  1. Superglue is fine. I've never bothered to wash Hasegawa kits - I use Tamiya primer on them though, so perhaps this makes up for my slackness! I think filling gaps is important - otherwise it looks like and toy, and then what's the point? If you use the right technique, sanding may not be necessary. For example - using a two part putty like Milliput or Aves, squashing it into the gap and very carefully smoothing it over with a little bit of water or alcohol can make it smooth enough not to require sanding. Engraving is not necessary at all for a decent model from these kits.
  2. I much preferred Chronicles of Riddick to Pitch Black (although I enjoyed it too). Recently, for curiosity's sake I watched the directors cut / extended version of COR. Don't watch this - this is one of the rare occassions where the general release is better than the extended version. Whilst I am looking forwards to this, I'm a little concerned it looks too similar to Pitch Black. I just wish they brought back Nick Chinlund's 'Toombs' - his relationship with Riddick was fantastic. I'd be happy to watch a movie focused more tightly on Toombs' ever-shifting band of mercs if he was there! I'm wishing that he comes back in a surprise twist during the new movie - but I won't hold my breath.
  3. This would be a grail kit for me. I have two Bandai mostly assembled, which I have put away for now.
  4. That is true. I must admit I've only produced a few things for myself via SLA printing. I create 3D models for work as well, so it does feel like work even if I'm creating a cool mesh of something I plan to output myself. Not modeling... Hopefully I can get that to change, maybe.
  5. I don't like the output from most additive printers. Right now the output is just too rough. However stereolithographic printers which basically shoot a couple of lasers into UV-activated resin are producing some really nice results in comparison. The problem with these at the moment are their relative cost. I'm still looking into getting one myself.
  6. Graham I have to agree with some of your points: there certainly was a distinct lack of Iron Man, as opposed to Tony Stark. Yes, for a few moments in there it felt quite generic action-movie with Tony and whatever sidekick, running around, etc. As for the different armours, we didn't get to see much of them at all in my opinion, sadly...
  7. I loved Starship Troopers. I had also read the Heinlein book many years before the movie was made. They are completely seperate animals. Once you accept this, it gets better.
  8. My apologies, it was Vulcan Raven! It's been awhile since I played these....
  9. I think this is new, but I could be wrong: http://www.civilcooperationbureau.com Be sure to check out the Vehicles and Weapons sections...
  10. Sorry to get off-base here. Back on topic. I'd be interested in hearing some opinions from others who have seen this movie, specifically on their reaction to The Mandarin.
  11. It is gorgeous. Roman, in some of your screencaps, the pics look straight out of the kinds of books I have in my studio - ones with O'Neil cylinders and other 'visions' of the future. This is probably my most anticipated movie this year.
  12. I just knew that had to be from Metal Gear Solid. Does anyone remember the freaky little action figure of 'Big Boss' during MGS2?
  13. Finally, the trailer has been released in gorgeous hi-res - 4K if you can believe it - and I saw a bit of detail that wasn't clear before:
  14. Yes, I do think the last half hour fell down a bit. Never the less, I do look forwards to 'what's next' for Kosinski. I think this movie has done well for the producers so I think Kosinksi has a green light for his next project...
  15. That's an interesting definition. So The Matrix and its sequels for Americans, would be a 'foreign film'? Or two of the Star Wars prequels? The latest Wolverine movie? Would you classify The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit as foreign films? Personally, I think calling something a 'foreign film' is becoming increasingly irrelevant. It's increasingly a global market, especially when film makers are looking to the 'foreign markets' for their profit...
  16. EXO, if you click through to the deviantart page you will see a few more views and different colours. Looks fantastique!
  17. Oh I should mention - 'foreign markets' actually means the USA, to anyone outside of the USA, like me and many others in this forum!
  18. Well to tide you over in the meantime, you could watch Interstella 5555 by Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto. I watched it with my kids a few nights ago and it's surprisingly good in a fantasy / surreal way. I remember watching it a few years ago, but I must have fell asleep because I realised I had not seen most of it.
  19. NO SPOILERS. I saw this last night. It was fantastic. There were some very nice plot twists, including one that you will not see coming. Much, much better than number two (which I quite enjoyed), with quite a different style to the two previous ones. A stylistic change is that Tony Stark often speaks directly to the audience in voiceover, and whilst I'm usually not a fan of this sort of thing, here it works surprisingly well. Another item that could have descended very quickly into sentimental and maudlin territory is Tony's relationship with a young boy. Instead it's kept whip-crack smart and sharp by some well-written dialogue. The only thing I was not enamoured of was the tech from Tony's opposition. It simply defied the laws of physics and if this kind of tech was available and unleashed, it would be very difficult to put the genie back into the bottle - it would change 'everything'.
  20. I really enjoyed the first one but felt it really fell over when he was stuck in Blandville, USA. Hopefully we spend as little time on Earth as possible...
  21. Do not want. Seriously, there are an enormous amount of issue with this - but I guess I should have know this was going to happen. I'm sure I'll still grab one, just not sure if I will ever build it up...
