I ordered mine the first day they had them listed on their site so yeah, got the better price. it boggles my mind how they can go around jacking prices up so ludicrously on stuff that can be had cheaper other places at that moment. like, who would pay 21,000 yen for a basic -25F when there's like 6 of them in like new condition on the old mandarakes for 16,000. as much as I don't really want to right now, I really think I should put in a pre-order for the RVF-171EX while it's still at a reasonable price. :edit: Aso, over 9000 posts...

Clear coating is optional with Alclad. You can safely mask, decal and weather over it without destroying the finish, and some people prefer the uncoated finish because it looks even more like real metal. I clear coat is good if your going to handle it though. I've never used Vallejo paints, I think they're primarily meant for warhammer style miniatures. if that's the case they'd need to be good for brush painting and pretty durable.

The problem isn't drooping or anything. it's literally that it's too ass heavy and constantly butt plants.

and this is why regular alclad is so good IMO, they have the smallest particle size of any paint I've seen, to the point where you can't discern any individual flakes at all when you apply it. That and they're lacquer, so they actually stand up to handling/masking over (testors metalizers are the worst product in the world for this reason). And yes, turn X would be a good one.

It looks ok without the missile pod, but it also looses all it's character. The giant bar-o-missile over the head is it's unique trait, without it, the YF-30 just looks like a VF-25 without the sexy proportions.

question: is it even possible to get this thing to stand on it's own two feet in gerwalk mode? I tried with it fully loaded and it's so damn back heavy I just can't get it to balance with any reasonable leg positioning. Admittedly, with the gerwalk brace in place it's the most rock solid Macross toy I've ever handled, but It can't stand up at all.Outside of battroid mode, I think this one will need to be on a stand all the time.

They make High-shine paints that practically look like vac chrome if done right, but their regular finish products tend to either have a soft, medium luster or even come out slightly flat for some of the colors. anyways, i think I've got a pretty cool idea for how to paint up Nu gundam if I pick one up and get time to do it.

I just did this to mine, and it worked great. mine didn't sag, but the top side tab would pop out of place with the slightest touch, which made it really insecure. now the wings fit super snug and the whole thing now holds together well enough to zoom it around the room while making whooshing noises.

everything get's taken out of it's box and played with, as it should. The more important question is what to do with the box once you've taken the toy out?
