What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
pud333 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, if you are buying one of the newer re-releases, they should have clear canopy and new hip connection. Personally, I preferred the tinted canopy, but I know there were some problems with them, like the tint flaking off, etc. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
pud333 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah the big reason why I got the Fire over the blazer was how badass it looked with the sound boosters. I suspect it will sit on my top shelf beside my SDF-1. Definitely will be posing it in battroid on a Yamato stand. It will be a long 5 days until I get my grubby mitts on it! I suspect I will get a Blazer as well, but only if I can get it at a significant discount. I actually hate M7, so I'll be looking for deals in any other M7 valks. -
Decided to pick up Alto with Ex-Gear for $30. At that price, I figured it was a steal and too hard to pass up.

I love HLJ. That said, I love Amiami more for preorders on these things. Got both the VF-25F and VF-25S preordered through them for 10,150 yen. Can't beat that with a stick! Although it sucks that the preorders there sell out before you can even blink. But yeah, HLJ is awesome. I still go to them if I miss the Amiami preorder windows.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)

Ordered the 19 + Sound boosters. I'll have to hold off on the Blazer until a sale comes around. -
Yes. Even at full MSRP, it's not that high. BBTS has it for $214 last I checked.
-
Yup. The standard is so high with perfect transformation valkyries these days. I'm glad Bandai realized this and did a renewal of the Frontier line. Before the renewal VF-25F, I thought Bandai's best from the franchise was the Monster and the VF-27. Now I realize the VF-27 looks lame in battroid standing next to the renewal VF-25F. I now want a renewal VF-27. Since that was the only valk from Frontier that I had bought, I don't mind doubledipping on that one, especially since it's my favorite design.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)

For those that have the 1/60 VF-19 Fire, have you guys had any problems with the reported issues that the first batch of the 19s had? eg: loose ankles, parts breaking, etc. Just trying to decide if it is worth the risk to just get it from HK Collectibles at the discount, or wait and spend an extra $50 to get the one with the new fixes... -
I can dig it.
-
If you decide to cancel your order, you should post here when you do so someone else has a chance at getting it. Personally, I think it looks fantastic. But then, I'm the kind of guy that thinks red is red, blue is blue, etc.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
pud333 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That's what I mean by how strange it was for me. I loved the photos. Then I got it in hand and something was off. Maybe I expected too much. Sometimes you eagerly await something, then when you get it, it's not what you expected. It happens sometimes. I'm pretty sure it went to a good home though, so no worries there. -
This. Would be cool to have all the little men running around with the ladders, etc.
-
I'm sure it is done on purpose. Those Yamato boxes are huge.

Thanks for the picture. Looks much better. Sucks about your mom and the high bill. If she's not taking her meds, just pull what my mom always used to pull on me when she paid for stuff: lord it over her. "Hey mom, I know you don't like taking your meds, but this has cost me $6000 and fubar'd Christmas for me. I'm paying for it, so you have to take them. When the day comes when you pay for your own hospital bills, you can do whatever you want. Love you." This.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
pud333 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It was the strangest thing for me. I was super excited about it, but when I got it, it just didn't do it for me. Several things: 1) Not a fan of the integrated cannons. I prefer that sort of thing to be an add-on like the Tornado packs. 2) The VF-25's were sleek and just all around gorgeous. The YF-29 seemed like some bastardization. The bastard child of the VF-27 and the SV-51. It seemed like a step back. 3) The shoulder pads. They kept popping off whenever I transformed it. Drove me absolutely insane. At one point I caught myself before I threw it across the room. 4) No connection to that particular valkyrie. I didn't see the second movie up until now, and I don't regret selling it at all. While a lot of people loved the second movie, I thought it wasn't very good, and the use of the YF-29 was pointless. But that's just my opinion. Some people really like the 29. I recommend you wait for a reissue, or a release in a different colour. Definitely no need to pay that much for this particular valkyrie. -
This site never fails to amaze me with the number of complaints and knee jerk reactions. I doubt that's a final version, and even if it is, I still think it looks great. I can't wait to get mine!

This. I sold mine a few weeks after buying it. Overrated. I'm sure there will be a reissue, or that Ozma version will be released. Then everyone that doesn't have one, but wants one, can also be disappointed with it when they get it. haha. I know some people love it, but it's just not for me. -
Yeah, I'm the same way. It looks close enough, fine with me. I'm more worried about how detailed things are inside the cockpit, which Yamato does well in general.
-
I'm not a lineart fetishist, but when you look at the anymoon review, I think the v2 looks very close to it. So if the cockpit is small, it's more a problem with the actual original design than the toy.
-
Nice review jenius. Personally, I think it deserved a better mark than the YF-29, but it's a personal preference that sets my opinion apart. While you liked the integrated guns, I didn't. I prefer that sort of thing to be separate, like the Tornado set. To me, the VF-25 is like a hot chick, where as the YF-29 is like a hot chick with fake boobs. I like both, but I would prefer natural if I could. The score is pretty spot on though. Durability is definitely where this toy suffers, as I pretty much transform it like I'm doing brain surgery. Slowly, deliberately, delicately.
-
I'm sure HLJ will get more Ozmas in the way they got more Altos in. The demand for Ozma is big. I expect most online stores to get another batch in as soon as the toy is released and preorders are fulfilled. It's just a matter of when. Just keep checking online.
-
Got my second VF-25F in the mail. Yus!
-
Yeah, there are some really gorgeous touches to this toy. Definitely one of the best valks ever. Fighter mode is so amazing, I can't bring myself to leave it transformed in any of the other modes for very long.
-
Thanks for the advice! I also have the super pack on order, and will be getting the tornado packs. I will pass on the Armor for Alto since I most associate that with Ozma. The thing about Alto's bird is that I like how it looks nekkid, so I will probably take the other one out to display as is in fighter mode, while I switch the other Alto between Super and Tornado packs - whatever I feel like at that time.
-
Same here. I got a second one specifically so I can manhandle this one without worrying about paint chipping, etc. I've probably played with it every day since I got it, and transformed it multiple times. No fear, cause I got another one sitting pretty in box, haha. I plan on getting duplicates of Ozma too, but I might wait to see if a bundled Ozma comes out before I buy a second one. Also, I don't count getting a DYRL VF-1S Roy and the TV version as having duplicates. Though I may eventually get another TV Roy if HLJ ever includes it again in their big sales.
