Kitz Concept Toy Thread 2.0
Radioguy replied to Stampeed Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Keep in mind that Eaglemoss did the same thing with some of their lines, especially Star Trek, and it didn't help them survive. I was gonna say the same a couple pages ago, but Toynami ships domestically, and affordably. Sadly, the comparison doesn't apply there. Again, the shipping disparity nixes that argument on the whole. Plus, Toynami has a habit of doing the opposite - initially issuing bare figures, and then fast pack versions as the standard release. Agreed, there's no comparison on build quality, but I wouldn't draw comparisons between these as comparable. HMR seems more like a Toynami killer right now with their price drops on the VF-0S in particular, and that at least is a comparable scale.- 1795 replies

Have to agree. SS's rep is tarnished now. I feel like their expanding the Core line came with cutting corners elsewhere. They shouldn't have ever touched SS, but it's feeling like they have.- 16207 replies

They have the strike cannon though. We know that. I wish they had done that too for this. I'd sooner expect him to have a strike cannon too.

I wasn't going to have a Dr Pepper Zero, but after so much quoting, I feel I have to now. No one start a thread for it or else I'll be in serious trouble.

Be nice to walk down a street and see a garage sale of Valks. 4 for $20? Sure ma'am. 😁 Stuff of dreams...

Yes, I asked for this earlier somewhere too. So, definitely some added heft for the 0D which might change handling opinions.

if there's a found horde like those model kits recently, I wouldn't be surprised. I'd be overjoyed.

Folks having Toynami moments with these is something Bandai needs to nip in the bud.

I really like that the Fugu clear covers are simply transparent red in normal light. I'd love a variant where most of the figure were like that too.

Not for me then. Having a figure that size which can't transform or isn't articulated, if by design or license limitation, puts me off no matter how well sculpted or intricate it is. I want it all if I can have it on smaller scales already.

It's been said (in this thread I think) that the VF KO strike parts do fit an Arcadia. I actually haven't tried to see myself though. Those parts are on eBay, and places like bababobo if you want to try them. The clear "mechanic" covers, also from VF, seem to only be on Aliexpress last I checked.

KC hasn't gone that cheap yet. They know well sales are affected by their stated shipping quotes. I have a feeling those are more flexible than they say.- 1795 replies

I guess that solves the implied conflict...unless one of them eventually sues HG saying it really doesn't and the other's sales hurt their bottom line.- 1795 replies

I have the Valkyrie Factory Hikaru and Roy, strike parts, and clear covers. They're very similar to Arcadia, but you can tell there's something slightly off; just not the smell. At the prices I paid, they were worth it. The Max and Millia (on average) are not worth grabbing compared to second hand Arcadias of those (which I did) as those can be found at comparable prices.
-
I agree on TZ, especially the deformed head, but I will say I want to see it up close before I turn my back on it completely. I read some good things about the proposed build quality.
-
Oops, on me for skimming. Yes, I know the Valkyrie Factory Max/Millia versions have been out there along with Hikaru and Roy. I thought @Hiryu meant more than those. (CF, Angelbird, etc) If those are available somewhere, I'd love to see where.

So, this license is not ending before TZ releases their same scale Robotech valks? Again, I remain surprised.- 1795 replies

Me, it's cost and space, and I tend to think that's true for most who go all in on HMR. If I had the money and space, it would be DX for all, and for the original series, I really try to make that happen. However, I have opted for HMR in the meantime, and especially for Zero and Frontier, etc. Might I sell off my HMRs one day? It's not impossible if I do get all the larger scale ones I want, but I still think I'd want to keep some. I should add that when you have large hands, like me, HMR can be a chore to transform compared to Arcadia or DX, so that IS another factor for me too.

I know, I know, I don't want to be labeled a shill for them, but they do have it and it's the one thing I ever ordered from them, and it actually arrived fine. https://premiumlunapark.com/collections/macross/products/dx-chogokin-vf-1d-valkyrie-fan-racer-japan-version
