Well, it's been over a month, and going by what HG has said, the battlepods are still on a boat, supposedly on their way. Now, are they on a damn row boat, or sail boat? I've had stuff arrive by boat, and all I can say is, they should've announced them being here by now if that was true. I'm sure the boat is waiting for the gas prices Kevin thinks is the cause of anime conventions supposedly dying, to go down. Wait, they have been down for awhile, at least lower than what people were thinking was going to happen during the summer. Or, maybe it's still waiting for more items to fill the boats, because China hardly has anything to export, and we hardly import anything from them. In other news, did anyone listen to the podcast just put up recently where Tommy mentions that the side project won't be out till Christmas next year? Apparently, it's because they are too busy with a re-re-re-release of Robotech. They also haven't decided on a name for it, and don't even want to excite their fans by letting them know what studio is doing it, or doing much of anything for that matter. There's one thing I thought of...will the distributor for the side project be A&E, a company that doesn't have the visible presence in animation or anime industry at all, or will they shop and try to rebuild burnt bridges from Funimation, or Sentai, or even Manga or another animation distributor? I wonder if that issue of distribution will be a repeat of the fiasco HG got into with trying to get the big distributor that bit them in the @ss a few years ago with RTSC. Oh well, not complaining, more like simply clowning the thoughts. Sometimes figuring out the thought process for HG is an interesting case study on WHAT NOT TO DO.

I thought it was going to be just the top portion, as the waist and legs are the exact same. Either way, I have the destroid parts just in case, and I'd rather chance it, then have only half of it, and then have to start looking. I think if the phalanx comes out with only the top half, the other releases will probably be in higher demand, and may shoot the price up a bit. I really don't want to get into that position.

Congrats...As far as solidness, the 11 series are probably some of the most durable, and solid Macross toys there are. I got the 11C the previous sale, I was tempted to get another 11B for a custom, but with news and talk of the phalanx, I'm going with just the destroid.
-
I decided to finally get my destroid, and may get another for the next destroid coming. That said, I didn't really see anything that stood out too much.

It just has to do with not wanting to paint it, and the grey is more of a real world color. Just a better color to start with.
-
Those are also 1A and 1J heads in the unpainted white. That would be great to see. Even moreso, would be to see unpainted, or unassembled 1D, VT-1, or something like that... and in grey, not white.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just got done watching "Now and Then, Here and There", and finishing up "Angel Beats". On Netflix, I'm watching "Monster". Angel Beats is pretty decent, it's only 13 episodes, so it's only a two day viewing. Monster is pretty dark, but is also very interesting. If you like mystery, and heavy plot series, you may like Monster. -
No Beagle Blow Superior... that blows superior...

If done right, the CMs hold decently in fighter. The legs are free floating, which isn't that great, but it's a good toy. I don't think it's worth the bang for the buck, but if you can find the drone for a good price, or even the dark Legioss, I think those are worth it. Ahhh, if only Yamato got into making these w/ a tread in 1/60 scale, I'd sell off all the Toynami ones to purchase those. -

Hahaha, it's like asking if you'd rather be kicked in the groin by a 5 year old, or punched in the groin by a 10 year old. either way, I don't think either outcome is great. I will say though, that CMs Drone fighter is awesome. I think that's the best out of all of em. Hmmm, I bet if you put the Gakken in there, that'd be the winner. -
If it comes with eng. subs, expect a purchase from me for certain! Epic win for Gunbuster fans. I will definitely purchase this as soon as the local shop brings it in.

That, I understand, but to do it at this time and age, especially when it's direct to consumer media, that, I can see, as being quite frustrating. Leaving off the original series to "find Admiral Hunter" is fine, but what I believe hurt them, is dwelling on that story so long, and hyping it up for so long, that now it's the staple of the entire series. They spent all that time and effort into that story, that they don't have anything else really after that. And now you have RTSC, which is just a tease for those who have to know about Hunter, and in order to tell that story, instead of doing something interesting with it, they pull it around ANOTHER aliens attack earth story.

