  1. Having finally acquired a Yamato VF-22 not too long ago, I have to say I’m not overly pleased with Bandai’s effort. Fighter mode is too chunky, there are too many markings, and given Bandai’s lack of QC these past few years I have no confidence they’ll put these out either working or looking correct. We’ve just witnessed a time where Bandai had a nigh-perfect toy in the VF-31 and then took all that engineering and completely screwed up the 31AX follow-up. So nah, that’s a no from me.

  3. Some stuff from Eaglemoss was excellent: XL Excelsior, XL D-7 K’T’Inga, and all of the Star Trek Online ships I got because they looked nifty. Some stuff was just bad, like the Probert Concept Enterprise-C that had half its tampo missing, or the USS Aventine that was awesome… except that they didn’t paint the blue warp grilles on the nacelles, and its massive main deflector was a monochrome blue. Had to get a decal for that. Their tiny USS Centaur was superb though, beautifully built with perfect paint. The last thing I bought from them, the Lower Decks USS Titan, was very well made So I dunno. They seem to have had an “A team factory” and “everyone else” and it was kinda random which ship would get made by which. Kinda ticked I won’t get a copy of the USS Bonaventure though. Awesome design I wasn’t even aware of until it sold out and they never restocked.
  4. Nobody liked John Malkovich devouring vast amounts of scenery?
  5. Love the sculpt, but where’s the camo paint on her thighs?
  6. Received mine. Hips and ankles are solid, the kneecap armor is floppy however. Overall it’s a nice piece with good paint. I’m honestly not sure I’ll hold on to it though. I bought Michael’s Tornado Parts for it and I’ll apply them tomorrow. See if that grows on me.

    Arcadia VF-5000G

For display value. Plus it looks bad ass with reaction missiles.
  8. Farewell, Nichelle. Thank you for giving inspiration to generations of girls.

    Arcadia VF-5000G

Looks like the canopy won’t hinge sideways. Inaccuracy on this level can’t be forgiven!
  10. Doesn’t look like the ventral fins fold, but the nose cone might. Armored Valkyrie might have big ol’ legs.

    Arcadia VF-5000G

Given the 5000 was designed to be kinda cheap and it was Shinsei Industry’s first produced VF, some similarities to the VF-11, which was also intended to work in atmosphere as well as in space, are unavoidable. It looks like Shinsei were so pleased with the transformation sequence in the Star Mirage that when Project Supernova came along they saved resources keeping the “core mechanisms” of the 5000 intact and “hung” all the bits that made the 19 off of it.
  13. Such an excellent actor, playing so many roles such as Sark in Tron and Evil in Time Bandits, not to mention roles in Star Treks V and VI.
  14. How I saw it: we have had some Star Trek episodes that were humorous, but as a whole the series was quite serious. Lower Decks reverses that, and puts the notion that the Star Trek Federation universe is nigh-perfect and everyone has a place in it, on its ear. Plus Miles O’Brien has a statue and is acknowledged as the single most important person in Starfleet. Job’s done.

    Arcadia VF-5000G

Hopefully there’s still time for Arcadia to refine things. The head laser pivot is big and blocky and, at least in this pic, wasn’t or couldn’t be recessed into the head in fighter mode. But hey, it’s a mass produced Star Mirage! What a world we live in!
  16. Hi all. I have a Yamato 1/60 VF-11B. Missing the left air intake cover. If someone could point me in the direction of a replacement, I’d be grateful. Thanks!
  17. Reminds me of the enemy helicopter, the HX-1.

  19. As far as what Earth might have done with better knowledge of the Zentraedi, I think we see that in Macross Plus: layer upon layer of remotely-controlled, or perhaps semi-autonomous, defensive gun and missile satellites.
