  1. Thanks for the links. There's another option - albeit without the blast deflectors and partially targeted at enlarging the two sets you posted about: https://www.amazon.co.jp/1-144-USNAVY-CVN%E3%80%8CNIMITZ%E3%80%8Dclass-%E5%88%86%E5%89%B2%E3%82%BF%E3%82%A4%E3%83%97-Flight-Deck/dp/B01F6F2E8O/ref=pd_sim_21_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JKW39MW2SZ51KMW372K1 It's at a 22 USD-ish price point for those budget minded builders.
  2. I've heard of (and have had a bit of success with) putting clear nail polish on the joints (that's the 'male' side of the connectors). Apply lightly, let fully dry, test. If its still a bit loose, repeat.
  3. "Yakku Deculture ~ (star) Kawamor~something something 2016.10.23"* * Even the wife (Japanese) says that his notes on the lineart is illegible!
  4. I'm not sure if it has ever been clarified that Fold Carbon is an entirely synthetic material, or not. I think you're putting too much stock in the 'day to day uses' of Fold Carbon in the VF-31, and ignoring the 'special uses' aspect. Perhaps considering it in terms of what is the Siegfried using Fold Quartz for, and what the equivalent would be in the Kairos would be more helpful. Edit: and I forgot to mention this in my preceding post on the topic, too: we're looking at this from the Macross F perspective and definition of Fold Carbon and Fold Quartz. As Kawamori-san has indicated that each Macross series is more or less unique or independent from the others, we can't neglect that the definition of Fold Carbon/Quartz may be somewhat to radically different in the Delta version of the Macross universe.
  5. That's 'Sketchley's Translations', PATY. Also, it's not Fold Carbon 'rocks'. Just Fold Carbon. More info: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/MCRtechnology/08aOvertechnology-SpaceFold.php
  6. Picked this up, and promptly forgot about it... anyhow: Great Mechanics G: 2016 Autumn Released: 2016.09.17 10 colour pages on "Macross Delta". Highlights include: - 2 pgs "Protoculture and the Brisingamen Globular Cluster" - 3 pgs Q&A on the series with Mr. Kawamori - 3 pgs Q&A with Mr. Chiba, with definitions of Delta keywords in the upper half of the last 2 pages. - 2 pgs "Post AVF Project VF Genealogy" (that'd by the YF-19 to VF-31 Siegfried by way of the YF-24 Evolution), with a row along the bottom on the 'Sv Works Series' (all 3 of them...). In the Hobby Planet section, there's a whole B&W page dedicated to Macross, with: - Hi-Metal R VF-1J Super VF - Figure-rise Bust Mikumi - Gimix (Tomytec) VF-31J - Bandai Mecha Collection SDF/C-108 Macross Elysion - Wave VF-4 Lightning III - Gimix (Tomytec) Sv-262Hs and at the bottom, the "Macross Modellers Latest News": the Hasegawa RVF-25 and Sv-262Hs.
  7. Ahh... so everyone rushing to watch this, is what broke the internet yesterday.* * half the sites I regularly frequent were timing out. Damn trans-pacific fibre optics cables >.<
  8. To put it into context - the Oberth Destroyer was rushed into production during the 10 years after the landing of the ASS-1 and the arrival of the Zentradi (the SDF-1's Space Launch). It's reasonable to believe that the reaction weapon technology in the Oberth's missiles are the fruits of the initial efforts in reverse engineering the OverTechnology in the ASS-1, and are, just like the Oberth itself, woefully under-powered. If memory serves, the RMS-1 missiles carried by the VF-1 have a similar punch to the RB-5 missiles (in the sense that a single RMS-1 can incapacitate a Zentradi Destroyer - the same as the much larger RB-5), implying that even within that short decade, the potency of the reaction warheads has increased by a couple of orders of magnitude (the human-head sized warhead in the RMS-1 has a similar yield to the VF-1 cockpit sized warhead of the RB-5). Some other things to keep in mind: - the use of reactions weapons was restricted by treaty after the end of SWI. So, despite the capability to make bigger ones, there were political reasons not to. - Frontier introduced such fun (or annoying) things as Dimension Eaters, Heavy Quantum, and so on. Which messes things up, as Reaction Weapons post Frontier may not necessarily be operating under the same physics as the Reaction Weapons in earlier series. Oh... and I remembered the opposite end of the spectrum - the 10 gigaton anti-fleet (not anti-ship!) monstrosities in the Varohta Fleet Flagship! (and no, the Varohta weren't restricted by the arms treaty ) http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/Stats/Statistics/VarohtaFleet/FleetFlagshipSpaceCarrier.php#OFFENSIVE_SYSTEMS
  9. Officially? I think the only ones that were given official numbers are the RB-5 reaction missiles on the Oberth Destroyers: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/Stats/Statistics/Oberth/OberthSpaceDestroyer.php#OFFENSIVE_SYSTEMS (remember: green is official setting. Black is speculation) Somewhere in Macross Chronicle (if memory serves) it says or implies that the Zentradi once had those weapons, but due to a loss of the production plants, they couldn't make new ones; and due to use, loss in combat, and time (the half life of the reactive elements was surpassed), the weapons were effectively 'lost'.
