then hopping in there jet that turns into a robot to go bitch slap a 40 foot giant? I just realized how important a role slapping people in the face plays in macross. -

There was a second run because Yamato still had the old molds from 2004 sitting around and it cost them relatively little to churn out a second run of toys to capitalize on the success of the (then) new 1/60 v.2 line. as I recall the original run of the Q-rau sold poorly back in '04, and I don't know for a fact but I get the impression that the reissue hasn't been selling all that fast either. And at no point has anyone said there were ANY license issues related to yamato releasing a TV Q-Rau. The reason they haven't released a TV scheme is because to do a PROPER TV scheme they would have to do more work than just mold it in new colors and slap on some markings; a PROPER TV version would need a new face, new, new antenna, new legs, new feet etc. etc. to make it an accurate representation. They COULD crank out more of the same 5 year old toys with new colors, that may have even worked back in 2004, But here in 2009, almost nobody's going to buy a cheap repaint of an outdated toy that doesn't even have the correct sculpt. And it wouldn't be worth it to just change the details on some parts either as most people would still be disappointed that all they did some was make some cosmetic changes and not bother to fix the toy's underlying flaws. And once again people would pass on it. Yamato realizes that the fan base as a whole aren't desperate enough to accept a half-assed attempt at a TV Q-Rau. They wouldn't be able to sell enough to Warrant make them at all using any part of the existing toy. At this point about the only thing that has the potential to sell well (i.e. getting people who already own the existing Q-Rau to buy another one) would be something completely new, and Yamato first would have to decide if an all new build would sell well enough to justify the R&D costs. then they'd need to go through the lengthy process of developing the toy.

There are actual sculpt differences between the TV and DYRL versions. But more importantly, the existing Q-Rau kind of sucks. I believe it was designed before yamato went to CAD, and design wise it looks really primitive to yamato's newer offerings. The whole design just doesn't look as good as new stuff, and it doesn't have any really fine detail. Also the articulation is crap compared to most new stuff. It was cool when it first came out (right in the middle of the v.1 1/60's run) but now it just looks cheap compared to the equally priced destroids. Personally I don't care if they do TV or movie sculpt, I'd buy both. But now that Yamato's shown how awesome they can make a non transforming macross mech (destroids) and since they've done updated versions of every other mech they've done (except the VA-6) it only seems right that they do. as for the Regult, I might get one, but they'd need to be really detailed and be relatively inexpensive; as in fully detailed cockpit with nicely sculpted articulated pilot for about around 9,800 yen (they should also throw in little 1/60 scale Kakizaki, Hikaru and Misa (either holding a giant radio mic or kissing Hikaru) figures.

THE UN-OFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME THREAD
anime52k8 replied to the white drew carey's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
yeah, if you want an in universe explanation... the NUNS insignia seen in frontier is the insignia of the Macross 25 fleet defense arm and is unique to the frontier fleet, just like how all of the Galaxy's planes have that cool G marking. the rest of the NUNS forces continue to use the older insignia. yeah, that's it. really it's because the New NUNS logo is lame and the flying kite is the only marking cool enough to for it -
I doubt it, now if they were Tyrannosaurs in F-14's I'd be more inclined to believe you.

the US appeals court and the British parliament beg to differ. "20 Years for Loli Manga: “Victims Don’t Have to Exist” UK Bans Loli: "all Children are victims" (It's Sankaku so super NSFW.) conincidentally the US and the UK have the 9th and 13th highest per capita rape rates in the world respectively (Austraila and Canada rank 3rd and 5th) anyways... so who's looking forward to that sheryl figure? (I finally had the spare cash to pre-order from overdrive today.)

The fighter mode itself looks like parts are just tacked on. The thruster/tail fin structures look like they're just resting on the back of the plane and not really connected to anything and the legs are just kind of tacked on under the wings as if they were afterthoughts. As for the SAP armor, the backpack itself looks like it's own chunky, self-contained fighter that's styled radically differently form the the VF-2SS. When you put the two together, it looks like one plane is giving another plane from a different designer a piggy back ride. The armored VF-25 is chunky and almost comically over-armed (no kill like over-kill), but it feels like one solid fighter where every part is where it's supposed to be and not just stuck on with blu-tack. also, the armored VF-25 looks more balanced in battroid mode compared to the VF-2SS SAP. The 25's armor adds a lot of bulk, but it's fairly well distributed. The SAP system adds almost all of its bulk to the back of the mech, with a good chunk of that being above the level of the mechs shoulders (or balanced over the mechs head by a single arm) it looks incredibly top heavy, especially with it's already tiny feet.
-
I honestly don't see the point in this. The new pins they're using seem to fix the problem fine (I've been very rough with my 1S and the shoulder is still pristine) and if you've got an older toy I'd think most of the DIY fix's already posted do the job just fine. Really, I think this would only be worth it if they cost less than ordering a replacement arm from OD. I just don't think these are necessary, but that's just me.

well Raptor Jesus hates you so it all works out doesn't it. (Raptor Jesus liked Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. I know, I asked him )

Ace Combat 7 - Coming to the Skies
anime52k8 replied to Spider-X's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm thinking this is fake. Besides the fact that nobody is talking about this anywhere else, you can find every aircraft picture they used on Google in about 5 minutes. I know Ace Combat is a niche market game and all but you'd think there would be a little bit more coverage than one magazine article of which we only have one low quality photo of. And if this was official, you'd think they'd have something better to show than a bunch of random pictures they lifted off Google; I don't know about Asian magazines, but if a game gets anything more than a small blurb in a US magazine it has screen shots and/or concept art form the actual game. -
oh my god, this is everyone and everything that isn't a giant robot that makes me happy in one movie! going to see this opening day for sure.
-
Seriously, can we stop stop spamming the board with random 'look at my new toy' threads. If you're going to do a lengthy picture gallery or review that's one thing, but if all you've got to say is "look what I got! squee!!" just post it in the relevant product thread, or in the picture gallery thread. Also, please no more "which one should I buy" threads.
