Yeah - it looks great... But Yamato's v.2 1/60 is just as poseable AND it is variable...so why get this? I have the Revoltech 1J and 1S and they are cute and in scale with Revoltech Regults. As with the other GNU Macross products - I will pass. The only Yamato GNU that I'm interested in are the BIG ones like Groxier X, Danguard Ace and...well...yes...AND???... make more Yamato! Pete

I'm wondering how to respond to this and instead of writing a long winding treatise, I think I'll just leave it at this: Representing COBRA as being like AL Quada would be insulting to COBRA and to the GI Joe franchise. Cobra has some redeeming qualities to it, and some redeeming characters. Even amongst the Nazis, you had people like Erwin Rommel who conducted themselves with honor. Al Quada has absolutely no redeeming qualities and absolutely no redeeming characters. If anything - Cobra and GI Joe would team up against them, just like in the real world, many countries and organizations which aren't exactly the moral equivalent of the Vatican team up against Al Quada and its' variants. that's how I see it at least. Macross Frontier and prior Macross mysteries
VFTF1 replied to Syngyne's topic in Movies and TV Series
Actually - considering the policy with regard to the dead on Macross Frontier - they would probably try to convince the Vajra to allow for harvesting fold quartz. After all, on the Frontier, the human dead are all recycled into the eco-system. Pete -
Yeah well - this is the kind of stuff people have been dreaming of every time a new franchise ends... But seriously- I honestly get the feeling that at some point, rebooting the franchise is going to kill the Transformers off. I mean - how many times can you reboot it? I think that given the magnitude and scope of the Movie - they'll make an animated Movie cartoon - based off of the two first movies, taking place on Earth and possibly beyond. The alternative? Beats me... but then again - I guess they'll really do whatever's popular amongst kids these days... Pete

I think this is one of those times when I have to underscore just how much I like variable/transformable mecha. I honestly can't just "pick" a mode alone - and in fact, I don't think any of the designs would be very fun if they were just stand alone modes. What really makes the whole thing cool is the fact that the design encompasses the three modes... Pete

Agent One wrote: Actually - this is a very good point. And it's also a frickin' shame. There's a thousand and one "action/army/militaristic/adventure" movies out there. Some of them suck. Some of them are entertaining. Some of them are sweet. GI JOE should at least aspire to be as good as..oh...I dunno...Commando! I mean - Predator's team was actually pretty kick ass... But then again - all of them got killed off and Arnie barely survived. I think that goes against GI Joe's MO of "shoot pink bursts of light at point blank range, never run out of ammo, but be reduced to beating your enemies with your fists until they are forced to jump out of their tanks and run away on foot - but don't go after them with your fleet of aircraft, tanks and other war machines so they can come back to menace you later." Seriously - this show BETTER be CAMP. If there's not a lot of gay scenes in this movie, it'll suck. Pete

Well what are they going to bring us now? Are they going to stick with the aesthetic of Animated, give us some more traditionally chunky TFs? What? What do you guys think? Pete

Macross Frontier and prior Macross mysteries
VFTF1 replied to Syngyne's topic in Movies and TV Series
I highly doubt the Vajra are "everywhere" - I think that in Macross, the galaxy is kind of like Australia. Sure - everyone is there - but it takes a hell of a long time to go visit someone. The notion that just because the Vajra are around therefore they know what happened to Megaroad 01 is kind of cheesy and I'm glad Macross doesn't come up with that as a plot point... Pete -
Firing the gunpod in fighter mode-- dangerous?
VFTF1 replied to Syngyne's topic in Movies and TV Series
If I ever want to know how to kill myself while flying a jetfighter- I promise to re-read all of the posts I just read in this thread with more care and understanding than my meager brain can muster at this moment... Pete (goes back to taking pictures of scantly clad women, since he obviously can't understand anything beyond that...) -
Welcome to Macrossworld Volkray! All those v.1 1/60s on the launch arms look great! Can you give us a peak at your other chogokin...I think they seem to be staring out of the side drawer? Pete

Typical celebrity hypocrite! But seriously - Turkish coffee is SO MUCH BETTER than Irish coffee. In fact, I haven't the faintest clue what Irish coffee is supposed to entail really. Turkish coffee, on the other hand, is the best. Second best is Greek. What does Irish consist of? Cream? Mints? Pete

Why to shield himself from the huge tears of a broken Meldran love heart, of course What other POSSIBLE reason could there be? Pete (who is still wondering why his picture of Valkyrie nose-radar maintanance caused such a stir)

All of mine are still in perfect working order except the one Roy who's minor hairline fracture was epoxied. Have I mentioned that I never move the arms on any of them unless I'm also holding the "box" shoulder hing firmly? This might help for those of you who are moving the arm on the joint without securing the box hinge - thereby taking that pressure off of it. In general, this is the best transforming jet fighter figure made in a decade IMO Really really really great stuff. Pete

Very nice Polidread Can't really tell who they are (probably because I haven't seen Macross II) - but as usual top marks for the art Pete

The only Max and Miria I will be getting will be the RED/BLUE 1Js ... I don't like any of Max's other incarnations that much... if I get him then he'll be last on my list - just before tis CF 1J Pete

Hey hey...Sara Nome does not need a better costume. I liked her nude just fine As for me - I voted for Ranka, but I was still in my 20s when I did that - now I feel older, what with the big 30 just days away, and as I age, I find myself strangely moving into the Minmey camp... Pete

Actually, I think it would benefit humanity it HG took all of its' resources and pumped them into my cockamammy scheme Pete

Alaska Base colors would be great. I never understood the idea of a 1J CF - isn't the 1J like an officer's valkyrie or something - ergo suggesting CFism is not really an option? I dunno... I don't like the 1J head with CF colors. Prefer traditional CF 1A. But - I am happy because as others have mentioned, this means Yamato might be doing "out there" obscure colors - which means everyone will get their pet dream done - hopefully. Pete

For me, the choice is obvious. I'd pilot - as in command - the SDF-1 Macross. I'd have bridge bunnies, sexy older officers and a singing idol ALL UNDER MY COMMAND VFTF1

Macross variable fighter/mecha pose thread
VFTF1 replied to Wicked Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah - this is much better. It is funny how the VF-1 has MORE expression on its' cold, blank metalic face than poor Rei, who looks like Roy just scopped her up from a JC Penny store front manequinne display... Also- the lighting makes the scene look very romantic - or at least makes Roy look like he's trying to be very romantic - dramatic even. But Rei is just like..."Whatever" Pete -
I will probably get this. I sure hope the uniform is removable, because frankly, I'm very unenthusiastic about that uniform - of all the clothes Sheryl wore in the series, including on-stage stuff, this was the dullest ... So - two cheers for 1/8 Sheryl I guess... Pete
-
Didn't she sing about Turkish coffee? Pete
-
The key to get me to buy these in 1/60 scale would be poseable pilots. Otherwise - what's the point? Revoltechs are fine. Pete
