  3. Hey guys, I think this might be the first topic I've ever actually started on macrossworld. I've actually been contemplating to do a thread on Kaiju for a while especially since there really hasn't been one that I recall. I just couldn't decide on a way to kick it off. What changed? Well with Pacific Rim coming in a couple of months, and next year the american Godzilla reboot now is as good a time as any. That and thanks to Media Blasters, and Miramax releasing Godzilla Vs. Megalon and Godzilla Vs. Biolante respectively I now own all the Godzilla films on dvd.* Of the two I have to say I enjoyed Megalon more. Yeah its cheesy, but its entertaining as hell and Media blasters did one hell of a job on remastering it. Biolante while it has amazing special effects(the G suit is the best of the heisei era) the story isn't that great and I'm still trying to figure out why people over at tohokingdom.com think its one of the great G films of all time. Its still not as bad as the garbage that is Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah. What's the worst one to you guys? Aside from the 1998 american film? Speaking of the 98 film, its actually enjoyable as giant monster film, as long as you don't think of the monster as Godzilla himself which is what the Japanese have done with several of the millenium era films. Anybody else here like Giant Monster figures, toys, and etc? Feel free to discuss them. I've been buying the U.S. Bandai vinyls off and on since I think 2000, but lately it seems they've gone to crap. The latest run is a bunch of reissues with the exception of I think Showa Mechagodzilla. The paints are all wrong(spacegodzilla is black instead of blue) and each figure comes in both a normal version, and a lame gimicky version that feels softer and has sparkles. The only one I picked up was the GMK Godzilla since I missed it the first time around. *(All the films have been released in the United States on dvd with the exception of 1984's Return of Godzilla. I broke down and imported the original Japanese version because it was subbed, and is very different than the american Godzilla 1985 cut.)
  4. Presenting the thread dedicated to Bandai's high-end action figure lines: S.H. Figuarts S.H. Figuarts is Bandai's answer to Kaiyodo's Revoltech and Max Factory's Figma lines, with figures that boast extreme detail and poseability, coupled with a vast array of features and accessories. The line consists mainly of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai figures, but there are also figures for anime characters from Dragon Ball, One Piece, Tiger & Bunny and Doraemon, as well as Hollywood blockbusters like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here's an example: Juzo Fuwa from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (a.k.a. Deker from Power Rangers Samurai), a Tamashii Web exclusive: The line also includes S.H. Figuarts Zero which consists of non-poseable anime statues that are well-detailed. Here's Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin: D-Arts D-Arts focuses on video game characters, as well as the Digimon series. The D-Arts line was dropped after 2014, with newer video game character figures being released under the S.H. Figuarts line. Here are Rockman X (MegaMan X) and Rockman Zero (MegaMan Zero) (1st Version): S.H. MonsterArts S.H. MonsterArts is for the kaiju fan who demands a lot of detail and poseability that normal monster figures lack. Here's Godzilla: Ultra-Act Ultra-Act is for hardcore fans of the Ultraman series, as well as Tsuburaya Productions' other works. Here's Ultraman: Post your collection here.
  5. Went to Target this morning to look for the Transformers Prime Season 1 Blu-ray set. No dice. They can stock stupid crap like The Tooth Fairy 2 on Blu-ray, but not Transformers, I guess. They did have the DVD version though, if you need that. I wound up ordring it on Amazon. I'm using to paying more for Blu-rays than DVDs, but double? Yeesh.
  6. Since I don't own one or seen one in person or physically held one, can you smarties give me your feedback as to which of the 4 toy makers produce the best Alpha Fighter. I believe there's CM corp, Toynami, Brave and Aoshima. What are their pros and cons between the 3, QC, worksmanship, paint or tampo apps etc.
