  1. Ok ok man. You're taking this way too personally and seriously. You've out-nerded me on his one man. Don't even know where to begin. But I take it you are a big Dullta fan. Not going to judge. To each his own. I'm obviously not. Let's just agree to disagree. I'm obviously angry after avoidong watching this series for as long as I have avoided it as I knew what it would be like. And it turned out to be even worse than I had expected. Thank you for the hospital recommendation. I'm sure I don't need to explain the mechanics of hyperbole to you but my brain didn't actually melt. Physically at least. Going back to Roy and the Gaijin stereotypes. How many years ago did Macross air? THIRTY FIVE YERS AGO (wow time flies) and people STILL love Roy. Post a picture of a Pine Salad with a few droplets of tears next to it and any Macross fan will know it's a Roy reference! Might even bring a tear to their eye. There isn't one character (except for maybe one of the Idols) that anyone will have that kind of affinity for or even remember the name of 35 years later in (sorry if it's too childish for you but I'm not sorry) DULLTA. Because to me I it was DULL man sorry (again not really sorry). Well I guess I am if you liked it. I really don't mean to crap on your taste. I just didn't like it and as I said I just recently watched it so I know I'm rather salty.
  2. I see your lolwut (which already tells me your approximate age and maturity level) to my statement and raise your lolwut to your entire reply. Yes if the only two options are lady boys or Marlboro ads I'll go with Marlboro ads every time. Yes I'm quite familiar with Japanese culture. Been there twice. I even own a few Nihinto. I know quite a bit about Japanese culture and about Kabuki Odori. I was obviously exaggerating but point is Alto looked more like a girl BEFORE putting on his Kabuki garb. My biggest problem with Dullta was well everything except the mecha. The dull characters, the boring plot and pacing. The music was nice and the mechs were cool. That's it. I feel like this anime exists just to sell music cds and downloads. And as for the Roy and Marlboro comment yes in familiar with the negative Gaijin Stereotype and Roy's embodiment of it. I'm also familiar with just how popular of a character he is despite that. I guess the Japanese stereotype has become little boys who don't have public hair yet. Guess they're are no adults in Japan. I'm saying they need to mix up the nationalities and personalities and ages. Not everyone needs to or should be your Marlboro ad man but not everyone needs to be under 15 and look like a chick? While they're at it I guess they could come up with an interesting plot that is well written with interesting characters. That couldn't hurt either.
  3. This new series better be good. I see a trend I'm not liking after watching a bit of Macross Dullta. Every Macross has Idol / Idols, music as a weapon, transforming mechs and a love triangle. The thing I see shifting is men becoming girls. It started with Basara in 7 and continued into Frontier with Alto the cross dresser (nevertheless I liked 7 and Frontier) but Dullta everyone is a girl. Even the "guys". That's not why I do not like (or at least not entirely why) Dullta but it didn't help. Where are the real men?!? Where are the drunken womanizing insanely heroic 5 o'clock shadowed men. You know the ones who look like they've gone thru puberty. If this new Macross series isn't good I might just have to stick with buying the toys only and avoid the anime like mind herpes. Cautiously optimistic...
  4. So.... I watched finally three episodes of Macross Dullta. That's what I'm calling it. Sorry, This is not Macross. And this is coming from a guy who liked (not loved) Frontier and Macross 7. Sure it had a "love triangle" if you want to call it that. I'd call it high school hair pulling. Sure it has transformable mechs. Sure it has singing. Horribly written crap and why do the main male protagonist men in Macross now have to be 15 years old and look like girls? Come on man... I know that's what's en vogue with this new liberal generation of gender bending liquid genders. Men that look like women and women that look like men but if you're going to stick to the Macross tropes of love triangles, idols and Valkyries. Well then where are the real men. The Roy Fokker types? Ugh. My brain melted. And why is THIS crap the first official Macross disc release with subtitles?? It's just not fair man...
