SSP available for those that don't want to wait until April. https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1128221353&ref=list&keyword=マクロス

As I already wrote in my DX SSP impressions, the DX's tabbing system for holding the legs and arms in fighter mode are inferior to Yamato. I'm not so wowed by some tampo and a few improvements that I will overlook such obvious flaws.

Same here. I'd much rather apply a few decals myself than go through the hassle of carefully masking and painting the landing gear and having to take great care not to accidentally peel off Bandai's shoddy tampo application. And yet despite Bandai's tampo craze, they still miss some key markings that I consider a must, like the ejection seat warnings and the skull insignia behind the cockpit. Then there's the stupid 100 printing... "Except for [insert long list of drawbacks], the DX is the best VF-1 ever!" Reminds me of a drug commercial where most of the run time is spent on warnings and side effects. "If your gunpod stays extended for more than four hours, please see your doctor right away." Another thing I've noticed is how far forward leaning the DX front landing gear is, which became even more noticeable after @jenius posted his side by side comparison pic: Not a major thing, but now I can't unsee it. Also, even the DX DYRL pilot is still too small, but way better than the TV pilots. -

DX 1S for 25k. https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1128090872&ref=dos&keyword=マクロス

It means it has to be ordered directly from Bandai and regular retailers like HLJ, Amiami, B&M stores, etc. will not have it (not counting secondhand goods). If you live outside Japan, then you'll have to order through a proxy service like From Japan, or from one of the web retailers that carry p-Bandai web exclusives for a small mark-up (AE, NY, Mykombini, etc). The benefit to being a web exclusive is that there is no PO madness. You just go to the retailer or proxy of your choice and very leisurely put an order in.

Wait a second. Are you saying my DX RVF-25 doesn't have additional onboard electronics that the other VF-25s lack?

I hope they follow the HMR route on this and make Roy's 1S a web exclusive.
-
If Arcadia makes it, it will be super expensive. If Bandai makes it, it will be cheaper, but will be super hard to obtain a PO because Bandai will allocate like 3 units to each retailer. Also, Daedalus and Prometheus will be sold separately as a web exclusive for 10k yen. Each. And with no opening hatch on the Daedalus because Bandai doesn't do internal details.

1S available for the low, low price of 30k yen! https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1128011520&ref=list&keyword=マクロス

Man, Bandai hasn't even completed any squadrons in the HMR line, which is supposed to be the "most complete" Macross toy line. With Bandai, just because they previewed it doesn't mean it will ever be released. So I'm not praising Bandai for jack until I have a preorder.

If even Yamato didn't release an Alaska base variant, it's pretty much guaranteed Bandai won't. We'll be lucky if Bandai finishes the Hikaru, Max, and Kakizaki TV squadron. TV and movie SDF-1 are completely different.

Compared to Yamato, who priced themselves out of business.

Since we're on the subject of USPS incompetence, I just received a parcel from HLJ. Seeing as I have not shipped anything from them since early November, I'm assuming these are my replacement SV-51 legs that USPS pulled a "return to sender" on without even attempting to deliver or leaving a slip on my door or mailbox. Had to check the status online with the tracking number HLJ provided to find out what happened to it. -
Any kind of paint/weathering can be rubbed off. I fully expect that stuff to rub off on surfaces that regular rub and scrape against each other. I would take care when transforming it and not be too rough if you're concerned about scratches and paint rub. Even Bandai toys like the MB Evas come with warnings about areas of potential paint rub.

Ever since the beginning of time we started collecting plastic toys, man has yearned to destroy the sun.

One of many articles that come up when you Google "Do LED bulbs generate UV light?" https://oeo.com/led-lights-emit-uv-radiation/ For the majority of LED light bulbs, in industrial applications and otherwise, they do not give off UV radiation. In earlier incarnations of LED lighting the reason they did not emit UV radiation was their inability to give off white light. However, since the advent of white light LEDs, this has changed. White light LED bulbs are created by coating brilliant blue LEDs in phosphor. This allows the blue to be absorbed and only allow the white to come through. Although most types of LED lighting do not emit any UV light, brilliant blues do emit a small amount. However, the phosphor reduces this to such a small fraction of the already small amount, the amount emitted is essentially negligible. There is no need for a filter and this is why they are used in many environments where photosensitivity is a concern.

Very nice! I was very close to pulling the trigger on that stealth myself when it popped up, but glad to see it's found a good home. -
Thanks for the mini-review! I was curious how this baby would turn out. Giving an honest critique of a product isn't being disrespectful towards the creator. I would say not giving an honest appraisal would be disrespectful to the folks who might be interested in it. That said, I'll keep holding out hope for a Figuarts version...
