Uhm, you do realize that those are externally mounted missiles (not "built-in"), AND they're in the link I posted. Did you actually read it? Or just skim over it?
-
??? Did you see the disclaimer at the top: Not sure how you can get more accurate than that. Unless if you're referring to the black text... PS: the VF-4 doesn't have any "built-in" missiles.

Long after I finished that art (already 1.5+ decades ago!), I learned that the upper half of the engine nacelles/shoulders are actually large rocket boosters. So, the FAST packs don't really *need* rocket boosters on their ends. On the flip side, big honking rocket boosters is soooo Macrossy.

I've only found 7 variants* for it in my in my research. The Amazon link already shows at least one new version (the Recon two-seater variant). * http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/Stats/Statistics/VF-4/VF-4.php#BACKGROUND scroll down to RPG Stats > Variants. Edit: correction, they've added at least three new ones (D, E, + recon). It's a bit hard to make out, but they seem to be continuing on their belief that the VF-4 only became fully transformable from the G variant...

Amazon Japan says Aug. 09, 2016: https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%B4%E3%82%A1%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2%E3%83%96%E3%83%AB%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%BB%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB-VF-4%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%88%E3%83%8B%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B0III-%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB%E3%82%B7%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA-GA-Graphic/dp/4797387661 The publisher's HP says Aug. 10, 2016: http://masterfileblog.jp/news/2016/07/25/6743.html Interesting... as it was scheduled for the end of August, and GA Graphic usually fails to meet their publication date by about a month! Maybe they got their act together this time? EDIT: the publisher's Amazon HP has some REALLY juicy pictures!

It's possible. Have a look at the two-seater VF-17 for a more appropriate example (how the cockpit transforms, in short). If we take that as a precedent, then a two-seater VF-4 would merely have a "mono-boob" that's extended even further in Battroid. However, given how far it sticks out on a single-seater, it might be very unstable in that form. Maybe it could be like the VF-4SL - it's had its arms and rocket boosters removed, and can't transform into Battroid anymore? EDIT: spoke too soon. The upcoming Variable Fighter Master File: VF-4 book has an overhead and side view of an electronic warfare version of the two-seater VF-4D. Guess that answers that question.

Not really. See the opening definition on Wikipedia for the meaning of Kairos, and how it compares with chronos: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kairos (the really short version: Chronos = quantitative time, Kairos = qualitative time; but that leaves sooo many of the nuances out) -

If it's nationwide general album sales (ie not anime only), then it is wow. Or to put it in different terms, it's in the #2 spot on the equivalent of this: http://www.billboard.com/charts/top-album-sales And to put it into context: I'm hearing Macross songs while shopping in supermarkets and department stores (not the music section). -
Agreed. Right now, RL is the biggest blockage. One thing to keep in mind (aimed at the OP) is that some things may never get translated (at least by us regulars). I'm referring to the manga on the list in particular. Reason being is that they are often still in print (or regularly reprinted), and many of us follow the code of not scanning and releasing things (not limited to manga) that are in print. Its only a short hop, skip and a jump for someone else to take our translations, paste them onto scans of the manga, and making that freely available. Also note that some things on your list have started to be translated, but due to their age and the extent of the material, those projects have been shoved to the back burner. Eg: my VF-X and VF-X2 translations: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTmiscbooks.php Continuing with those games - it may also be an impossible task: one has to play the games in their infinite variations while recording the dialogue and on screen graphics, all the while not getting distracted by playing the game and losing focus on the overall goal... and that's just assembling the content!

Untitled Neil Blomkamp directed Alien project
sketchley replied to Kanedas Bike's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I agree. I think it stems from the fundamental nature of the Terminator universe, and what they did with some of the surviving characters from Aliens. The Terminator universe lends itself well to being reinterpreted and re-visualized, simply because each trip back in time starts an alternate timeline. So, even if we lump T1 and T2 together in one timeline (which they may or may not be), T3 and beyond are all in additional different parallel timelines - which also niftily explains the changes in actors and characterization. The viewer can also disregard any and all of those films as they are ultimately inconsequential to the base setting. The Alien franchise doesn't have that luxury. -

Aerodynamically, the lack of a groove (picts 4 & 5) makes much more sense (nevermind how it affects stealthiness). Perhaps they just got too aggressive when detailing the VFs in picts 1 to 3? -
Bandai Macross Δ Mecha Collection Small Scale Plastic Model Kits
sketchley replied to IXTL's topic in Model kits
Stickers. Not decals. As I said earlier (this thread or another), the water beads only assist in the placement of the sticker, and must be carefully squeezed (rolled out) when the sticker is properly aligned. Ref. (most recent that I'm aware of): Hobby Japan No. 565 (Jul. 2016): Pg 019. VF-31J Siegfried Mecha Collection Buildup -

