All the effort and engineering that went into this thing and Bandai still refuses to paint the landing gear white. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's something I wish they'd do, what with all the crazy tampo and such.

Grats on the cheap 31C! Hopefully the super parts don't go up in price, but even Messer's has climbed up quite a bit post-release. I didn't even know I wanted that Enterprise, till I saw it for sale. Haven't had a chance to open it to compare to the regular "duck egg blue" version. Hey, it's your profile pic! Not familiar with that series though. Is it about a group of tuba players who save their school from a cabal of sinister bassoonists? -

Wasn't planning any other large purchases until the PF SDF-1 came out, but then I saw the rare Aoshima TV color Enterprise-D for a really good price and had to have it! Also been wanting another green 27 for ages now, and picked that up pretty cheap too.

Finally got around to backing up all the pictures I've taken on my phone over the past couple of years and came across these. They're pics of the 1/1 scale Messiah over at the Sky Tree Sky Town. I didn't see "1/1" in the topic line but I wasn't sure where I could put these. It's nothing new but I figured I'd post them for peeps who'd like to see them. I'll put them under the spoiler tag so people don't have to endure a wall of pics each time they look here. On a side note, the caretaker at the exhibit eyed me suspiciously, like he was concerned I was going to jump the barrier and climb into the cockpit. He was right to do so.

I think it looks great with just a panel wash and added decals. No need for panel shading or weathering since that's not shown in the anime anyway. Still gotta clear coat it though, if only to protect the decals. -
It's still available at HLJ but you'll have to pay their mark up... I wish I had gotten two with my discount coupon. Maybe I can snag one tax free in Akihabara next month...

Roy was a web exclusive that came a special stand. If yours didn't include it then the previous owner lost it or kept it for themselves. I like the cat powered suits. The dog reminds me of the Rick & Morty episode where dogs took over the world. -
You can just visit Mandarake yourself and they'll open it up and inspect the item prior to purchase (unless it's a sealed & new item) and then you can take it home yourself and not have to worry about it getting banged up in transit by the postal service. Of course that's even more expensive, but Mandarake is worth the visit!

The colors are reversed because this is the Kelvin timeline YF-19. Which means instead of being 18 meters tall like the Prime YF-19, it's 180 meters tall. Makes sense, right?

Yeah, that's how you'd want to do it... if you're a serious modeler and not a lazy cheapo like me. What I did: 1. Mask all transparent parts then add panel lines via wash and/or mechanical pencil. 2. Apply decals directly onto plastic surface, using Mr Mark Setter and Mr Mark Softer (as needed) to deal with any issues with silvering (usually only a problem on dark surfaces like the super parts). 3. Use weathering master for any additional detail. 4. Clear coat to seal everything in and remove masking tape. 5. Profit! I don't transform my stuff much, but scratching hasn't been a huge issue. Of course stuff scrapes against each other, but that happens with a coat or not. -
What month does this come out? I might have to sell two of my 19 Advance and replace them with this.

Hmmm it's more like using a sponge or powder puff and smudging it on. I use Q-tips because I've found that it's near impossible to clean off all the old weathering residue on a reusable tool, so it makes it too hard to get a really light touch. It also doesn't stick very well on glossy surfaces (like the VF-25) so you'll have to apply a flat coat of some kind before using it. -
Yeah, I used a second Gmail account for commerce, but it got to be a bit of a hassle switching back and forth so I started using a Zoho mail account as my spam account. But Gmail is pretty good at sorting spam and such out, so I might not need it anymore.
