movie was a straight transfer from the VHS.... 6. That's up to you. It's a different telling of the OAV.
  8. Macross World = 4chan All the hate & designs plus p0Rn! SFM is pretty much my roost and if I want images or get updated on anime I use 4chan.
  9. I'm still working through the second part but so far I'm enjoying what you guys are bringing out. I like Howard's stories about the doujins most people don't see cuz generally people aren't getting off on the robots ;3 Although there was that one lady from 4chan...
  10. I hope this gets the attention it needs in this section, but there is a thread going on at 4chan right now that has a lot of high rez Macross pictures being posted. I figure some of you would be interested, so here is the link: http://orz.4chan.org/hr/res/59025.html
  11. It's a quote from 4chan.org It was a meme about a year ago over there. You rarely see it now. We had a 4chan thread here back then, I think I posted one of the pics there.
  12. Found this on 4chan http://bin.4chan.org/m/src/1141707567306.jpg Cover has eureka 7, flap has VF-1, apparently this covers everything inbetween as well. And comes out NEXT WEEK! Talk about under the radar. I HOPE this has some macross 0 art!(assuming it will since it also has his later works like aquerion and eureka 7) HELL YEA!!

  16. >ANN/Nov 12th 2012 - In recent news, it has been confirmed that The Walt Disney Company is pursuing the rights to the legendary 80s franchise, ROBOTECH. Acquisition of the trademark would enable the company to control distribution of the three unrelated mecha anime series that were used during its production, of which MACROSS is currently the more popular and is also celebrating its 30th anniversary in Japan... I found this in the /m/ section at 4chan... Can somebody confirm if is true?

  18. I'm a huge fan of the series, and this movie was far and away the best to date (each one has been better than the last in my opinion) High points: -Triwizard Tournament was amazingly rendered, even if some things were left out. -Wealey Twins. Easily my favorite characters in the books, there's never enough of them in the movies, but what little there is always manages to be funny. -No mention of S.P.E.W.: It's a side concept that in no way advances the story. I don't think Hermione would've been any different had she not conceived this movement. -Another spot-on delivery from pretty much the entire cast. I preferred Richard Harris as Dumbledore, but Michael Gambon does pretty well. -The "learning to dance" scene between Ron and Professor McGonagall. Priceless! -The "Defense against the Dark Arts" class and it's effect on Longbottom... a seriously moving moment in the movie. I was glad to see them play this part up. It shows that Nevelle is moving away from being the irresponsible, forgetful little boy into a young man with a weight on his shoulders that is almost as hard as Harry's. Expect his encounter with Bellatrix Lestrange in the next movie to be SERIOUSLY up-played (and well done at that) That said, and like pretty much every book-to-movie adaptation, it wasn't without some pitfalls (some much more minor than others) -The Quidditch world-cup: They set up some WICKED SICK visual effects for that whole thing, then it was over before it even really began. WTF?? (no "Wronski feint"? c'mon....) -Hogsmeade? No visits in the movie? what gives? -Needed more time spent in classes... sometimes made it seem like they were just hanging out at Hogwarts instead of attending classes there -More Snape dialogue: Alan Rickman [4chan]winz [/4chan], it could always use more of him. -Beauxbaton and Durmstrang "stepping" on their way into the great hall? What is this, Drumline II? That said, my frat could take a few lessons from the Durmstang guys (as an interesting sidenote, I believe "Durmstrang" is a play on the german phrase "sturm und drang",a musical trend in the 1800s which I believe translates roughly into something like storm and pain) -Dumbledore getting mad at Harry? Nope, not like Albus Dumbledore at all. -Lastly, am I the only one that thought the soundtrack on this one was decidedly sub-par? The last one was superb, and the ones before that were well done also. These are my first impressions. It wasn't without a minor flaw or two, but that's to be expected from an adaptation. Everyone finds something they wanted to see but didn't. For those who don't have the inclination to dive into the books, I think it's an excellent "abridged" adaptation. -Jeremy (waiting anxiously for the next installment both in book and in movie)
