So at long last I finished slapping my VF-31J kit together. Been really busy as of late, so I only could work on it a little bit at a time whenever I had a bit of free time. So what could've probably be done in a few days took me well over a month. Overall it felt a little easier to build than the old VF-25 kits, and the parts seem to fit better. I still damaged some stuff through carelessness, like snapping that damned head laser lol And some size comparisons. With the 1/72 VF-25F: With the 1/72 VF-27: With the DX VF-25F: And with the 1/100 YF-29

Gundam marker is probably way too thick for these little models. I'd recommend a wash or very fine mechanical pencil.

To this day, I have never gotten a successful preorder in at Amiami for any Bandai DX release on the preorder start date. And I'm there refreshing the page at 4 pm like everyone else. But I've always managed to get an order in somewhere.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

Figmas easily have the best joints of any humanoid action figures. And they look great too. Still waiting for Bandai or Max Factory to release the first seven Iron Man suits. I don't like the Revoltech releases. Disappointed that there was not a single figma release from Frontier. -
Masking tape. Be sure to use masking tape that's meant for modeling, and not regular old masking tape you can buy anywhere. It's easier to work with and won't leave a sticky mess on your stuff. http://hlj.com/search/go?w=Tamiya%20masking%20tape

I'd have to buy 6. 3 for each mode, 3 for each mode with fast packs. -
Yamato SV-51 Nora or VF-0A Arcadia,Which one should i get first?
Lolicon replied to thetrollphysicist's topic in Toys
I wouldn't pay more than $200 tops for an SV-51. That's like a 10 year old toy now. And it suffers from lots of loose joints, as noted above. The Arcadia VF-0A is a much better toy, *if* you get one with good legs. (Mine is rock solid.) -

From one of her concerts I attended awhile back. So much better than any of the Walkure. What angles do you speak of, sir? I actually can't tell at a glance either. Maybe if I put both under a bright light... It's that gleaming white with slight pink/purplish hue that you sometimes see in like Bandai model kits that also are molded in a blindingly bright white (like the 1/72 VF-25 kit). Honestly, I don't really notice it at all, unless I have it sitting under a bright lamp next to an older Yamato VF-1. The Yamato Queadluun Rau is a huge, imposing toy, but it's not particularly detailed. Build quality is solid enough, but in terms of detail it's essentially an oversized Robot Spirits Queadluun Rea with movable fingers and a removable pilot. Nice haul. I see what you did there, making it seem like the HM VF-19 is larger and more impressive than the Yamato. -

Dammit Saburo, now I'm thinking about getting a third YF-19! -

For some reason I have two of those Miria sets. Finally opened my Arcadia 1S (since I was approaching the 10 day HLJ deadline) and I gotta say she looks spectacular in the Arcadia gleaming white! Just needs a panel wash and she's good to go! Now if she just had a rainbow canopy... Pop quiz: Are those the Arcadia strike parts or did I put on a set of Yamato strike parts? I've had this for some time, but I was cleaning my desktop and thought I'd share one of my most prized Macross-related items. -
I'm sure you'll be able to find a few post release. Worst case scenario you'll have to get one from Mandarake at a small mark up.

Depends on your card. Mine has no foreign transaction fees. A good thing too, considering how much money I spend at all these Japanese shops. But the difference is still way more than 2.5%.

Perhaps a reissue isn't such a bad thing... https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1050523980&ref=list

$135 if I chose to pay in USD but only $121 by paying in yen on my credit card. Kind of a big difference there.

2700 for registered SAL when EMS is 2720 yen? WTF NY?!

Thank goodness they fixed the chest stripes on these two. I'll pay the slight mark up from NY. Beats having to deal with preorder madness any day!

I got all the DYRL valks with the old Yamato off-white and rainbow canopies, so I'm not concerned about color matching them to Arcadia releases.

It'll be a retail box in a brown box in another brown box which will then be shipped in an even larger brown box after NY asks for additional payment for shipping charges.
