  1. Gasaraki had hope, but strangled itself by trying to rip off of Evangelion too much. The mecha designs are fantastic, though.
  2. I thought the trailer said: Murphy: What kind of suit is this?! Lab Guy: Not a suit. It's... you. However, guy-in-a-suit will be a major strike against this film for me.
  3. If I hadn't already decided to watch the movie, that poster just sold me. Yeah, I'm that easy
  4. After giving this some thought, I'm okay with that possible theme to the film. In the 80s, with computers and technology becoming more ubiquitous in all areas of life, there was a wariness of what would happen to us (iirc). Would we still be human with all these gizmos and toys? Now, after decades of computers and with people glued to their smartphone screens, the fear of technology and fear of losing "us" in it is nowhere to be found in the public mind. Instead, today the big concern is how much are our governments lying to us? Do we really control our own lives or is it just the illusion of control? Can we trust what the big corporations are telling us what we're doing? I think the existentialism of the first film will be in this one, just coming from a different angle and updated for a modern audience. Either way, I'm going to watch it before deciding if it's crap or not
  5. You mean like how Slag was treated in Transformers: Animated? They turned the meanest, most bloodthirsty Autobot into a friggin' puppy chasing a stick
  6. All the constant negativity about this franchise, I'm actually looking forward to it. I'm really interested in how the Dinobots will look on the big screen and the new music. The one thing this film series has gotten right is the music.
  7. The part I like most about Hot Rod is that he established the fact that there are multiple Primes, one after another. Instead of Optimus being created to be the great leader, that brought in the idea that a lowly data clerk could become a Prime. Just think about how much of Transformers history has been affected by that idea. As for the actual implementation of that idea... let's just say that I prefer my head canon to anything I ever saw on the screen (which is true for almost every Transformer character ever).
  8. I've not seen this show, but I've been following its development. I'm not a fan of Monty Oum's style of animation. Heck, I even dislike Haloid. (yes, I know. Tar, feather, bullseye, tomato target. I like Robotech, I'm used to that treatment ) The one thing that the trailer got perfect was the soundtrack. Without watching the actual show, and based solely on the trailer released a few months ago, I fully agree with A7's rating on the soundtrack
  9. My latest guilty pleasure has got to be Deadliest Warrior. It's dumb, moronic, over-acted... and yet, I love watching what these weapons can actually do. Movies have long dulled me to the damage potential of being shot with an arrow (just yank it out) or hit with a baseball bat (shrug it off and pop some painkillers). Watching what damage these things can do? Impressive and eye-opening... even if the rest is eye-rolling
  10. Masterpiece Soundwaves are starting to trickle into Canadian TRUs, though only a few boxes at a time. Every store I've been to say they sell out within minutes and the only way to get one is to hang around at the store until the truck shows up
  11. So I found a localish store that had Hasbro's MP-10, complete and unopened in box w/ trailer. Asking price is $250.00 CAD. I somehow pulled away from that. I dunno how, but I did.
  12. I wonder if they're going to redecorate Orgun and give us a Lang version... Man, I'd forgotten how much I loved Orgun. The dialog could use some help, but the idea behind the show itself... I've spent many months dreaming of that world, coming up with different stories and plots and characters.
  13. Yay! Now about that jealousy thing... care to send me your MP Soundwave???
  14. You keep forgetting the "eject" command. It's "<tape name> eject. Operation <name>." I'm so jealous.
  15. Okay, that was cute beyond words. I think my favourite part was the opening screen and the character select Though the midi Iron Man at the end will stick with me for some time. As an aside, the image in the post above of Gwenyth Paltrow...
  16. I just did some ebay hunting for MP-10 and King Grimlock. Gorram scalpers!!
  17. Truth. Though Hot Shots: Part Deux had its moments.
  18. I have one minor nitpick, and that may have more to do with the theatre I was in. The soundtrack is awesomesauce drizzled over awesome and grilled to awesomeness perfection. So why was it so muted compared to the sound effects? Louder music, less clang!
  19. Even if I wanted to buy it from TRU.com (which I did) they don't ship to Soviet Canuckistan. Bastards! And TRU.ca doesn't even have a listing for it. I guess this means Ebay scalpers (yuck!) or trolling my local TRUs hoping for one in-person.