  5. I have a hard limit on these Arcadia 1/60 releases of $200 or less. I bought the recently released Roy 1S and paid $235 and I love it but sorry these things are overpriced as all get out. That was the first of the Arcadia 1/60's I had purchased as I've been quite content with my Yammy 1/48's. I have around 15 or 16 various Yamato 1/48's (still my faves) and never paid more than $150 for one of those. Even the Yamato 1/60's were less. The Virgin Road 1J I paid like $130 for brand new shipped. I just checked. Anyway even though I'm perfectly content with my 1/48 Max / Millia at this price I jumped on the 1/60. Can't have enough Max and Millia 1J's. Now I guess I gotta keep my eyes peeled for an under $200 Max 1/60 lol.
  6. I feel like I need a few of these, cool but pricey http://robotoybase.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=4255&search=Macross
  7. And that's why I stopped buying from Hobby Search long ago. Tired of the frustration of items getting sold out 4 minutes after they post a sale and never restocking. It's always that or they email me that it is restocked and by the time I get the email and click link it's sold out again. Or my favorite this scenario like this putting something on sale for a price you can't refuse when they clearly have like 3 to sell because it's sold out in minutes. Don't even visit their page anymore. Amiami or Mandrake only
  8. Hey man if I'm gonna wish I'm gonna wish big
  9. I asked for a Millia 639 DYRL figure so I can finally have a poseable Millia in my old Yamato 1/60 Queadluun Rau!
  10. I bought the Max and Millia pair and a VF-1J Hikaru. If they want me to buy any more then they better start cranking out the DYRL variants. Or release that GBP-1S armor already. Preferrably in a stand alone armor set.
  11. I'm a sucker for SD stuff and I'm a fan of these (but only at the sale price I paid on KC's website). These are not worth over $50usd each IMHO. Decent metal content although some is in unnecessary areas just to have it while some is well thought out like the area towards rear that the backpack hinges on. My only three criticisms are MSRP is crazy, lack of landing gear and my biggest criticism being the arm articulation being very restricted. You cannot even point the arm straight forward nor straight down at sides. I also feel like the fighter mode is kinda odd/awkward looking as opposed to squat or cute like the original JMs. That aside they are decent toys and scratch my SD Valk itch well. Much bigger than I had anticipated also. If you've got the Master Made Makuros SDF-1 they jive very well with it. And if you don't have the Makuros I just found a duplicate MIB in storage that I'll be posting for sale in next few days along with a few other items lol
  12. Agreed. I'm impressed with these things. Especially since they started out as unlicensed 3rd party toys. I was expecting Joke Machine sized toys. These are big and heavy. Look great with the Mastermade Makuros.
  13. You guys should check out the RetroBit RetroCade. Can be had on Amazon for $59 and is an Android based Mame home console. Playing Macross SDF, Macross II and Macross Plus on it. As well as about 250 other arcade games I loaded onto it via SD card. This has. now trumped the RetroFreak as my go to retro system. Also plays SNES and Genesis and a few other home console ROMS. Like every version of Mame it doesn't play EVERY game perfectly or even at all but it plays about 88% of roms perfectly. Macross Plus is a little choppy due to the rendered graphics but plays ok.
  14. Just found this. I recently bought the Max Mirya set directly From Kitz' webpage ($88 shipped for both) and gotta say. For the money these are really great. If you dig SD like I do they're a must have. ESP on sale.
  15. That was my point. That the VF-2SS (and all of their other products) is made out of ABS, it just feels and looks like it's made of Polystyrene. Which is why it feels and looks more fragile than it is.
  16. The plastic on this and every other one of the Evolution Toys products that I have bought feels excatly the same. Cheap thin model kit quality plastic. But the thing is , it isn't. That's just how it feels. All of their products are relatively sturdy. Never broken one, play with them like normal. It's just something about the feeling and finish of it that feels waaaay more cheap and fragile than the average (I won;t use names) toy company and yet it isn't actually as cheap and fragile as it looks and feels. Can't quite put my finger on it.
