What's up with Macross VF-X2 being canon ?
VFTF1 replied to Macross007's topic in Movies and TV Series
Easy: Following the events of Macross Frontier episode 26, Ranka and Sheryl settle down together, both of them unable to come to grips with the fact that Alto prefers to fly rather than marry either one of them - so they just decide to marry eachother and end up exploring their fold waves together. This research leads them to experiment with using the power of song to create personal fold systems like the ones the Vajra were able to use. Sheryl and Ranka have Brera Stern use the technology from Galaxy to bio-mechanically enhance them to be like the Vajra and be able to fold on their own, just by singing about love. One night, they argue with Alto because they just can't stand his indecision. But Alto remains dense and doesn't understand what women want, so Sheryl and Ranka are inspired to sing a song of lost love; a song of despair. This song generates a fold wave which sucks them into itself and brings them to the alternate Macross universe where everything is a computer game instead of an anime. There, they find themselves pulled into the fighting and Sheryl uses her basic pilot skills to pilot a VF-X2 while Ranka sings in hopes of stopping the violence. Meanwhile, back in the Macross Frontier world, Alto realizes his mistake and sing love songs while dressed as a woman in the hopes of bringing the girls back. He does manage to open a fold wave thanks to Sheryl's ear-ring which he kept, and the fold wave sucks Sheryl, Ranka and the VF-2 out of the video game universe BUT they have trouble getting back to the Macross Frontier universe post-episode 26 due to mixed feelings that the girls have which generate an inverse vector thrust in the fold wave diameter contortion. These contortions rip the fabric of the fold wave apart and Alto just manages to pull the girls out while the VF-X2 and its' NUNS markings are sucked even further back in time - where? - why to just prior to Macross Frontier. They are found by some scouts from the UN Spacey and once the mecha is tested and its' data recorder analyzed, the UN Spacey comes to the conclusion that it must pre-empt the awaiting battle of different time lines by reforming itself in to the new UN Spacey, or NUNS. They also plan on using the VF-X2 as a prototype for their newest fighters but then a tragic accident occurs and the VF-X2 is blown up by terrorists from the Anti-UN who try to steal it and the project is scraped, but the NUNS remains. And that's the logical explanation. Pete -
Yeah, I mean it's not like Hasbro ever did anything like that before. I mean, Beast Wars/Beast Machines and the entire G1-Beast Machines continuity that ran for 15 years weren't chucked out the window for no reason. They were chucked out the window for the super production Transformers: Armada - which, as we all know, made Transformers world famous... Pete
-
I have to disagree with you this time - Armada was a major step DOWN engineering wise when you compare them to Beast Wars and even Beast Machines... heck - EVEN to G2, where you had things like Jolt and Electro with better poseability than the majority of Armada toys. Engineering has really varried from series to series IMO. Cyclonus looks good... I love Highbrow as a character, but can't really spot him at first glance...and am too lazy to take a second glance Pete

Quato was right. I would imagine that with enough logs, anything is possible. I mean, in Macross, Hikaru managed to go fishing in space using a scarf to insulate his suite from the vaccume... I was always perplexed by that scene, because the idea that you could just hold your breath and go out into space ....doesn't seem to fit. Isn't it like...freezing out there? And wouldn't a human body - even if "holding its' breath" and "heated" still not survive due to reasons having to do with pressure and other environmental conditions... ? In any event - I'm sure there's some logical explanation for why Hikaru wasn't pulverized. Pete

Teacher Yoko has been around for a while. It's a nice sculpt, of course, but I personally never liked the get up. And no - not because it's so conservative - mainly because it's rather unimaginative and a tad TOO cartoony... The Bounty Hunter Yoko rules As for ripped nylons Yoko - well - honestly I never liked ripped stockings ("lip my stocking! lick my stocking!" - Lost in Translation, with Bill Murray comes to mind here )... And...yeah...Yoko suddenly looks like she has thunder thighs with those ripped stockings. So - out of the three, I'm sticking to Bounty Hunter... not to mention the 1/5 Yoko from GIFT which is utterly gorgeous. Pete

Puts on big rimmed glasses and starts speaking through his nostrils in an annoying squeeky voice: They should do an anime together, where Ranka and Sheryl go looking for the Megaroad 1 and finally meet Minmey who remains hot because she's been genetically altered to be an eternal hot universal idol and then they all sing together and then Minmey is whisked away into the stars by that proto-devilin bubble that Sivil took Bassara on a ride of the universe in and then... A wonderful picture. Sheryl actually looks human and tamed -even though its' Alto on his knees - she looks like she finally isn't the blow hart bitch of the universe but a regular cute girl making dinner Pete

Actually, it's worse than a shadow: it's a key chain. Pete Office of Bitching and Moaning about ROTF Toys