When I first watched Robotech in 85, I definitely wanted to know what happened to Rick Hunter out of the fact that they purposefully set that up to want to find out. I agree, that they do have this idea that these characters have to stay as long as possible, and if they leave, people will lose interest in the series. However, even as a kid, I didn't need to see what happened to all the characters. There's this thing called imagination that most people use, and it will fill in gaps and helps generate creativity in each person, to make the story up in between, at the end points, and whatnot. For some reasoning that is beyond any sense, they take every character in Robotech, and make way too much out of their story. They relate just about everyone to someone else in all the generations, and the fact that they do that really dumbs down the ability of the fans to have that gap so that they can make up their own story. I mean really, they've stapled this "What happened to Rick Hunter" thing so much, that they kinda put themselves in their own pit. Now, many fans have to know what happens to him since they didn't wrap anything up in RTSC, and at the slow rate they do things, it could take, I dunno, forever to end that worn out story. It's why, IMO, the Macross franchise is a much better story. They give a lot of history details, fleet info, character info, etc., but it's told in gaps, and they don't rehash the same characters in every single series. Do we all want to know what happened to Hikaru Ichijo and Misa Hayase??? Of course, but it's not like we need a new series on it. It makes for interesting conversation amongst fans, if you want to engage in the stories of what happened in others' opinions. Not only that, but Macross doesn't have the constraints of having to be stuck in the same place and time with the stories, and is able to expand out, yet still retain enough connection with what has come before, to keep all fans, old and new, invested in the story.

Some RT fans are so special, short bus special. They have this dream that they're going to wake up, and it's going to be 1985 all over again. I don't get it, but then again, that reference above is more likely from someone who has no clue what is current, what is in and out of style when it comes to trends in anime, and probably doesn't even really know or care much for anime to begin with.

$261 is close to what I paid for mine, so, if you're asking if it's what everyone else is paying for it, then you're on track there. It is a lovely figure, and probably one of the best representations of Sheryl. It's hot, very colorful, detailed, and has a lot of mass. I found it worth the money, as I plan to keep it for a very long time.

It's a great show IMO, but some people don't like it. I really like the characters, and the mecha isn't bad, either. Oh, and if you count Mikimoto's characters, which really stand out well in this series, it adds up to a fun show to watch. The link to the auction? That is down. On Yahoo Japan, as soon as an auction is won, the item details and such are taken down. They've got some really great pictures and details in these sketches, and the papers are big.

"It's a geyser!"

That doesn't really answer why all the other characters have the same names, and same characteristics just about to the tee. Retcon/reboot/sequel??? It's either one, or the other, and if it is to be explained as a sequel, that's probably the lamest point in the entire show. It really shouldn't be that complicated.

I got reboot out of watching it more so than sequel. If there was a Lion-o alpha and they are referring to the original, then there would need to be alpha versions of the young cats, Cheetara, Panthro, Tigra, etc. That wouldn't make very much sense, and it'd also be kinda lame. I finally saw it last night, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. It's geared for all ages, and has enough story to feel like a real show, not something thought up on a lunch break. Well done, to all the people who worked on this, and a thank you to them, for making a reboot that is worth its weight.

It's not oscar worthy or anything, but it definitely was a fun movie to watch. My wife and I both enjoyed it very much. Solid story, good action, and two very cool actors. Not to mention Olivia Wilde is hot. This one is worth a view at the theater, and probably a purchase on blu-ray. As a sidenote, the aliens are pretty badass in this. They aren't sissified, that's for certain.

The question is....WHY??? If it's to give a nod to th Macross characters, NEWS FLASH!!! Macross is the nod to its own legacy. Stop trying to hack together your own crap based off of someone else, and write blaze your own trail. Stop living off the coattails of the success of Macross.

I noticed that the new screen comparisons of R2: the Sentinels has one image larger than the other. Does that mean that they are clipping some of the video? They must be doing a half assed cleanup as well, as it doesn't look that clean. Maybe it's early, and there will be more cleanup, but this still doesn't make the set worth $100.

I think when I'm gone from this world, my ashes will be put into all my valkyries, and launched into space. Talk about piloting a Valkyrie in real life...kinda.

Nice displays. I like how you put it all out there. Very cool.

You think this is bad? This is common talk. You should hear some of the angered RT fans.
