Would You Buy A New Perfect Variable 1/60 Vf-1?
Uxi replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
Yes. The size and cost would both be more managable than 1/48. Design? The existing VF-1 design could be used. Ditch skeletor hands entirely and go with swappables to save cost. Same with the headshield. Incorporate the rest of the 1/48 design (telescoping feet, swing bar, nosecone, flaps, etc) scaled down with the swingbar, BP-7, and BP-8 metal and everyone is happy. My existing 1/60s (Max, Roy, GBP, 2 CF and Hikaru Super) get turned into custom fodder or previous "block" versions. -
Yes! Definitely. SO many of the 1/48 improvements can be scaled down, from the telescoping feet to the airbrake to the basic transformation. Make the swing-bar and the thrice-damned BP-7 and BP-8 joint metal and the existing 1/48 design would work scaled down. Due to the space savings, I would definitely buy 2 or 3 CF and another Roy and Hikaru. They can then do a Regult and Glaug and I could cash in one of my IRA's.

I love the 21/22S. The VF-X license has been used before, so it should be again. Light blue 22S... mmm.... makes me happy to think of it. That also gives us a chance at the VF-17, which also makes me happy! As far as the 21, the 1/60FP impved most of my gripes... the larger size should take care of the rest. Even with that design, they still have room for improvement but mostly in a refining rather than revolutionary way. For example, there is plenty of room in the large underbody panels to pull them tighter in. Maybe a slight redesign of the arms. Put telescoping rear landing gear in and they extend through the doors in the FP (which themselves can be made much thinner already. I'd even say to mold in flattened gunpods, if not redesign the gunpods themselves (maybe 'cheat' and make the gunpod stock area itself compress from the top down, kinda like a VF1 foot.). A more normal head and avoid the skeletor hands. I would love if there was some way to do morphing wings but can't see that happening anyway but bad. I would definitely buy multiple VF-11's, especially if they included the B&C nozzels.

I like. I've passed on the Roy so far (kinda kicking myself when I missed my chance at $120 at Frank & Sons), but will most likely get this.
-
Looks awesome. My main question, where is the 21? I'll probably wait out the first release. VF-19A seems inevitable... hopefully we'll get the VF-X Blue... But what I have always wanted is a 1/60 VF-22S...
-
I saw these at Frank & Sons and was fairly interested as I was quoted $15 each. As is, I have enough VF-1, I think... if they do enemy mecha and destroids, I could be persuaded to get some VF-1 and more for customizing... as is, I'll wait and see.

This is what I ALWAYS thought Megatron should be. The whole shrinking gun thing (even to transformer sized, much less human sized) was always kind of ridiculous to me... A tank doesn't work because he has no tank pieces (tread, etc) and there are OTHER transformers that do that. Megs should be a big 155mm arty piece M198 or M777...

I like my Alphas (2 green, and 1 shadow), and was thinking about buying more for customizing (using extra UN Spacy kites I have around from my Yamato stickers, for example). That skull squadron custom looked good, too... I would buy a Beta/Tread, but not the first one (let others guinea pig). Green and Shadow for certain...

Ah, good to see the boards back up. I'm mixed. I like the way the robot modes look but think they're TOO far out there. I would prefer Prime to look like his anniversarry/masterpiece form, for example. They chose edgy instead of nostalgia, which is fine, but not what most of the adults who grew up as kids watching transformers would like (who may be thought of as going to see the movie or never going to see the movie anyways).

Didn't I read something crazy somewhere that TOS was no longer canon in ST? Anyone heard anything like that? I really don't want to see other actors in the TOS roles, but I imagine that's what they're likely to do... Most likely it will be a horrible raping of childhoods.

