Yeah, the white certainly does evoke a sense of the future and our own space travel, as well as movies. eg: scenes from 2001 Space Odyssey, and the other stuff mentioned. There's just something so pristine and steril. Though I understand being tired of a basic white scheme. Most of my Macross collection is primarily white/grey. Right now the only thing that sticks out are my Monster and the Vf-27. While we're at it, I wouldn't mind a red vajra either. That would be cool. Though it would be hella big in a 1/60 scale.

I really dig the 11C. I like white robots in general. Vf-1's, Ultra Magnus, Mass Production model Eva's, etc. Dunno why. They just really appeal to me. Maybe I'm secretly racist against other coloured toys and I just don't know it yet.

Yeah, the pricepoint is kind of killer for a valk you don't see much in Plus. Still, I want one. Whether I pay the full MSRP or wait for a big Yamato sale from HLJ completely depends on what is going on at that particular time. If I am going through a bit of a toy drought, then I'd bite at the full price, since I know it's such a great toy. I guess the C shows up lots in Mac 7 though, which I haven't seen beyond one episode since every time I try it makes me want to pull my hair out.

Yamato boxes - at least the older ones, are just oversized and kinda bland. The box flap is helpful if you plan on keeping something MIB, but generally, I find the quality sort of lame. The cardboard used is really thin and in general, they just take up tons of space. I prefer the smaller bandai boxes with the styrofoam inserts, to the plastic trays Yamato uses. But that's just me. (This isn't directed at you ALEXD, but before anyone starts, I am not trying to start a "Bandai vs Yamato" argument. It's just a stated preference.)

Thanks. I've been looking at reviews online, and I just rewatched Plus again to get myself hyped. Yeah, I think the 21 is something I should just buy. And heck, if they release a better 21 later on, I'll just get that too, haha. The fighter mode is the money mode, as far as I'm concerned. I really like how it looks when you fold the wings in a bit. And barrel rolls? That would be awesome. When I had the SV-51, I couldn't do barrel rolls due to the one floppy wing I had. Yeah, the 21 is definitely my next valk. As for the 11B, I definitely have to pick one of those up, but I kind of like the color on the 11C better.

Them bids are quite nice. I would have kept those too. I normally throw out all my boxes due to lack of space though I find the bandai packaging kinda cool.

Well, there goes my plans on buying a 19 anytime soon. Now that I will probably wait for a new 19 altogether, should I wait for a new YF-21 to have a new matching set even though I haven't heard anything wrong with the 21? Hmm...

Sorry for the shitty camera phone picture. TV vs DYRL? I prefer the bleached white, but then, I am a sucker for white robots.

Yeah, if you're in the US, ordering from BBTS would be fastest in terms of how long it stays in the mail system. For me, it's faster to order right from Japan with the slowest method, than it is to get something from BBTS. It takes about 3 weeks on average for BBTS to send me stuff to Canada. It's not all BBTS' fault though; Canada customs holds packages for a week or more. And then about 90% of the time I get hit with fees. It seems the BBTS.com tape all over the box is a magnet for customs officials. Out of all the orders I've done from Amiami and HLJ in the last few years, I've only been hit with customs fees twice. the second time being just he other day for a $400 package. I think 1/100 scale is pretty dead. At least the hi metal line is.

I'm sure they'll sell it. Chances are HLJ is awaiting comfirmation on stock amounts before posting their preorder. The other sites probably jumped the gun a bit and based their orders on how the 25F sold, or something like that.
-
Considering the price range on Japanese online sites was around $135 (lowest at Amiami) to about $150 (Anime-Export - as others pointed out, preorders are still available there), yeah, that's hella pricey. But then, BBTS has always been more pricey on a whole range of toys, so it's not a surprise. I wonder when HLJ will put their preorders up?