  10. Consider it in context: fans who bothered to vote on the anime available between Sept. and Oct. in ONE publication.
  11. To be honest, despite it being official, I'm not using Xaos either. I'm translating Japanese to English, not to Greek! And before anyone says something... just remember that in Japanese it's spelt Kaosu. Why should us English speakers have a more difficult time enjoying Macross than the Japanese fans do in their language?
  12. Lilldraken is the name I went with in my translations. Mainly because of sites like Wikipedia* that write it that way and the Japanese version** of the pages that use the same. * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_210 ** https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%96_210
  13. There's also written stuff on it... somewhere. I can't name it right now, but I remember being surprised because it was about the TV series version, not the movie version (probably Macross Chronicle... re: Deep Akiba or Akihabara).
  14. First known use of Monkey Model in connection with Macross Valkyries: http://nomansland.site.nfoservers.com/MRG-Active-Archive//forums/index.php?topic=2667.msg41083#msg41083 (2011.01)
  15. So... Tomytech didn't get the message? Or is this a case of the people doing the subs not getting the message? (After all, [Dr.] Chiba Masahiro is much more trustworthy than the unknowns producing the subs).
  16. Wait a second... Is it planet "Laguna" or "Ragna"? The English speaking world appears to have adopted the latter, but the scans provided by Graham (thank you) above say the former. And where does Xaos come from? If its only from these kits, doesn't the Laguna/Ragna thing put it into doubt?
  17. Funny you should say that, as just yesterday in my current Macross related translation project I came across a paragraph that basically says that the timeline is intentionally left blank in parts and is effectively rewritten to suit the latest project (or in other words - any given timeline is only specifically relevant to the series that it was created for, and broadly relevant to the other series).
  18. Great Mechanics 10: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTgreatMechanics/OTgreatmechanics.php#GM (Pgs 98-99 in particular) Finished. A few parts add a bit more insight into the tactical situation of M0 Ch.3, but, overall, it doesn't really add very much to our body of knowledge (in English). T.T;;;
  19. I think the part about commercials in a streaming service reflects their business model - the consumer pays for the medium (cable, streaming, and in the case of comics: printing), the ads pay for the content itself. So... is it a lack of foresight or understanding of the medium on their part that makes them 'have' to include commercials?
  20. Thanks for mailing me that link. Guys, he's referring to this: http://deagostini.jp/select/detail.php?id=7711 If memory serves, that was a limited print-run mail-in-only item during the "MC Rev. Ed."'s publication run. Apparently they still have some stock left over. (I also find it cute that they're referring to it with the Gundam-esque "Earth Federation Forces Skull Squadron" - maybe that's why they're having trouble selling it [nevermind the price]!).
  21. Just to clear things up: Macross Chronicle: 2008-2010 Macross Chronicle Revised Ed.: 2013-2014 At the time of writing, I am unaware of any plans to extend, continue, or reprint that publication. We're also operating under the assumption that it was Kawamori-san himself who came up with the numbers. It's possible that other staff in the creative team - staff who are less-well versed in such things - did the numbers. It's even possible that Bandai came up with the numbers, and Kawamori merely rubber-stamped them after giving them a cursory once over. It would be nice to know exactly how they arrived at the numbers and who was involved. Alas, the last I heard about anything on that side of the production was in regards to Macross Zero, and it involved Kawamori-san getting Dr. Chiba to come up with them. I'm not sure if that working relationship continued during Frontier, let alone Delta.
  22. Great Mechanics 11: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTgreatMechanics/OTgreatmechanics.php My initial translation was sorely in need of a cleanup. On top of that, I opted to do the magazine's synopsis of the anime. I'm glad I did, as there are a few things mentioned in it that I haven't come across before. Of course, the magazine's misidentifying the Octos as two separate Destroids is amusing, but on the other hand its analysis of the moves used by the Valkyries is insightful. I think I just may go back and polish off the similar sections in GM 10 because of those kinds of things. PS: Yay! Almost no pesky accents to deal with!