  7. So a friend of mine turned me on to this brand of paints that's made for field weapons and is rated to be super resilient to scratches. I am considering using this for transforming toys as it is completely permanent and even sticks to steel. Let me know what you guys think. http://www.houtsente....net/index.html Most of your DYRL colors here... http://www.houtsenterprises.net/dur_bloomberg.html - Nghia
  8. So, I didn't see any threads regarding these figures, but I know that there used to be one in the past, so I thought I'd reinstate a new one in response to this: http://www.hlj.com/product/ALT20805 Alter's new 1/60 M9 Gernsback. Alter made a previous 1/60 Arbalest, and this time, their taking a shot at the M9. I missed my chance at picking up the arbalest (and its sold out pretty much everywhere now), so getting this is a no brainer for me. Looks REALLY cool, but then again, its about an inch shorter than a 1/60 VF-1 and nearly 2800 yen more expensive, so your mileage may vary. I think its a great piece of work though. What do you guys think?
  9. I think we need a Lego thread. To kick it off, here's something I found today: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/638 Another link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maxvf1/ And some sample pics:
  10. From were we left the last time : http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=25599&st=1190 The next BMF vehicle : http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Rumor_Report_The_Next_BIG_Vehicle_138474.asp My guess it's the Sentinel Shuttle ,
  11. One of the most beloved animated series of the '80s will finally get a DVD release. According to the link below, Shout! Factory has acquired the Region 1 DVD rights to all 75 episodes of M.A.S.K. Now if only Hasbro reissued the classic Kenner toys... DVD Plans for M.A.S.K.
  12. Nerf.com Since some of us MWers are collectors, here's a thread dedicated to Nerf blasters. Currently, I have in my arsenal: Stampede ECS Vulcan EBF-25 Barricade RV-10 (x2) Longshot CS-6 Alpha Trooper CS-18 Raider CS-35 Barrel Break IX-2 Clear Recon CS-6 Maverick REV-6 (x2) Vortex Vigilon Scout IX-3 2-Pack Reflex IX-1 Secret Strike AS-1 N-Strike Bandolier Kit N-Strike Ammo Box Here are some pics of two of my blasters.
  13. I'm sure a lot of people have been waiting for this one. Source April release.
  14. EDIT: Don't know why i didn't look in the Hall of Super Topics for the old "Display Your Collection" thread, but i just found it and thought i'd link it finally: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=18562&hl Enjoy more collection pics!! ORIGINAL POST: I did some searching for a thread dedicated to just showing off entire Macross collections and displays and there were only a few threads with individuals posting only their collection. Or there were collection pics hidden in other threads about display cases or toy pictures. I love to see how people display their toys so here's a new thread where everyone can participate to share their collections. This is a new dedicated thread for people to show off ONLY pictures of their Macross Collection Displays. You can post pictures of how you display them whether it's in a cabinet, glass displays, book cases, whole rooms, etc. NO pictures of individual toys since there is already a thread for that. Lets see all our Macross collections in 1 place! I'll start by showing off a section of my rearranged Macross toys in my custom detolf cabinet displays. I'm still working on rearranging the rest of the room so i'll post those later. 1/48 displays I also recently purchased mini acrylic display signs so i can label my collection for fun. need to make them for the rest of my displays and i'll post them later. This was my old display room circa summer 2009, but i'll post updated pics soon
  15. Since Chogokin has it's own dedicated thread, I thought I'd start one for Robot Spirits figures so we don't have dozens of related threads scattered all over the forums. Here, we can discuss our Robot Spirits collections, upcoming releases, and anything else pertaining to this awesome line of mecha figures. I started my RT (Robot Tamashii, not to be confused with Robotech) love affair with the Full Metal Panic figures, and have been extremely impressed with each and every one of them. I have all of the FMP mecha, including two next-to-impossible-to-find Savages. I just received the web-exclusive MITHRIL Emergency Booster set in the mail today and was surprised at how much it's launch catapult resembles some of the MSG Mechanical Chain Base sets. The booster itself is a nice one-size-fits-all design for all versions of the M9 and the ARX-7. In launch mode, the catapult footpads raise up between 45 and 50 degrees, resembling "starting blocks" that track runners use. Overall, it's an awesome accessory for the Side AS figures...which makes me even more excited for the Gray/White Arbalest and Weapon Set in November. I know some people hate the way Bandai releases add-ons like this as aftermarket sets, but I like being able to expand on the figures I already have in my collection. (Photos coming soon) I haven't ventured beyond the FMP series with these figures, but as time goes on, and Bandai adds new series to its lineup, I'm sure I'll branch out...
