That's pretty asinine. I e-mailed them once with suggestions about how to best design the Beta (mostly rachet-jointing certain parts), and I'm certain I mentioned the Floppy Arm Syndrome on the Alphas in that e-mail. If they consider this more of a design flaw, then they're just being petty about semantics. But enough talk about Toynami's deluded perception of reality......Let's get back to them Beagles!

Man, what's with all this talk about Millia's Q-Rau kicking VF butt, Destroid ass, and all sorts of unholy hell?! Don't make me bust out that old pic of Max putting Millia's Q-Rau in its place.

No. Only the most decisive and determined of people can handle the bastard love-child that is the YF-21. Did Guld have to consult a committee before he volunteered to take on the Ghost X-9?!!

YF-21: kid tested, eugi approved.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

Yup, low levels of radiation. I think Baltar advised the scout folks not to drink the water in an early scene too. Probably was a big factor as to why they left. -
Of course not, but it's an outright shame that no toy company has made a large-scale, updated version of the franchise's signature ship (strict adherence to the 1/60 scale be damned!). Yeah, I know we have the smaller Wave version. But I want something with enough heft and enough gravitas to show the casual observer that this ship, this robot is the head honcho. Heck, it's pretty damn shameful that we have the Macross Quarter coming out soon, but no original Macross anywhere on the horizon (not that I have anything against the Macross Quarter being produced, mind you ). With the length of the main guns being a factor, the SDF-1's definitely gotta be between 2.5 feet and 3 feet long to fit my personal criteria.

Sometimes going through the darkness makes you appreciate the returning light all the more. I think you can forgive the show and this episode specifically though. I mean, c'mon, their whole mission, their single-driven purpose, their ultimate objective was to find Earth and settle with their lost bretheren. I think you gotta give them a little leeway since that plan went straight to hell in a nuclear handbasket. Of course they're gonna be cynical and feeling depressed! Heck, just look at our own world for a milder example: we're currently going through a standard economic recession, and yet, everyone is feeling a little more down and cynical. It's just a part of human nature. As for the Cylons getting integrated into the fleet and us getting a look into the Cylon culture? Umm, yeah, I guess a TV series with part of its focus being on a mysterious/unknown enemy who attacks your planet, has a slightly different culture (or lack thereof) from you, and winds up eventually being integrated into your society just doesn't jive all that well with you......especially when the title of the series is the name of the main capital ship, such as Battlestar Galactica or Macross. -
BSG Poll: Who do you think the Final Cylon will be?

Did we ever get enough folks to jump in on this? Looks like gets the "I Told You So" kudos. -
2.5 to 3-foot long TV-STYLE SDF-1. The namesake of the franchise needs to be an imposing sight for the eyes, towering/lording over all of its offspring and charges. Since I'm nearing the end of my mecha collecting, only this (and maybe some 1/60 Regults) would pull me out of semi-retirement.

I think my initial reaction during all the big revelations (other than the one that's been spoiled out on the Internet for awhile): WHAT THE FRAK!!? I know I've said it in the past, but it begs to be said again: Col. Tigh is THE FRAKKEN MAN!!!!!!! I loved, LOVED, LOVED that scene of his on the ship! Wonder how the whole "harbinger of death" will play itself out. Of course, we also still have Athena's and Roslin's opera house dream that needs some explainin' too. Here's hoping they keep this kind of pace and reach a good resolution/conclusion. -

No comments on the two-hour premiere? Not too shabby. I always get a kick out of Jack's "interrogation" methods. Though, that Hollywood-style roll off the boat seemed a bit cliche. I'm a little worried about 24's re-treaded plots rearing their ugly heads again (moles and crazy First Spouses who may know the TRUTH!!), but we'll see how the season pans out. Lastly, I know I'm too much of a sci-fi geek when I start noticing the guest stars based on their work on other shows, such as: 1) The Engineer Guy being played by Dr. Phlox from Enterprise; 2) The a-hole Senator being played by Red "Dumbass" Foreman (or if you prefer, the bad-guy from Robocop I); and 3) The mid-level/middle-management-type terrorist dude played by freakin' Methos!

^^Yeah, it was an AWESOME quote!!

While you're waiting for jenius to do a proper comparison pic for your request, I did an almost similar comparison pic back in the day: Link. The differences: 1) Used the 1/60 Version ONE VF-1, instead of Version Two. 2) Used the 1/60 YF-19, instead of the VF-25. 3) No Beta linked to the Toynami Alpha (since the Beta hadn't been released yet). Additional pics (but not in the fanned-out style you requested) can be found in this thread: Link.

If I was to remake the Alpha or the Legioss, there's a few things I would do to improve the build. If at all possible, I would try to stay with the general look and sculpt of the Toynami/Imai version, but improve the following: 1) Get rid of the die-cast in the arms; it weighs them down unnecessarily. 2) Find a way to make the shoulders/missile launchers rachet-jointed. Anyone that's handled an Alpha knows how frustrating the Floppy Arm Syndrome can get. 3) Redesign the hands, and make them out of much more solid material (POM perhaps?). 4) Either ratchet-joint the hips, or make the design similar to the hips on the Yamato 1/60 YF-21. The Alpha/Legioss has practically the same transformation sequence as the YF-21 in that hip joint area. 5) Try to make the landing gears just a little bit longer. It's shameful that there's so little clearance between the ground and the Alpha/Legioss chest. 6) Either try to make the design tolerances a little more forgiving to get a nice and tight fit in fighter mode. Or up the bloody hell out of the quality control. The last one will probably be the hardest, but it's probably the one that's most responsible for a lot of the problems. The Toynami/Imai Alpha is a fairly complex design. And one screw-up at the factory can lead to a crooked or improper fit at the head, arms that can't open because they were glued shut, a torso that keeps collapsing in battloid because someone didn't glue it properly, weak hip joints that allow the whole upper body's weight to flop over if the legs are positioned too far to the front or back, ugly gaps in the fighter mode because some part won't collapse properly, and a host of other mild to downright massive flaws.

I'd still like to see how CM's Tread looks panel-lined. Especially since it appears to have more lines and grooves etched on it than the Toynami Beta.

Pffft , try having your Yammies survive a real, genuine California earthquake!! -- As I posted last summer, I came home after a somewhat minor earthquake and found my FP'ed Stealth VF-1J had taken a nice little 5-foot stage dive onto the wood floor. The good news: other than a few FP items popping off, she didn't take any real damage at all. -- My 1/48 GBP-armored VF-1J Hikky also took a stage dive that day. It looked like a worse fall with a bunch of various armor pieces and missiles scattered all about. Although one of the legs had popped off at the hip, everything else on the Hikky and GBP was undamaged and was easily put back into place (including the popped-off leg). -- The biggest surprises? 1) The Q-Rau and 1/60 V1 Valk I have posed on flexidisplays didn't budge or nothing. 2) My FP'ed 1/48 Roy shares the same bookcase that the Stealth and Hikky fell off of, and yet that drunken bastard Roy was still standing tall at the end of the day, totally unaffected by some little earthquake!

Minmei: <unintelligible, annoying, self-centered diatribe> Hikaru: <SLAP!!> ************************************************************************* <After Isamu finally apologizes about wrecking his high school plane> Guld: "You owe me 11 lunches." That's probably the only line where the English dub was better than the original Japanese script.

Finally saw the missing Webisode 9. ....So, THAT'S what Baltar whispered in "Butterfingers" Gaeta's ear.