Yeah, I've done some creative accounting to get what I need, such as selling off entire toy lines. I just sold a ton of toys, both loose and MISB/MOSC this past month, enough where I could fund the purchase of my SDF-1 plus some other non Macross items like a Masterpiece Optimus Prime. Lots of SDCC stuff was sold in order to get me those, but it'll be worth it. HLJ already sent out the package to me so I should get it next week. Going foward, I have to make a decision as to which valks I want. My top wants right now: YF-21, VF-19 and VF-11C. I've got a quarterly bonus coming up, which is earmarked for an extra mortgage payment, Christmas gifts for friends/family and a valk for myself, so I have to decide between the YF-21 + Fold Booster set, or the VF-19. I can't afford both. At any rate, to stay on topic: I love the TV VF-1 toys. The clean, pure white color is just fantastic. -
You are gonna love that valk. Just be very careful when transforming the shoulders for the first time. Takes a while to losen up. Now you need to get a VF-1J and then get the armour for it. Coolest fracking Macross item I've bought since the DX Chogokin Monster. Just sheer awesomeness. EDIT: I'm sure people already know by now according to Anymoon.com, but I can indeed confirm the clear canopy and new changes to the VF-1J. I got mine from Amiami and it is 100% safe. No messed up arms or anything. Just perfect.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

If Bandai suddenly introduced the VF-171, I would be the happiest dude in the world. -
This is how I see it too.
-
True enough. Which is why I need at least one set... If they do end up being web exclusives, what's the best store to go to for that online?
-
Yes, but I think you have to pay up front for preorders.
-
You're not the only one. I think it completely detracts from the beauty and sleekness of the plane designs. However, Ozma needs his super pack and I will be posing him in battroid mode with it.

It doesn't matter to me who made what toy. I am not even comparing quality or the amount of RnD needed to build each toy, which I realize, each toy is its own and it is unfair to strictly compare the two. However, my point is simply a $$$ issue. I never made any comment about Bandai being better than Yamato; just that the 25 was cheaper and thus the more affordable choice. The reality is, everyone has a budget, and sometimes it just comes down to what someone can afford at that particular time. People complain on here (including myself) all the time about how much something costs. To VFTF1, I was only saying 27% discount from MSRP is probably gonna be the best price one can get for a long time.
-
It's a reality though. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but this is my buying process: I want both, but I only have X amount of money right now. Which one do I want more now, and which one will I be okay to wait for? If I buy the 19, that's all I can buy. If I buy the 25, I can still afford to buy it and that Gundam figure I wanted, and I like Frontier better than Macross 7 anyway. So I opt to go for the 25. The 19 I will wait until a sale comes up, or until I can convince my girlfriend to buy it for Christmas for me instead of that crappy other gift she was probably gonna get. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this way. Which is why price point is definitely relevant to buying habits. EDIT: Dang. It would have been so much quicker to just say this. haha.
-
I think the 27% off at amiami is pretty great especially when you compare buying one of these to the Yamato 19's.
-
This will probably be correct. Bandai is redoing these and it makes sense that they would try to get as much money for this as possible. Hence making people re-buy everything. It's not like it hasn't been done before. It's pretty smart, since the Macross community seemingly continues to buy regardless. for maximilian_jenius, you should probably just try to offload your sets now and put that money towards the better versions. That's what I would do. If you take a bit of a loss on the sale, hey, consider it money spent on "renting" the toys for a couple years until Bandai got it right. The 29 turned out just fine. Much better than the original 25's. And since they are redoing everything on the 25's, I think it's safe to say it'll at least be as good as the 29. I don't see why they would go backwards. I think if you liked the VF-27 and the YF-29, safe to say you'll be happy with the new 25s.

If you look on the HLJ sale page for the Kai, it says 2560 yen for EMS. So yeah, the Blazer should cost just under $300. Like $290 or so.

I am SO glad I ordered this. Just look at that second to last picture. The toy ACTUALLY flies on its own with no support. Yes, definitely glad I will be getting this!
-
Pretty much this. I'm sure amiami threw up some low number initially and will open it up again for preorder once they get confirmation. At any rate, I think there is clearly a healthy appetite for these things, even without the armour. Glad I have my preorder in