  16. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Toys coming from Bandai: http://www.poeghostal.com/2010/06/thundercats-toys-coming-from-bandai.html It looks like it's going to look more like a Japanese property.
  17. Discuss Panzer World Galient Toys, Models and Anime HERE First Up; Wave W.H.A.M.! "Galient OVA Tetsu-Kyojin Completed Action Model"
  18. OK, c'mon. Everybody has a guilty pleasure. Something that you enjoy but you know that if others knew about this pleasure you could very easily be mocked. It might be a TV show, film, a song, a musical artist, a certain type of toy, Emma Watson, whatever. Time fo 'fess up. MY guilty pleasure at the moment is La Roux (which I have previously admitted to, I know.) Strange music with backing instrumentation that sounds like it is coming out of a C64, but I think its great stuff anyway. So c'mon. What do you like that you shouldn't. ONE rule - No mocking or nastiness here. This is just a place to clear one's conscience. Taksraven
  19. I've been messing with my shelves alot lately with the introduction of all my new vinyls toys (both modern and vintage) and thought it'd be fun to show off where I'm at right now. The bottom shelf is my ~1/60 real robot shelf with Yamato valks, Patlabor machines, Gundam stuff, and some 28mm war gaming models all approximately in scale with each other. Next shelf up is the product of my recent discovery of all things vintage robots pre-Transformers. On top of that is some Transformers and some vinyls, and then on top of that some bigger Transformers and models I've built. I also snapped a shot of my Machine Robo shelf, and my 'shelfless' Jumbo-sized toys. I've got another set of modern vinyls and other stuff spread around on my bookshelves, but this is the bulk of what's out right now. It's a shame I'm out of room, because I've an Iron Man collection that fills a shelf on its own, and a huge storage bin full of more G1 Transformers that I tragically have nowhere to put. More pics here: http://prometheusrising.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/shelves/
  20. Saw this at the onesixth forum: New 1:6 SAFS Ma.K coming from Toys McCoy QUOTE The model features an opening cockpit, cowling and hatches are hindged and a there is a fully detailed interior, there are LED's on the control monitor, exterior lights, and laser, it's all built on a die cast frame work so it's HEAVY (6Kg. or about 13lbs!), height is 45cm (almost 18 inches tall). The model is made from a combination of materials but most is urethane plastic. This is the same resin material that resin hs, weapons and model kits are made. The attached photos are from an article on the development (it's taken a few years). Details on price and release date are TBD but it looks like HLJ (Hobby Link Japan) will carry it, as will Amazon.com Japan. I would guess the price will be high considering the Toys McCoy connection, the complexity of the model and materials involved. I'd also guess that the model will be something along the lines of the recent HT releases of ED-209 and the power loader from Aliens, that is fully painted and assembled.
  21. Wow after diggin up some 80's anime I found this cool opening theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AiIHL0pVMo Did anyone watched those TV series / OVA? (style makes me think of mospeada)
  22. Ah, the enigmatic Graham just refined his hint, so thought we might as well open up a new thread to discuss it. For one thing, we know it can't be Macross or Votoms. I don't think it's gonna be Orguss since Graham mentioned that another company is doing some Orguss stuff already. It's gotta make 'a lot of Macrossworlders happy' so it should be something we're familiar with. I personally would have wanted Mospeada mecha like the Mospeada itself or even better the Alpha fighters (lots of repaint possibilities on that one too so it would make sense from a practical standpoint. Hmmm...