  17. Got mine. It's actually better than I expected. I can tell you this guys, stop wishing for the Evolution Toys V2 improved release. It won't happen... This is like the 8th product of theirs that I've bought and I can tell you this is about as good as it gets. Everything they make uses the thin cheaper feeling plastic and they all have niggling little flaws and design choices. This is the same as their previous toys but honestly I feel like they went "all out" to make a quality product in comparison to all their previous releases. I can't see this company ever being able to make anything better than this. If you're hoping for a "better" VF-2SS then pray another company takes a stab. Or just be happy with this imperfect one as I am... Actually I wish a 3rd party Transformer making company like Fan's Toys or Gigapower would migrate over to Macross. I gotta tell you some of their stuff is made better than the official Takara licensed stuff. The Fan's Toys Dinobots and the Gigapower Guttur (Snarl) are amazing and fantastic toys that are better IMO* than most of the official Masterpiece releases. Also I just got the Weijiang oversized KO of MP10 (creatively called MPP10 LOL) Optimus and it is one of the most robust well made solid toys (I'm talking Chunky Monkey solid) I've ever handled. It shames Takara/Hasbro. So much better.. Even if you're not a Transformers fan or collector check a review on Youtube of it (along with the Reximus Prime upscaled KO of Grimlock) that compares to the original Takara releases and be amazed. In a world where there are companies now making KO's that exceed the original licensed release's quality and engineering I get excited to think about some of these companies possibly turning their sights towards Macross with the anniversary and the new series release on the horizon... Mmmmm A guy can dream can't he??
  18. I know it's not but I have no doubt it will be similar in build quality (or lack thereof). Their Dynamite Action line always share a few qualities. They feel like a hybrid of a Model kit and toy, they feel fragile and fiddly but look great and employ questionable design or assembly choices. The VF-2SS is no doubt going to check all of those boxes. But until the V2 comes along or another company grows a set and attempts to one-up Evo Toy's effort, I'll get it and love it. And also hope that Bandai announces their attempt at a VF-2SS soon. Even though it would be a Tamashi Exclusive limited to 300 preorders and cost $350...
  19. Sorry to go OT but with all he Evo Toys talk it caused me to bust out some of my Dynamite Action toys of theirs last night. Sorry for the cruddy pics. This is why I love them..
  20. All I've seen and everything I've read (anguished English and all) sounds and looks exactly like what I've been expecting, So I'll not be disappointed. The leg bars on underneath are fugly yes. But so are the bars on all my Bandai 1/55 Chunky Monkies. I still love those for what they are. And I'll love this too for what it is. The VF-2SS that has been teased and promised by other companies but never delivered and that I've always wanted. I remember watching Macross 2 via U.S Renditions looooong ago when it first hit VHS and being wowed by episode 1. That wow gradually turned to disappointed up until the last episode where I was just shaking my head in disbelief at the train wreck my eyes had just bore witness to. Yet afterwards I still though that all the mecha designs from that show HAD to be made into toys and HAD to be added to my collection. They're still some of my favorites.. Kudos to Evo Toys for having the salt to make this bad boy so I could finally add it to my shelf!
  21. First review is already up. Looks like exactly what I've been expecting to receive. Not line art nor anime perfect, Not Yamato/ Arcadia and certainly not Bandai quality. But I haven't seen Yamato/Arcadia's nor Bandai's VF-2SS yet since they don't exist so I won't complain about it. From what I could glean this is still not the final product and It seems the hinges, knees landing gear and ankles are diecast and the eyesore screws and hinges on the tailfins will be painted white on final version. I like how the wings can cant upwards. http://s.ameblo.jp/digitamin/entry-12085022976.html
  22. Nah, Laserion never didn't for me. I have Big Dai-X, Shin Jeeg, original Jeeg, Getter Dragon, Metallic Getter Dragon, Shin getter Dragon, Bryger, Gaiking, Daikengo and 2 Mazinger villains (forgot names). None are perfect. All have some niggling imperfect item or design choice. All are (IMHO) over priced for what I got. Thrilled to own all of them. They tick all the boxes for me.
