  1. Lady M is obviously a post-op Dr. Chiba. The 17/171 transformation is far from simple. It also, retroactively, shares more with the SV-51 than the VF-1.The 19/24 transformation isn't that complex either. The central fuselage folds similar to the "classic" transformatiin, but in reverse. This allows it to be brought into the body, while still keeping the legs attached, without needing to figure out a swing arm system, which was the main issue with the VF-1 (and why finding a "perfect transformation" for it was so tricky). In universe, by the time of the YF-24's derivatives, it's likely been perfected to the point where it's easy and cost effective to implement - especially in the VF-31s case where the arms don't need to go into the centerline, but rather, are integrated into the wings. The latter leaves space for extra weaponry/equipment to be carried out back.
  2. Since there's no aerodynamic drag in space to overcome, doesn't that mean that the engines wont have to continously keep outputting thrust just to maintain speed? That could help with the cooling in space.
  3. Var Syndrome means that they can easily turn a NUNS garrison to their side.
  4. Now I remember what those drones reminded me off. Boeing's Dream Chaser. Also, Northrop's earlier lifting body test bed, the HL-10.
  5. She recognizes Roid since he's the chancellor of Winderemere. This is like recognizing Joe Biden since he's the Vice President of the USA.
  6. Gives more credence to the theory that EX-Gears and other general advancements have made piloting planes/VFs so ubiquitous that they're almost like cars now where it's easy to hop in from one to another.
  7. Yeah, but as stated, the holosuit concept, at least as it appeared in those early Frontier episodes seems to have been dropped.
  8. The opening shows them with helmets and they just get holographed out. Episode 4 shows that they do have a general "uniform". However it seems that holographic tech has progressed to the point where they no longer need special suits underneath. Actually, they haven't needed those suits since the Frontier since later episodes (as well as the movies) seem to have dumped that idea.
  9. Everybody else was extra careful to not eat any pineapple based products at least a week before the live.
  10. I wonder what's up with Keith. Unlike Heinz and Gramia, his second name (mother's maiden name?) is Aero, not Nerich/Erich. Might be an important thing about his character, especially with how formal he was trying to be around Heinz, even though the latter was looking for some brotherly affection. Imagine Basara chucking a giant speaker pod onto the bridge of whatever Roid is on. And then grandma Milia orders Hayate and Mirage to crash the party and perform a kiss since it's supposed to be "standard operating procedure" even as they complain that "they're not rogue Zentraedi".
  11. I wanna see more on how the VF-31E's dish folds out. That said, the whole folding thing for that, as well as the weapons pods on the other 31s seems like an interesting concept.
  12. What makes people susceptible to Var Syndrome is the one major thing about it that the show hasn't answered yet. I suspect that it'll somehow be an important plot point later on. How high they're flying over the crowd doesn't seem consistent in the shots. Some of it might just be down to "rule of cool" where the realism of a shot is ignored in favor of how impressive it must look. That said, there's a couple of shots when they're in front of Walkure shielding them from attack where it looks as if they are quite high, especially in the shot where Hayate and Chuck are being shot at by the 171s, they seem to be hovering quite high above ground level.
  13. Just drop Basara onto the Windermere capital and you'll have Heinz shouting "BOMBAAA" in no time flat.
  14. Anyone know the name of that song that they sung at the end of this episode (and last episode as well)? She was notable enough though Sheryl included mention of her in one of her concerts. The "small fry" he was referring to was Sharon, not Freyja.

Transformation looks annoyingly complex. Makes me want to get the toy. The way the legs work is very Escaflowne-ish.
  16. Imagine, it's the final battle, and the idols are singing, then a red and gold VF-31 flies in and shouts "that's not how you do it!", then transforms in the middle of the battle as he shouts "LISTEN TO MY SONG!" yozora wo kakeru RABU HA-TO moeru omoi wo nosete kanashimi to nikushimi wo uchiotoshite yuke omae no mune ni mo RABU HA-TO
  17. Usually, with a compound word like "catfish", the second word tends to be the one that's being modified by the first. So "catfish" means "a cat-like fish". As for "mercat", which is a portmanteau (of mermaid and cat), it makes sense because they do look like mermaid versions of cats - cat upper bodies with piscine lower bodies.

If they release a toy of that tan 171, I hope they don't fix the mirrored NUNS wording on its right side.