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
sketchley replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'd like to say "Godzilla", but I'm going to go with "The Patriot". 've only seen bits and pieces of that movie whenever its on the boob tube, and it doesn't hold my attention when I go channel surfing during the CM breaks. Haven't seen any of the subsequent movies... so that's that line in the sand.- 854 replies

Macross Δ (Delta) Mecha/Technology Thread - READ 1st POST

Where did you get that name from? ... I ask this, because it has now appeared on the Macross Compendium as an *official* name... And before anyone goes citing more inaccurate facts - the magazine states that "ドバイのタワー(ブルジュ・ハリファ=828m)とほぼ同じ高さですね。 (the Macross Elysion is approximately the same size as Dubai Tower (Burj Khalifa = 828 m))". -

Nope. Looked it up. Name of the Greek god. If it is based on the LV-7, then quite a few of the details have been changed. The most obvious is the wing shape and the built-in (or conformal) pod in the middle of the wings. -
Perfect Memory: Pg 180, bottom left. It gives the impression that it is unfinished (unpolished might be a better word) line art.

It doesn't show up in "Macross 30 - Voices Across The Galaxy Visual Complete Guide". That's neither the name in English or Japanese, and the vehicle! (Unless if its buried in the text somewhere).

Great Mechanics G: 2016 Summer has a bunch of *new* or revised names for some of the Macross Delta Valkyries: Draken III - Sv-262Hs (commander model) - Sv-262Ba (standard production model) - Sv-262Hs Draken III Lildraken equipment Sv-154 The Windamia F-104 based Valkyrie. Doesn't look like it has a name. Scanlation: it mentions that it doesn't have a dogfighting ability - but that could be referencing the F-104 that it is based on. VF-31 series - VF-31 Siegfried (used by Chaos's Delta Platoon) - VF-31A Kairos (used by Chaos's Alpha Platoon and others - interesting counterpoint to the YF-30 Chronos name, eh) - VF-31 Super Pack (no specific name or numeric designation, yet) -
Great Mechanics G: 2016 Summer Released: 2016.06.18 7 colour pages on "Macross Delta". Highlights include: - extensive details on the Sv-262Hs and Sv-262Ba Draken III. - interview with Shoji Kawamori - a note on the VF-9 Cutlass's transformation (connected to the Draken III's transformation) - a bit on the Sv-262Hs Draken III Lildraken equipment - a page on info about Windamia (and a decent section on the Sv-154 (that Windamia F-104 based Valkyrie) - a comparison between the VF-31 Siegfried and the VF-31A Kairos + the VF-31 Super Pack - a bit on Delta Platoon's VF-31 variants and Macross Elysion - and definitions of the "Macross Delta" world's keywords (Umineko, etc) In the Hobby Planet section, there's a whole B&W page dedicated to Macross, with: - Hasegawa's 1/4000 SDF-1 Macross Storming Attacker "Movie Edition" - Furea Vion (sp?) and Makina Nakajima (sp?) non-scale kits from Figure-rise Bust. - Hi-metal R's VF-1A Valkrie - Hi-metal R's HWR-00-MkII Destroid Monster (love the "escalator" to get into the cockpit!) Finally, the "The Military & History" section (featuring real-world equipment) is featuring Saab - due to, you guessed it, the "activities of the Draken III in Macross Delta". Awesome sauce.

I don't know. It could be from an obscure model kit released in the 80's. They were the source of many of the so-called 'accurate' romanizations of Zentrādi names. However, even if such a kit exists and you can find it, there are still the following issues: - do you take the romanizations at face value, and consider them to be correct? Many English speaking fans do, but some don't, like me. Those terms are not transliterations of Japanese into English, but the Zentrādi language into English. - did the people who produced those kits get their information from the official setting (= canon)? Or did they just make it up and get 'rubber stamped' by someone higher up (but not necessarily one of the creators)? If it were a fan-invention, it wouldn't be the first one that is still in wide use. Take the Gnerl fighter. I have never seen that name in print. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but the apparent source of that is dialogue during the SDFM series. That could be the same source of the apparently fan-made name for the Medium Gun Ship - someone (thinks?) they heard something, and then transcribed it in what they think is the Zentrādi language. That's my 2 cents.
