  1. I don't think that is derogatory at all. Part of an actors job is to look the part too. If you want to be Thor, you better look like Thor. And frankly, as someone who is DEEP in the fitness community none of these actors have an excuse for not looking the part they were hired for. Million and millions of people maintain themselves incredibly well for free. If you're cashing multi million dollar paychecks there is no excuse for not looking the part. Not when they have professional trainers, dieticians, chefs, doctors and the best drugs. Dropping 20-30lb of fat and putting 10-20lb of muscle in 4-6mo is laughably easy. Especially when it's your only job.
  2. Yeah, you better be a real deal "biker" with dirty leathers.........or a rock star if you're older and want to pull that off. Even the latter is pushing it.
  3. Mine was a standout too. Not surprisingly a lot of what people have picked would occupy second place for me. For the most part I expected it to be pretty narrowly focused on this board. I also thought it would be interesting insight into people's personalities. For example, I fully expected @tekering to pick something I have never heard of. I'm surprised no one has picked Predator yet.
  4. If you had a huge 250 person birthday party and could pick the band, any band, alive or dead, who would it be? Remember, this is a birthday party. My choice is Less Than Jake.
  5. That's the point. Making the hard choice. Everyone has 10+ movies that pop into their heads instantly and they don't want to give any up.
  6. Is that never not true?
  7. 103 views.......12 replies. Man, people are laaaaaazy!
  8. .....What is it? No cheating. A single movie, not a series (LOTR for example). I think I have to go with Aliens.
  9. So far everything that I have needed an explanation for has been there if I look hard enough or ask enough questions. It's all just so complicated and there is almost zero exposition (compared to your standard American movie) that you need to dig hard. I just re-watched the Rebuild movies. Every time I watch them I pick up on more of these tiny little things that Anno put in to explain the story. They're super subtle. But they're there.
  10. Good point. I would like to see them release some never before released Valks. A VF-2 for example. But it doesn't seem like Arcadia is willing to stick their necks out anymore. Have they made anything that Yamato didn't?
  11. That makes sense. I guess that means that his "power" to re-set the timeline and bring on impacts, etc is just a coincidence then. Not that he was "ordained" to play that role. That said, I get his role/ability to bring on impacts (his relationship with his mother/Unit 01). What is still foggy to me is where does his ability to re-set or loop the timeline come in then? Is it all the same thing? And I just thought of something else. At the beginning of 3.33 Unit 01/Shinji are imprisoned in that cross shaped box in orbit. Did NERV/Gendo put him/them there? Why? Doesn't it assume that they stopped the Third Impact to get them in there? Isn't the Third Impact what they wanted? And how did they get an awakened Unit 01 in there in the first place? Ask nicely?
  12. For the life of me I can't think of anything Arcadia could release that I don't already have or don't want. Except a TV SDF-1. Kind of a bummer really.
  13. This is where I get lost a little in the "reality" of Evangelion. Most of Evangelion is explained with technology ( way more advanced than humans). But Shinji's place seems to occupy something more like magic.
  14. I think the biggest thing I don't understand is Shinji some sort of messiah, or is he just a victim of events? In short, why Shinji?
  15. Really? Then where did the Angels and Lilith come from? Is it just left open ended?
  16. That whole show was uncomfortable. I tried watching it about 10yrs ago and didn't make it very far.
  17. Yeah, still good (especially when compared to most of the dreck out there). For some reason I found Ivar The Boneless annoying/acted badly. Or maybe directed badly. I've read the history and where Ragnar was a believable representation of the real man, Ivar didn't match up for me. In the show he was more teenage angst/petulant/driven by his emotions. In real life he was a very smart, very calculating, very terrifying and accomplished individual. You'd have to be to lead a Viking horde and not be able to walk. I'm nit picking of course.
