I take exception to this. I'm in school and I don't complain about how expensive these toys are. I suck it up and make horrible financial decisions in order to get the toys that I want.

I find it amusing how people didn't even like the VF-19's Gerwalk mode (as in the actual line art design, not just the toy) until someone pointed out that the toy version had limited articulation in that mode.

See, now the way you put it does kind of come off as Elitism and snobbery. You make it sound like there's a clear inferiority to collecting inexpensive domestic retail toys vs high ticket imports and that it's an either/or proposition as to which you can own. That's not to say Jwinges is right because he's not and his logic is totally off base and nonsensical. BTW, I'd love to see some evidence of this supposed massive demographic of children clamoring for playable macross toys.

Kind of a long established fact that the markings and paint scheme of Scull Squadron are directly based on VF-84 Jolly Rogers VF-84 was disestablished in 1995, but the name and insignia are currently being used by VFA-103 (seen in the video), BTW. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VF-84 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VFA-103

I'm in the poor college student boat as well, and I have a whole bunch of other things I like to throw my nonexistent money at. (Naked lady statues don't come cheap ) Needless to say I don't buy Macross toys very often, and They're typically the biggest ticket items I can get in a year.

the whole "Jesus is an Engineer" thing comes strait from Ridley Scott's own mouth: http://www.movies.com/movie-news/ridley-scott-prometheus-interview/8232 (read the last question/answer in the interview) Anyways, I was fairly disappointed when I first saw the film, but on subsequent viewing on blu-ray at home I started to like the movie a lot more as I began to catch subtle things and really piece together what they were going for in the movie. Also, Having seen the deleted scenes and listened to the directors cometary, I really wish they had kept 90% of the content they cut out. there's a lot of stuff that I think added depth and clarity to the film that it really needed. Overall, I think Prometheus is a deeply flawed but fundamentally good film. It's got a lot of really interesting ideas but it's hampered by less than stellar execution. Most of the hate is really unwarranted though, and it seems to me more like a bunch of people eager to jump on the cool guy "I think this movie is crap" bandwagon without actually giving it a fair shake. -

I believe yes to both. Standard Nendoroids are about 4 inches tall hand have swappable faces and limbs for different poses and to use accessories. They also have a Nendoroid Petite line that's about 2.5 inches tall, are fixed pose statues that have similar proportions as the larger Nendoroids. And to my knowledge this is the first time max factory has produced any Macross related products.

now that you mention it yes. Comparing them to the old street fighter figs, they look a little more toy like and don't hide the joint as well when the leg is completely strait, but it seems like by doing it this way they're getting rid of the ridiculous telescoping knee joint which is a welcome change. One thing that does worry me is that it looks like they're still using the same ankle joint design. That odd revoltech style joint isn't very precise and has been my main complaint with the play arts kai figures I've messed with up til now.

I'm not gonna lie, the Batgirl, batman and flash look interesting just because they're so crazy and 90's anime. green lantern looks kind of ugly though

I'm not saying they're a terrible manufacturer, but they're not really a top tier figure company either. They're not on the same level as Alter or Goodsmile and even they don't often get into those territories of expensive. 20,000~30,000 JPY is in the catagory Coldcast/polystone statues and extremely niche porno figures like what Native makes. This here is a pretty good analog to that Sheryl statue in terms of size, detail and complexity; and it's also from Max Factory: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10203557 It's 14,000 yen before typical store discounts. also, the fact that it's a popular character typically means it'll be more affordable since it's less obscure and therefore more likely to sell more units.
