  1. Actually, it has OmniCorp and Robocop written all over it. Anything else should wait until after viewing.
  2. ... I remember being slightly entertained by the '98 Godzilla, even if I was upset how they changed him for the American audience. I shudder to think of what my reaction would be today...
  3. Saw it. Enjoyed it. I wholly understand where the criticisms are coming from. But it has so much fun playing up every giant robot and giant monster anime/movie trope that I couldn't help but smile even as I shook my head. But I really enjoyed Idris Elba. He's rapidly becoming my go-to actor that I'll go out of my way to watch perform. I also enjoyed the emotion behind some of the words, even if the dialog itself was corney. And
  4. No more combiners! Too much of even a good thing is bad. And this is bad. I still want a new, updated Punch/Counterpunch. Two separate robot modes and (ideally) two separate vehicle modes tyvm.
  5. Yeah, but they're still too big. Optimus Prime fit in Metroplex's palm, about the size of a rice grain to us.
  6. Without getting too spoilery, is Canada mentioned at all as being part of the Pacific Rim? Since... y'know... we are.
  7. Grr. Once again I spew vile hatred upon those stupid stereoscopic tricks that let you normal see this 3D stuff. HATE!!
  8. I've been watching clips from the Citadel DLC on Youtube. If nothing else, the fact that we can do this now utterly validates YouTube's existence I'm not the biggest fan of FemShep. I played as ManShep and honestly prefer Mark Meer's performance over Jennifer Hale's (I know, I know. The bullseye is on my CHEST, not LOWER ). I love Ms. Hale's work to date, but I felt that she was trying too hard for the "tough chick" and went a tad overboard. But I just saw the clip of FemShep doing the tango with Garrus. I'm a huge tango fan myself, so this was utterly awesome. But for the first time, I really enjoyed Ms. Hale's delivery as Garrus pulled her to her feet. "No, no, nonononono!" So much cute and funny in that one line. The dance itself was awesome and all those things that I love from BioWare. Can Ashley get some love now?
  9. So: 1) You make awesome model kits 2) You make awesome robot cockpits 3) You make awesome giant robots come to life. You are my god
  10. So what exactly was your contribution to this film, WM Cheng? Pre-production art? General giant-robot awesomeness?
  11. Sucks for those of us who can't see 3D. Stupid stereoscopic tricks... I wish I could watch it in a non-3D IMAX format. That would be teh awesomested evar.
  12. Well, colour me unimpressed. The gameplay looks too Halo-esque for my liking. If Halo was Star Trek, and the sequels the various ST: Titles, then I was hoping this would be more like B5 than DS9. Bungee went DS9 on this one.
  13. Tell me about it Also, his MSP is $119.99, quite a bit higher than previous non-Optimus releases. I think they've wised up to who's popular and who's not.
  14. The best moment of T4 was when the T800 made its first appearance, complete with 80s Arnie flesh coating. The theatre I was in literally applauded at that
  15. It makes sense, though. Since actors are literally selling their image and Hollywood with is super "up to 11" mentality, plus there's no verisimilitude of competition or "fair playing field", unlike sports...
  16. I'd like to know more about the workouts the two lead actors went through to get into Hero Shape. Kinda reminds me of the transformation Chris Hemsworth went through to become Thor
  17. One thing I like about this film is how accurately they portray the Hero's Journey. I like watching Clark trying to find himself, walking the Earth for safety and yet still compelled to do the right thing because... well... he's Clark Kent. But in order to become Superman, Clark needed to find Kal-El and create a balance between his human and alien sides. Ultimately I found the story of Clark Kent to be far more engrossing than the impressive fight scenes. But that part still rocked. Also? Fiora is
  18. I saw it. I loved the hell out of it. The music, the acting, the feeling it left me with... Dammit, I don't like Superman and this was a fabulous movie. It's also the first movie I've been in where the audience applauded when the closing credits started. It freaking rocks. (then again, I like Robotech and Daredevil so my opinion is obviously skewed a bit... )
  19. Oh, absolutely. Even the creators made note of this, but excused it by saying that the one-eyed Spartan whom was telling the tale didn't "let reality get in the way of a good story". Of course he's going to skew things in Sparta's favour, emphasing the great warriors and vilifying the enemy. I know they didn't have a giant troll-like creature to fight for them, but it does make for a good yarn Which is why I'd like to see the tale told in that style from the Persian's perspective. Could be fun stuff.
  20. Actually, the first film was rather accurate, even if certain... "liberties" were taken with the details. I rather enjoyed the first one for what it was and I'm cautiously optimistic about this film. Of course, I had it my head that a proper sequel to 300 would be to tell the story of the Persians from their perspective. As much as the one-eyed Spartan skewed the story in his campfire tale, I'd like to see this version skewed in the favour of the Persians. So instead of large, open-plain battles against Spartan Supersoldiers, the Persians fought against hordes of their mooks while the Spartans held back in their phalanx formation. Instead of being a deformed mess rejected, the traitor was instead a defector against Spartan decadence, doing the right thing in helping the Persians out...
