  1. It sure looks nice. I went ahead and ordered a VF-1J, so if I like it, I'll probably get more of these guys.
  2. I've wanted one of those Queadluun figures, so I preordered this one to go with the hi metal I want to get eventually. It's not in scale, but close enough I guess.
  3. Good question. My bet is, however, that nothing was changed. If that's the case, it's not worth the price. If they did make changes for the better, then it might be worth buying.
  4. Tornado pack or not, that 25G is definitely not worth that price. As for the 27, I got mine for about $145 from HLJ a few weeks ago and they still had a bunch of stock even after that. Is there something different about the re-released 27? Cause it doesn't look like it...
  5. This review makes me really want one of these now...
  6. I love this toy. It's awesome. Definitely worth every bit I paid. I got mine through the HLJ sale a few weeks back and it is definitely worth every penny. My only beef with the toy is the sharp fins near the cockpit. Be very careful about transforming, or else you can a) stab yourself on them or b) have them snap off. They've fallen off on me a couple of times, but thankfully the two on top are meant to come off if pressure is applied. Also, as far as the nose cone paint problems, I have none. I've been careful with it, but I've transformed it about two dozen times now, not a scratch. I have the VF-25G an I like it. The stubby landing gear is ridiculous and there are other minor problems (eg: shoulders don't lock in, articulation with the armor is very limited in the legs, no swivel for A-stance) but overall I like it. If I paid full retail for it I would have been annoyed. That being said, I probably won't pick up another VF-25 except maybe the Ozma one.
  7. Thank guys! If they did that, I would have no problems buying these up. The fact that the landing gear is swapped out bothers me. I prefer retractable landing gear, but I admit this is total irrational nit picking on my part, since I would mostly pose these flying. These toys do look fantastic. Eventually I figure I'll buy some of these...
  8. Regarding the wings: How are the wings when changing them up? I still have nightmares about the transformable Revoltech Valks. My Roy Focker wings did not want to stay on. Just touching them briefly would be enough to make them fall off.
  9. Oops, I guess I should have clarified, my comments about the VF-27 was more to do with his comment speaking out against the idea that a toy is okay so long as you don't touch it. I was just trying to relate with a similar example but I guess I messed it up, haha. Thanks about the fiddly mess part. That's a downer for sure.
  10. Sexy! I would love to own that set. Agreed. I recently got the VF-27 and while it is just awesome, i have to handle it so carefully because I'm paranoid I'm going to chip the paint or snap off one of the pointed fins. (speaking of which, that toy is pointy as all heck! I must have stabbed myself a dozen different times trying to transform it). I have a VF-25G on the way, and I'm afraid the armored parts may be too annoying to deal with.
  11. Okay, I just got my VF-27 in the mail and I think it is just pure awesome. I can see people's complaints about this toy, but overall, I think it's a beauty. The diecast gives it a nice weight, and I like the fact that the shoulder joints are diecast, they feel sturdy unlike the Yamato valks where you feel like they'll snap off. Maybe it's because I'm a newer Macross collector and I only have three valks before this one (VF-1S, SV-51, VF-0S), or maybe it's because I don't pay enough attention to line art, etc., but I think this is a fantastic toy. I love my VF-1S the best, I really like the SV-51, I don't like the VF-0S really, and I love this one. Probably my second favorite.
  12. Yeah, pretty much this, I figure. I don't know if Macross has the fanbase to support the more obscure valks. Especially at the high end 1/60 versions. I can't speak for other Macross fans, but as a pretty recent Macross collector myself (just couldn't justify the costs in the past), I won't be spending any money on valks that aren't related to one of the main characters, and even then, I would pick and chose. (eg: never gonna get a Shin valk because I think he's a wussy). Maybe if I only collected Macross, it would be different, but between this, Gi Joes, Marvel Universe, DCUC, Transformers, and the various vintage lines I collect, I just don't have the funds.
  13. I guess since every other thread is about Valks, this one being dedicate to just statues of scantily dressed anime characters seems fair. Personally, I would like to get a Sheryl figure, but only if it was fully articulated like a Figma or Revoltech with plenty of accessories. Since that doesn't seem like it'll happen, I guess I'm in for a long wait.
  14. You're right, at least the SV51 turned out good for me. As for the VF-0S, I have found that it only looks all gappy (is that a word?) and loose when it is on its landing gear. Lifting it up, everything falls into place, so I'll probably be getting a flight stand for this eventually. I actually just managed to buy a Ghost set off Amiami. They had them up for preorder again and I just got my email last night telling me it came in, so I sent them money and I should be receiving my Ghost in a couple weeks. Definitely looking forward to it.
  15. I believe I already know the answer to this, but as far as the 1/60 VF-1A Hikaru releases go, they're all bad, right? And by bad, I mean crappy shoulders. They never re-released a version with good shoulders?
  16. Exactly. I'd be interested in some stuff, particularly Frontier stuff.
  17. I've realized that the VF-0S I have is not tight at all. At first I was happy about it, I thought the QC was good, but now after a few transformations, nothing seems to stick together. My VF-1S is super tight still, all the joints lock together nice. My VF-0S just seem loose, as if some kid had been playing with it for years. It holds together in fighter mode okay, but as soon as I put it down on its landing gear or move it around a bit, it starts to want to fall apart and sag. For example, not only does the nose sag, but the vents don't fit flush against anything. There are gaps everywhere. Ah well. Disappointed for sure, conidering my VF-1S and SV-51 are excellent. Pondering now if its worth it to spring for the Ghost.
  18. Yeah, what's up with that new pricing anyway? I'm assuming at some point the Yamato valks will end up on that eventually once they work their way through their inventory to it. As for being ignored, that definitely sucks. I work in finance and I have a lot of clients, but I always get back to them even if the answer is, "I don't know. Give me a few days to look into it." Then after a few days, I follow up again, even if it's just to say, "Sorry, don't have any answer yet. I'll let you know when I do." I find that helps, when it comes to customer service. To be fair, whenever I've contacted HLJ, they've usually been good about responding back within a few business days.
  19. Thanks for the reviews and pictures!
  20. Thanks for the input guys! Woops, sorry for hijacking the thread.
  21. Okay, so I'm wondering, does anybody here actually like their 1/60 VF-25 toys? I know they have their faults, but they still look pretty good aesthetically, at least in Fighter and Battroid mode. I know some people think they look chunky, but I think they look really good. Was thinking of picking up a couple if I can get a good price.
  22. I personally like the Battroid mode and fighter mode. I don't see how it is as chunky as everyone says. However, there are some problems with the toys. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever see a complete retooling or a Yamato version of the 25s. That being said, I would only get the Michael and Ozma ones anyway, regardless of retooling. I have an opportunity to buy a Michael one for a decent price, but I'm still debating on pulling the trigger. I'll be getting my 27 by the end of the week, so I'll see how much I enjoy that first.
  23. My 1/60 VF-1S Roy Focker. Definitely. Though I only have three Valks, haha. SV-51 and VF-0S round them out, with a VF-27 to come in the next few days. But yeah, my VF-1S is definitely my favorite.
  24. I like the rainbow canopy. But I can see why people wouldn't like it, considering the problems.
  25. Any review is appreciated man. Looking forward to it!
