  1. Are you new here? Nitpicking details is the number one pastime here.
  2. Been saying that since the HMR line started. The HMR fanboys got their panties in a twist and didn't want to hear it. Many of the markings are way oversized. Maybe the tampo guy at Bandai lost his glasses.
  3. Already gone.
  4. On a side note, can someone more knowledgeable about aircraft tell me what this string of letters and numbers on the leg is supposed to be?
  5. Looks great! Now I'm really looking forward to getting mine!
  6. No, I let @waverider have the preorder since I'm not a big enough Gundam fan to really want to drop a grand on it. Waiting for Bandai to give Focker's 1S the Metal Structure treatment and I'll spend that much.
  7. AE shipped my SSPs. I'll receive those ahead of my SAL-shipped BiJ set. A bit ironic since I ordered from BiJ expecting AE to make me wait until April.
  8. Looks great! I haven't soldered anything together since modding my Bandai Enterprise, but now you've got me thinking of breaking out the soldering iron again.
  9. Yeah, what are you gonna do? Go buy a Toynami?
  10. If I were a huge Gundam fan and Bandai didn't charge an extra $300 for funnels, I'd absolutely want one of these as a display centerpiece. A strike VF-1S (Focker yellow preferably) at this size and detail and I'd absolutely take the plunge. Of course, Bandai would charge 100,000 for the valk and another 50,000 for the strike parts as a p-Bandai exclusive. With no internal details.
  11. Thanks! Added the skull emblems behind the cockpit and a few more miscellaneous markings, including some additional lift and jack points above and below the aircraft. Whoa! I checked my AE account and all my SSPs were ready to ship! Went ahead and requested shipping on all mine. AE never sends me notices when stuff is in stock and ready to be shipped.
  12. Just saw it. It was as stupid as The Last Jedi, just in different ways. The high audience score on Rotten Tomatoes only validates to me what one reviewer said years ago: Star Wars fans want to keep seeing the same thing, just reconfigured differently. Which describes The Rise of Skywalker perfectly.
  13. Finally satisfied with my DX 1S and the last of the hobby work for the year. Have a good Christmas everyone!
  14. Speaking of tampo printing, I really shouldn't have to spend time fixing this kind of screw up.
  15. Thanks though I don't use stickers either. Never liked them. Too thick and yeah the adhesive fails over time so eventually they begin to peel. I'm happy that Bandai tampo prints everything but baffled when they add lots of excessive marking but skip basic ones like the ejection seat. Still need to fix that 100 on the stabilizer too.
  16. All the things that I wish Bandai would've done to make the DX better would not have impacted the price in any significant way. Correctly sized pilot, HUD details, painted landing gear, smaller text font, not skipping important markings like the ejection seat or skull emblems... stuff Yamato was doing a long time ago.

    Macross figures

I'll buy it. I'm a consumer whore. If I'm going to drop a lot of money on a figure, it'll be Sheryl or Ranka.
  18. We're only talking about exterior aesthetics with those images. Please read more carefully before getting set off.
  19. That's not a bad comparison. Material-wise they're not really any different to me. They're still mostly plastic with some diecast content. It's not like Bandai used carbon nanotubes and a titanium swing bar or something. Bandai does wisely use diecast in some spots that might endure higher stresses (like the backpack hinge) to improve durability over the Yamato design. The extra thigh joint is a nice addition to the legs. The shoulder mechanism is a wash for me. It's different, but not really an improvement. And it leaves an unsightly gap in fighter mode. The tampo printing is nice, but like someone said earlier, it needs to be shrunk down 50%. Take that Corvette above and write "CHEVY" across the entire side in huge white letters and that's what Bandai's tampo is like. Bandai even takes some steps back, like with the ridiculously tiny pilot, unpainted landing gear, no console detail (until the 1S), a swing bar that detaches if you look at it wrong, intake covers that often pop loose, and arms that are held in place in fighter mode by a two weeny little tabs and a lot of hope. There isn't anything here Bandai couldn't have done at 1/60 scale. As for the strike parts, they're either the same or even a step backwards from Yamato in all areas except the additional tampo printing.
