  1. Exactly what I thought, especially the revolutionary hip cover and the rotating wrist. Bandai, however, is adapting the hip bar mechanism that was shown in the VF-1 Masterfile, IIRC.

    1/55's revisited

I think it's the same on automobile headlamps, there is no way you could save the plastic lens once its yellowing or deteriorating. The yellowing comes back faster than before after you do sanding and buffing because you are removing the surface layer by exposing the lower layer without protection. You could slow down the process with good sealer and clear coat that won't yellowing like the factory coating.
  3. The tricks about opening the cockpit and front landing gear cover are lifting them up before you swing to flip.
  4. Not sure what color it is, but it looks pretty close to the color on GBP armors.
  5. I reckon it's molded in the same color as the dyrl super/strike parts in the same sprue.
  6. I think a 9" figure is the best size in term of handling, engineering capability within the price point. I never like the 1/48 scale, partly because of the size, poor fitments, and proportions, so they are dead for good.
  7. Honestly all their kit versions should have been molded in some sort of grey. I don't understand why would they molded in white or official colors plus a sheet of decals on markings that they already released in toy version. If I wanted an official markings, I would have bought the toy.
  8. Are you guys talking about the rotation of 22 on page 9? I see many people don't rotate that to enable more degree of elbow movement, it's very tight so I won't even try that. I prefer this thing in fighter mode. Did you fold the fin properly on step 11 like what it shows on step 12? Don't be fooled by step 13.
  9. Mine is pretty easy to transform, the fuselage pressed down easily. The only hard time I had was the right ankle, it was very tight and took me a while to pull it out safely. Hope the second one shows up as good as this one next Monday.
  10. I just got mine today from HLJ which they shipped on Jan 7, so it only took 3 days by EMS to east coast via New York custom.
  11. I think what should surprise you is the fitments and craftsmanship of recent 1/60 since V2 VF-1, those 1/48 have fair fitments for its era.
  12. I just wanted to give this thread alive again and hope for the best in 2013.
  13. This could have been posted before since I've seen this from toysdaily couple days back. http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-199093-1-3.html
  14. I thought this VFX version is limited to begin with?
  15. I have two VF-4, one VE-1 and an air craft deck base kit in private warehouse, the shipping turns out to be 6,200 yen for all. I moved around the cart and get 1,300 yen EMS for one VF-4 and the deck base OR 2,980 yen EMS for VE-1 plus VF-4. I paid 1,300 yen to ship one VF-4 and the air craft deck base, I will ship another VF-4 and VE-1 later. The point is, you have to move around your items to see the best combination of shipping. Throwing everything in one giant box is not gonna save you anything, and I believe 2 Yamato boxes in one package works the best.
  16. Shipping not included yet with that price. I guess you do need to pay more attention.
  17. Found this from Yamato's tweeter, getting closer.
  18. I'm sure many members are going to upset with the collar and the absence of "neck", but I think it looks fine.
  19. That's how the game is played. You either be the early bird to get it while stock last or pay less later on if the supply exceeded demand. You really don't know which is the case, but it's always a good option if you are considering to get duplicate.
  20. I was thinking about that too for the VF-4, but the 20% shipping discount is only offered until Dec 19.
  21. I believe the selling point of this model kit is "transformable in 3 modes", when was the last time we saw a transforming VF-1 model kit? Yes, Hasegawa has done the VF-1 in fighter and battroid, but those are fixed in each mode. Also, I cannot interpret the link between the Hasegawa fighter and battroid kit because the proportion on many parts have been changed. What Bandai is doing now is the answer to Hasegawa and long overdue refresh on Imai's VF-1 transformable kit. IMO, the Yamato 1/60 scale VF-1 is still a toy, even though they released it as a kit but it's still a kit to build into a toy, not a scale model kit.
