  1. Interesting project - I look forward to more!
  2. Finally, a decent looking cockpit. The Bandai one was simply much closer to 1/100 than 1/72! I can't wait to get my hands on one of these...
  3. Awesome work. I really must watch this Macross Zero again soon.
  4. This is exactly what I do. Then Tamiya fine primer. I have found it's the best for me. However I do not use Model Master, I exclusively use Tamiya acrylics. I've never had a pull-up issue.
  5. I know you couldn't resist that last shot. 1/72 just doesn't get enough love for military vehicles. Very nice!
  6. I do love MOSPEADA, but haven't really kept up with any news. To the true fans: are there any rumours of a reboot/remake on the horizon(t)?
  7. I think I read all these. I think he wrote too much, to be honest. A few of these were awesome, but many were repetitious and clunky. Still, he was a true giant in the field, and leaves a great legacy.
  8. Batman without Batman? Doesn't sounds too enticing to be honest.
  9. It looks entertaining. That's all I'm expecting, and it will be refreshing to see Aaron Paul in a role where he's an proactive, empowered individual, rather than the crying ineffectual mess that is Jesse Pinkman.
  10. Very nice paintjob there. Is that all Tamiya Acrylics? What did you think of the model itself? Easy assembly? I have a couple of these in boxes, awaiting my attention...
  11. I've had Tamiya masking tape on for a month and there wasn't an issue for me.
  12. Visually it looks great, and I quite like the updated designs - more particularly the silver suit than the black. What I'm a little worried about is the 'what did you do to me' thing we have happening with Murphy. In the original there was a quiet dignity to Murphy as his humanity emerged - slowly - from his transformation. It was like he was waking up from being asleep and was thrilling to see. Hopefully, Kinamman's Murphy undergoes a similar metamorphosis, but I guess this is a new movie with a new story to tell. I'm prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt and will certainly be seeing it. For Verhoeven fans - I will be at a quiet social event with an main actor from one of Verhoeven's earlier movies in a few days. Hopefully I can pump him for crazy Verhoeven stories!
  13. Very nice Sean, I can't wait to see this old girl finished!
  14. Well, as usual, you made it shine. What's the physical size of this thing? I've always wanted a kit of the Tumbler, but last time I looked I thought it was a bit small.
  15. Yes, the ocassional shaky cam was annoying. I cannot wait until this trend is over.
  16. Come one guys, let's see what happens. You never know. Affleck has certainly matured nicely as a performer. I do remember when a lot of people were unhappy with the casting of Bale. And remember the outcry when the smirking Chris Evans was cast as Captain America? And he totally owned the role - my favourite Marvel casting actually. Acting - it's amazing what a good actor can do!
  17. Closer to a regular combat unit. My first comissions in over 10 years. I'm running out of room to display, so I thought I'd scratch the building itch by doing some commissions! I've got permission to post pics of these once finished, so my next pics on these will be the finished verisons in a couple of weeks...
  18. Statue? Meh. I hope Kotobukiya makes 1/144 or even 1/100 scale models of these. 1/72 is probably going to be a little big maybe. WM Cheng might drop by to give us a better appreciation of this, I'm sure he would of handled in-scale maquettes during concept design.
  19. Fantastic write-up MechTech! I have a SEIG Lathe. Whilst I enjoy using it, I honestly couldn't recommend it - there's a little too much play for my liking. I will probably purchase a Sherline sooner or later, as well as a Milling machine. My recommendation for anyone ready to dip their toe in the water, do NOT skimp on good tools if you're ready to invest at this level. Get the best. I should have spent a spent some more and bought a Sherline, which is what I now intend to do. Also, look after your equipment. Maintenance and cleaning is important if you want it to last a long time. One of the best 'accessories' I purchased was a small but powerful industrial vacuum cleaner which I have permanently attached to wall in the work area. Cleaning up is quick and painless. Any type of initial machining process on metal usually creates a horrible mess. While I'm on the subject, make sure all your machinery has good coverings - not only does this keep away dust but things like lathes need a clear travelling bed and any tiny shavings getting in there can create lots of issues.
  20. Wow, phenomenal work. I was wondering why you'd go to the trouble of making a video until I watched it. Amazing! Not 100% on the yellow wingtips, but love the rest of the colour scheme. Very nice! I really must finish my own VF-1 one day, it's builds like this that inspire me...
  21. Saw it last night. It was beautifully made, but I really wanted a bit more - I would have liked to see how society functioned on Elysium, and maybe see the AMP suits used to a bit better effect. Kruger was awesome though! The real hero of the movie, however is Spider, and if you watch it, thinking about this, you realise that Max is really just a smaller player, who managed to make his life being to mean something. I really enjoyed bureacracy gone mad - Max's parole officer was horrifically exactly what you'd expect. Some wonderful vehicle design as well - loved the Bugatti shuttle.
  22. Whilst I am familiar with the source material, I'm not as unhappy as some with the fantasy elements. Go with me. What if I told you, during World War Two, that the God of the Nordic cycle were behind one of Hitler's henchmen - responsible for millions of deaths of jews, gypsies and homosexuals. Then the US created an 'ubermensch' of their own to combat this Nazi evil by injecting super-steroids and exposure to radiation. Then, instead of shutting down horrific places like Auschwitz and Daschau - the said 'ubermensch' pursues a personal vendetta against a psychotic but ineffectual victim of medicine and this is glorified as the main plot of the movie. Are you there yet? Captain America (2011). So this fantasy retelling of the 47 Ronin story to me isn't too far from some other historical treatments of Hollywood. I'm not making judgements - I loved Captain America - I"m just saying sometimes you have to let realism go and enjoy the ride you're being taken on.
