  1. Finally satisfied with my DX 1S and the last of the hobby work for the year. Have a good Christmas everyone!
  2. Speaking of tampo printing, I really shouldn't have to spend time fixing this kind of screw up.
  3. Thanks though I don't use stickers either. Never liked them. Too thick and yeah the adhesive fails over time so eventually they begin to peel. I'm happy that Bandai tampo prints everything but baffled when they add lots of excessive marking but skip basic ones like the ejection seat. Still need to fix that 100 on the stabilizer too.
  4. All the things that I wish Bandai would've done to make the DX better would not have impacted the price in any significant way. Correctly sized pilot, HUD details, painted landing gear, smaller text font, not skipping important markings like the ejection seat or skull emblems... stuff Yamato was doing a long time ago.

    Macross figures

I'll buy it. I'm a consumer whore. If I'm going to drop a lot of money on a figure, it'll be Sheryl or Ranka.
  6. We're only talking about exterior aesthetics with those images. Please read more carefully before getting set off.
  7. That's not a bad comparison. Material-wise they're not really any different to me. They're still mostly plastic with some diecast content. It's not like Bandai used carbon nanotubes and a titanium swing bar or something. Bandai does wisely use diecast in some spots that might endure higher stresses (like the backpack hinge) to improve durability over the Yamato design. The extra thigh joint is a nice addition to the legs. The shoulder mechanism is a wash for me. It's different, but not really an improvement. And it leaves an unsightly gap in fighter mode. The tampo printing is nice, but like someone said earlier, it needs to be shrunk down 50%. Take that Corvette above and write "CHEVY" across the entire side in huge white letters and that's what Bandai's tampo is like. Bandai even takes some steps back, like with the ridiculously tiny pilot, unpainted landing gear, no console detail (until the 1S), a swing bar that detaches if you look at it wrong, intake covers that often pop loose, and arms that are held in place in fighter mode by a two weeny little tabs and a lot of hope. There isn't anything here Bandai couldn't have done at 1/60 scale. As for the strike parts, they're either the same or even a step backwards from Yamato in all areas except the additional tampo printing.
  8. Yamato is the Porsche with it's beautifully curved surfaces. Bandai's blocky fighter is the Chevy.
  9. Thanks but I've already fixed it. Just a dab of super glue and put the two halves back together and she's as good as new! Oh, they were being used for education purposes, so it falls under Fair Use anyway. Not like you were reposting someone else's work and pretending it was yours.
  10. That's not the Bandai DX. The landing gear are the wrong color.
  11. It came apart at the seams where it was glued together. I can just super glue it back in the morning after I pick up some more glue. It's just shoddy assembly by Bandai, since that part's only purpose is to help line up the swing bar in fighter mode. Considering how liberal Bandai is with gluing anything and everything together, it's a bit surprising that such a part would come apart at all.
  12. Part broke while transforming my 1J. It's an easy enough fix, but considering it's a part that doesn't move at all, it shouldn't break so easily. Very shoddy, Bandai.
  13. The DX strike parts look good, but I feel they're a step backwards on a toy that's made a bunch of steps forward. That's Bandai for you: always two steps forward, one step back. The lack of internal detail isn't a dealbreaker for me, but it's disappointing that Bandai cheaped out there. The color is a wash (looks way too blue in some pics), and the tampo is borderline excessive/obnoxious. Aside from the tampo printing, the DX strike parts are a step backwards from what Yamato did 10+ years ago. Let's not forget the gigantic holes that Bandai left in the legs of the DX for attachment points, instead of just using Yamato's way of connecting that doesn't leave big unsightly holes on the legs.
  14. Whoa whoa, are you saying that Bandai misrepresented their products to us, their loyal customer base? That's never happened before!
  15. Hey noel, didn't know you were also in the neighborhood at the time! When did you go? I'm afraid if you weren't there the day stores started selling, then you were outta luck, unless you were way out in the boonies.
  16. Yeah, so unlike NY and AE, BiJ had separate listings for the SSP December batch and the April batch. That's why I ordered a set from them for my 1S, as I knew I'd get it in December. The others can wait till April since we don't have those valks yet.
  17. I had a feeling AE might shaft those of us who ordered early by making us wait till April, and I needed a 4th set anyway, so I ordered a set from Big in Japan and already got a shipping notice for it.
  18. SSP available now if you don't want to wait until April. https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1126326850&ref=list&keyword=マクロス
  19. That's much better than putting the hands back into the arms!
  20. Here you go. It's for 1/60 but the mini skull emblem is just right for the DX. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-60-Macross-VF-1-transformation-VF-1A-S-Model-Kit-Water-Slide-Decal-21x29cm/382171649589?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item58fb349635:g:RM4AAOSwIGlZbcOf
  21. I'm curious what toys he's referring to that allowed storage of all the accessories like swappable hands.
  22. Probably shouldn't use the same argument as people who opposed minimum wages, child labor laws, and regulations banning putting arsenic in food. If you're so "pro-freedom" then you should appreciate his freedom to complain about a product he feels is unsatisfactory.
  23. Do the leg armors have any internal details or are they also just as empty?
  24. 1S available at AE for highway robbery price. http://www.anime-export.com/product/46137
