I know its probably just to look "cool".. but what's with all the glowing parts of this car? Not saying it's not possible but generally "internal combustion" engines are just that: internal. Unless this is some new hyper-efficient external combustion engine? Don't mind the style, it does look like a modified muscle car, but I am really curious about all the light-up bits.

Not saying everything doesn't fit well, but there is really nothing holding the wings down to the legs in fighter mode. Which.. now that I think of it, is the same issue the Bandai VF-25 kits had. Maybe it's time to cut some slots and make some tabs for them to snap into...

I think... honestly, I would take a re-release of the Kairos over more of these any day. Quality and manufacturing issues aside, I don't think any of the features of this design are an improvement over the existing 31A. - The new canopy changed the nose profile enough that it doesn't seem like it flows as well as the old one - The thermometer pod is just dumb, and the new gunpod has all the detriments of the older one's dumb grip design, while being bulkier and having a worse mounting method - The new arm design is a pile of sloppy panels that were never going to lay flush outside of a computer model And that's leaving out the potential problems with the new super pack attachments, because Bandai seems to absolutely love screwing up a good thing. There are so many things I would change about this design at this point, it's just become an ugly duckling of what was probably Bandai's best overall release.

Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness

Yeah, maybe a stretch, but it doesn't look like there's any chair in the center of that room, just going by the spacing of the others.- 129 replies

Yeah, no lie, I bought all of these to get HMR-scaled Delta valks. They're really close in scale, though I do wish the 31 variants snapped together better in fighter.

I keep forgetting that Hasegawa did do one of the unique AC designs from Infinity (and they obviously cranked out dozens of those Idolmaster schemes ), so I don't know why they couldn't make some bigger kits. Don't get me wrong, the Kotobukiya ones are great little kits with some nice options, but the small scale makes for some ugly compromises. (I'm looking at you, incorrectly-mounted Morgan sidewinders )

Yeah, there are just.. all sorts of ways to improve that scheme. At this point, I think I would much rather have Bandai make more 1/72 transforming kits (or even Hasegawa ones), because they're so much easier to tweak than the DX versions, and so much easier to acquire.
-
Ugh, for crying out loud, can we just get something in 1/72, please? I don't mind the quick little desktop builds, but these are painfully insubstantial for the price.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
Chronocidal replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Can we get them to make something at that level for the X-Wing? They've been spitting out gradually worse and worse repops of the FX model for what, twenty years now? That needs a refresh, and it's such an iconic vehicle. -
Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
Chronocidal replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Looks like someone glued on the super packs on that one. Fortunately, black is fairly easy to touch up, and if you get a set of the packs yourself, it'll cover that entirely. -
Ok.. that... looks worse. I want to guess that the whole color palette of that video might be polluted by the plants in the background, but that green is like.. dark lime. I guess maybe they couldn't bear not having at least one Christmas valk? Edit: ... Hold up. If he's Delta 06.. who are the other pilots again?
-
Just something to keep in mind, that ad is entirely CGI. I would not trust anything about that image at all, including the colors. I... may try for one. But I'm not even convinced I want to keep it. I don't mind the colors, but the logo is actually kind of obnoxious, and I have no idea why they couldn't just make the color scheme consistent and give him red.
-
Welp.. that's disappointing. I've gotten nothing for about two weeks now, since I first got tracking info, so maybe they'll cancel mine and I can just dodge that bullet. Not feeling like I need duplicates of this one, really.
-
Sadly I think we're past the point where they're ever going to milk any particular mold again. For as many times as they've re-released the YF-19 mold, I'm really surprised they didn't do that one, but I'm guessing their numbers from sales of the other versions just couldn't justify it.
-
I haven't looked at them in a while, but the tab on one side might be angled to let the pack rock one direction easier? I might be thinking of one of the Yamato versions, wither 1/48 or 1/60. I remember sometimes having to pry up one side with something like a guitar pick back in the day.

I seriously want that Storm Mirage scheme.. it's essentially the scheme I have wanted on a VF-19F from day one.

Macross Δ (Delta) Movie Gekijō no Walkūre (Passionate Walkure)
Chronocidal replied to no3Ljm's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'd have to watch them both back to back (or maybe not, I'm not sure I can take that much plot-based spinal readjustment), but I still feel like the movie did the plot a favor by condensing the extraneous elements into something more coherent as a whole. Probably just a relative thing, because it introduced its own problems.. maybe it just felt less offensive because it was over faster?- 810 replies

The VF-5000 always looked like a cross between the VF-1 and VF-19 for me, but it's got a few unique bits to the transformation, especially how the arms fold up. And yeah, I would personally prefer all of those variants to the default scheme, but that's not going to stop me from buying the first release.
-
Holy crap, this is the best kind of surprise. One noteworthy point, you can see the tires in the legs rotated to lay flat. Nice to see them taking that step after all these years. Definitely in for a pair, depending on pricing, but I hope they dig up a few alternate schemes to milk the mold with, since the stock one never really appealed to me.

I love everything about the updated Enterprise model, except for the weird bridge design, and the wonky scale shenanigans they keep pulling. I don't for a moment believe that the "1/1000" kit is accurately labeled, and I just keep hoping someone will actually clear up the entire mess by giving us some good old-fashioned tech diagrams showing the deck layout. Seriously, I don't think we've gotten anything like that since the JJ-verse came about.. and I think the reasons are pretty obvious.

It's really slow, and seems Bandai are just straight up prioritizing their Delta releases over anything else.

More like the completely wrong font choice. It's supposed to be the standard TNG registry font, which... would match the rest of the text everywhere else on the shuttle. Why they would use the TOS title font instead for that one label is unfortunately just one of those typical Eaglemoss "WTF were you smoking?" moments. Fortunately, in the grand scheme of things, that's a really minor flaw in an otherwise very good model. Also, on a positive note, after finding a review of the previously released shuttle, I can confirm this one should really be called an XL version. This is the original issue here, which came out long ago: This one looks about twice as large, with a whole lot more detail, both engraved and painted. While looking for a review of this one, I also discovered that there is a second bonus set coming with the Enterprise D build-up that includes the other "Type 6" shuttle, which is actually a TNG repaint of the shuttle used in ST:V, as well as the 1701-D captain's Yacht.. which is just a flying saucer.

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII
Chronocidal replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It was mentioned briefly here recently, some people have been calling the idea the F-36 Kingsnake, some sort of a twin-tailed update of the original SCAMP design. https://fighterjetsworld.com/air/f-36-kingsnake-the-return-of-the-f-16xl/25574/ -
Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII
Chronocidal replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ok.. that just looks like an F-16XL. Given what we saw recently about them potentially reusing the design, it wouldn't surprise me if they've got a development prototype out there. -
I'm honestly not sure which scheme I would want more though. I would only really want the Elvis valk on the condition that they manage to not make the plastic a pile of swirly-white translucent pearly goop, and actually get the gold paint to stick. And seriously, just make the Ba already. I want that more than either of the stabby-wing versions.
