mine doesn't have these problems at all and it can stand up just fine in Gerwalk.

well, I like mine. I'm looking forward to repaints, I don't buy multiples of the same toy, but I would really like a second copy of this figure.

This. I remember having all the individual issues of From the Stars and that was the cover art from one of them. the books had Tommy's name on it, hence my confusion.- 58 replies

I can even get it solid enough to lift the weight of the toy by the shoulders/upper torso alone by positioning the missile launcher arm and wing backpack just right. the main thing is the tabs that plug into the pelvis are easy to dislodge, they hold secure while it's standing and when you pick the toy up, but when you try moving the legs the whole lower body can become unplugged easily.

Just checked again with a DYRL pilot, it's closer to 2.5cm total, so 150cm in real life or just under 5 feet. btw, just looking at my arcadia YF-19 Isamu vs My bandai YF-29 pilot, they have the same length legs and same size head, with isamu having a slightly taller torso. Isamu also has much larger feet so he doesn't fit in the bandai cockpit, if your wondering.

The brace isn't that necessary in battroid mode. the whole thing is more structurally sound than quite a few figures that didn't have any kind of optional brackets to hold them together (SV-51, YF-21, 1/60 YF-19 V1's, VF-171...)
-
if you try to measure out the size of the pilot figures from yamato's VF-1s, they work out to being only about 4 feet tall at 1/60 scale.

I've been debating whether or not I should try taking a pin vice and drilling out the holes in the YF-30/VF-171's wings so they'll accept Arcadia weapons. I'm also debating buying one of the VF-171CF armor sets even though I don't actually own a VF-171CF so I can have some extra weapons. (I could also use most of the parts with the RVF-171... ) well I just got mine, but I like it so far. there's a few annoying things; the gunpod is weird (it's clearly remolded from the YF-29 gunpod, but manages to be worse in terms of feeling slightly loose being almost impossible to keep everything lined up correctly), the rubber head lasers are super bendy out of the box and the arm had points had a ton of flash in them, which made getting missiles fitted was a pain the first time. The most annoying thing is that the gerwalk brace is basically manditory on mine. It's not because the back half wing parts droop or anything, it's because the swing bars the legs are on and the chest section don't click together securely enough and if you try to lift the thing by any part but the crotch without the brace the whole thing unfolds into a crazy mess like it's trying to transform into battroid mode on it's own (basically, it's the SV-51 all over again. at least Bandai had the courtesy to include a brace). other than that it's pretty cool. joints are all solid so far and the fighter mode clicks together really well. it feels more secure than the VF-25, but doesn't require a horrible wrestling match to get apart like the yamcadia YF/VF-19s.

Having a ton of stuff in stock at clearance prices at every retailer hasn't been a thing since Yamato went out of business (it was most likely the reason they went out of business). The major manufacturers have wised up to the fact that it's not a good business model to flood the market with product and leave retailers with mountains of stock languishing on shelves. the current trend is enough stock to satisfy pre-orders and a little more, but not enough to sit around and go on sale. From a buyers perspective, it's not as hard to get stuff as some people make it out to be, but you have to follow what releases are going on and get what you want as soon as it comes out. Don't flip out and pay scalper prices, but don't waffle when you see something for retail or bellow. As for things to buy: 1) Have patience, because you'll be able to fulfill wants 1 and 2 some time next year. Arcadia is going slow compared to yamato but they're doing stuff. 2)Here, have an Isamu YF-29 at a fair price. although really, do yourself a favor and get an arcadia YF-19, even if they never reissue or redo the YF-21 and VF-11, it's such a good toy you're doing yourself a disservice not getting one. 3)best recommendation for D~F is stalk Mandarake periodically and look for the things you want to pop up their at a price you're willing to pay. Alternatively, check out the for sale section here. good stuff pops up their regularly, and members here are probably more willing to cut you a decent deal. 4) For the YF-21, keep an eye out on the for sale section, although maybe you'll get lucky and arcadia will revisit it some day. For the Zero Valks, you know they'd never make a VF-0D if they didn't have plans to retool it into at least a VF-0S so again, patience is a virtue. it's more questionable if they'll do an SV-51; it's less likely, but it's a design that could really use a refresh, it would complement the VF-0D. As for the VF-4, join the rest of us in praying for a reissue in 2015. As for Macross R, the only people who have done anything with it so far is hasegawa. someone at yamato (mr. K?) expressed interest in doing Macross R toys before they went under, but nothing came of it.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
anime52k8 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
For those who don't know, said X-wing is apparently from Hasbro's Hero series. That line has, prior to this, consisted almost entirely of 12 inch figures of Marvel comic characters (with a strange foray into transformers). The figures are all hollow plastic with barely any articulation and minimal paint. Everything in the line has been staggeringly cheap and low quality to the point where you'd think they must be some sort of strange Chinese knock offs because there's no way a major manufacturer with actual licenses would ever release something so crap. -
Maybe I'm biased because Athrun is my favorite character from SEED; but I think Justice is one of the cooler looking SEED designs. The RG kit however, is not really my favorite. it suffers from all the same problems as Freedom gundam and then some because the backpack is even more awkwardly large and heavy. In all honestly, even though I like Justice a lot more than Freedom, I got burnt out building it to the point where I never actually decaled it and I still haven't finished building the gun or shield. I really wish they would do a Proper MG of Justice; I swear it's the only SEED gundam that hasn't gotten one and I think a slightly simpler, larger kit would make more room for a solid build (also make painting, detailing, and creating a legitimate display piece much easier). Now I really want to pick up an MG infinite Justice.

If it makes you feel any better, I would totally buy a high quality transforming toy of the space helicopter from Southern Cross. Same goes for the VF-2SS from Macross II. BTW, has there ever been an explanation why the hover tank has the pilot sitting on an exposed seat stuck on top of the vehicle in two out of three modes?

Mine's still somewhere over the Pacific Ocean.

I've got the same two next to each other on my shelf right now and I still can't get over how utterly massive the Tornado-25F is. I'm a little worried that the YF-30 is just going to be dwarfed.

This is all going to go over as well as what happened on bbts during the first release of the renewal-25S.

The G1 toy lacks stickers, so it doesn't have the random swaths of blue and yellow all over the place. Also, the vac chrome gold on the chest looks a lot better than the mustard gold paint on the MP.- 17126 replies

actually, bringing this around a bit: did you know that if you search "taking sexual innuendo too literally" on Google, the first result is a review of Guardians of the Galaxy? I'm not even joking, it seriously does. https://www.google.com/search?q=taking+sexual+innuendo+too+literally :edit: and seriously, said review reads like it was writen by our very own DuelGundam.. it's like a god damn Masonic conspiracy- 344 replies