The DX Alto looks GREAT...next to that 1996(?) version of the VF1A ? For some odd reason, I can't stand older Macross toys. I got rid of my Macross Plus 1/72s and still have only my 1/60 v.1 VE-1...which will no doubt soon also go because the more v.2s I get the uglier it looks even in fighter mode... I don't understand why I like my G1 Transformers better than modern poseable incarnations, while I can only stand the newest of the Macross stuff... oh well. Pete

Will any (hopefully) upcoming news about the (hopefully) retooled or re-cast VF-25s from the upcoming Frontier Movie appear in this thread? Pete -
Hm. This shows sounds remotely interesting. Guess I need to get around to watching it eventually... Pete

That's cause it is the alien baby thing from Alien I think... The VF-25S looks FANTASTIC!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGG!!! CAN'T STAND THE WAIT FOR MINE!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO BUILD HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to get him a stand too... Pete -
Come on guys! Get with the program - they're new age Transformers! This time, rather than transforming from - oh - I dunno - say - Construction vehicles to robots to a gestalt - they now transform from bronze and steel to tan and green! Now you know why Hasbro had to hike prices.... On a serious note - about that price hike: You know - I understand price hikes due to what's going on in the economy - but I think Transformers seems to be the only line where we see BOTH price hikes AND lower quality in terms of materials used and the design/engineering angle. It's like they just don't care anymore. Either that or their marketing wizards have concluded that a more Bionicle looking line of robots will be the most popular right now. If that's the case then I guess we can't blame them. It's what people in general want... Pete

Superb. I don't really understand anything about the description though; except the part about it being based on episode 26, deep penetration and her gap. But really - what more is there to want to know? Pete
-
Yeah - I have Groxier X manga version and like him alot. About the Fewture Getters - do they transform? Given their price - they better either transform or come with a blow up Lyn Minmey sex doll or something... Pete
-
I get the impression that the cost of money is rising fast than the prices of goods and services in monetary terms is falling. So the answer is: Price of goods - down. Price of money to buy goods - up End result: We're all gonna die. Pete

Hey, thanks for the great pics QuinJester You just created a new Gohkin Go Shogun fan (me) I LOVE those guys! But I especially love the little duck He is AWESOME! Dag... I never knew how much of an old school mecha lover I was... but seriously - these are great:) Pete

You just need to hide behind Agent One because as usual, it's your fault Exo Pete

20500 Yen for the Ranka Decals isn't that bad. The exchange rate just makes it suck more than it otherwise would. I'd buy it, except for the fact that "it" really isn't much of anything beyond Kakizaki/Luca colors and two generic Ranka pictures/features that aren't very special... The VF-25 with Sheryl Decals looks really good. Fantastic. Beautiful. The Ranka one is ok. Pete
-
Yeah - actually until the very end I was thinking: "That Simpsons episode about Japan was true!" Because - here we have a "comedy" "light" "humorous" "throw away" episode of Macross Frontier and...one main character gets killed...then another main character gets killed... and I'm like...am I supposed to be laughing now? Ozma's...dead! Luca's...dead! Ha ha! They died!! A bunch of deaf Zendradi killed them! ha ha ha! ?? It was morbid But - thankfully the ending does clear things up
-
So you didn't turn the music off when the Manga told you to? Pete
-
Yeah, what Graham said about the fastpack. Howver- I did not know about those extendable knees on the 19... I can't believe there's still features I have no clue about even though I've had the thing for three years now... Pete

Now THAT is what I would qualify as a wierd fetish But seriously - I can go and take one for you - unless somebody beats me to it. Would you prefer Nora or Ivanov's hips? Pete -
VF5SS: Well - thank you for stepping forward and clearing it up. At least that puts a stop to the mystery/suspence angle. All true - but: I think it must be a bit hurtful to Gubaba who has taken time and has used his knowledge of Japanese and English to do something for all of us, for free and wanted it to be limited to the internet based community that he takes part in - to be a kind of "special treat" of Macross World if you will. It's just a matter of common courtesy when someone does something nice for people, he would like them to be polite and respectful of his wishes - and it's an understandable wish. In any event - I hope Gubaba doesn't feel too bad, and I hope people don't hold a grudge against VF5SS - he came forward, came clean and apologized. Gubaba: you are just going to have to accept that bad things like this will happen from time to time and be content that all of us really do appreciate your work. People have suggested various remedies, as did I privately. I'm sure there's some thing we can all come up with to honor Gubaba's desire to keep these a Macrossworld exclussive - a kind of emblem of our community, and very particularly of one of its' most active and precious members. Pete

Yeah, but the point is that aparently a member of MW did it - considering there are about 8 thousand members - it's not a stretch to imagine that one of them signed up specifically to take it. I didn't even get to see the comic Maybe Macross World needs to have restricted access, and a pledge week? Like when I was in college, the frat houses would make you drink pee and beat you in the a55 with a broom before letting you join. Could do something similar here. Pete