I have a 60" 1080p display (though it only accepts 1080i on it's inputs). I'm sitting out the format war and dedicated players until at least next year, though I will almost certainly get the higher end PS3. Even if nothing else pans out with Blu-Ray, it will look much better with my silver HT gear and let me retire my launch PS2 with the noisy fan to bedroom duty (on the 34" CRT HDTV), as well as let me play whatever PS3 games there are, my PS2 and PSX libraries, as well. I am considering the 360 HD-DVD add-on, but it really doesn't go with my HT setup and I just don't like the dual form factor. I would be much likely to sell my 360 premium and get a new SKU that had an integrated HD-DVD drive (and hopefully an HDMI output). While Toshiba/HD-DVD wins round 1 (against Samsung), it appears to me that Blu-ray has much more CE support and much more studio support. By Christmas season, the Sony, Pioneer, Matsushita, and Sharp Blu-Ray players will be out, as well as the PS3. What other, non-rebadged Toshiba players can we expect? The studio support should show far more titles on Blu-ray, as well, barring a studio flip-flop, which might be not be unexpected... For computers, Blu-Ray is undeniably superior, with far higher transfer rates and capacities.

I drool to think of a Yamato VFX VF-17D in 1/60 scale
-
The legs look funny on that one. I have my Hikaru -1S displayed with Strike Armor as is only proper... but I may have to get another 1/48 of some stripe for the GBP... I'm not sure I like the way the CF looks... my Low-Viz are only proper in Gerwalk or Fighter.... Roy-1S... wish I could still find a 1A max out there (for relatively cheap, no less)...

Mac 7 / VFX would be my hope: YF-21/VF-22 YF/VF-19, VF-17, VF-11 in that order, please. I would kill (or at least pay good money) if they could do a Metal Siren and VF-2SS from Mac II. Next, I would like the Regult, Nos Ger, and Glaug.

Ninja Scroll 10th Anniversary Special Edition DVD
Uxi replied to Angel's Fury's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ah, definitely gonna need to shop around for that 10th anniversary. I also only have a VHS copy (and I haven't even plugged my VCR into the SXRD, though it is sitting there in the HT center). -
You don't, but Sony does. Sony doesn't give two licks about the console segment, much less the XBOX 360 itself. Sony's crosshairs are on Toshiba and HD-DVD... The PS3 is Sony's budget first gen Blu-Ray player. They have the gimped version for people like you. They arguably should have gimped it even more. They should have the price on the gimped version at least to $399 but that may not have been possible. If you don't want need Blu-Ray, etc then don't bother bringing up $599 as $499 is for you. If $599 bothers, you most likely don't give a lick about HDMI, etc and 20GB is more than enough. You don't need to worry about memory cards or any such, either. That the specs of PS3 compare quite favorably to the 360 (especially with the reputed price of the HD-DVD add on, MS' price for their OEM wifi, etc) and outperforms it, too, as well as exceeding the technical potential of the Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player (1080p > 1080i) is Sony's goal. Even so, I'll be very surprised if the $599 price point remains for very long. Certainly for the initial run, which is about guaranteed to sell out (I'm very interested in anyone thinks it WON'T). I'll bet by Christmas 2007, PS3 is at $499/$399. Prices that people are willing to pay HAVE come up. I never thought the PSP would have been successful due to it's price point and feature set versus something like the DS... but it has been. The XBOX did not make a significant imprint in Asia and the 360 has been lackluster. This shows with development and PS3 is going to have more wow titles sooner. I enjoy my 360 premium but there are still no MUST HAVE titles and except for Oblivion and GRAW I haven't been playing it so much recently...

That sounds like a really cool project. I have half a mind to try and see what can be done for M7 since the subtitling is pretty crappy in places on all the the bootleg sets (mine, the F/X sets, etc).
-
The helmet and chest armor are entirely different. Excellent work for a general Mandalorian, though.

I am not getting hardly any hits on Macross 7, which is surprising. I got this set off ebay a couple years ago and it apparently has all of the extra bits that the FX set has. The entire season in one box, but not Dynamite 7 or "The Movie" (aka The Galaxy is Calling Me). That looks available from here. I have no affiliation or experience with that site, since (as I mentioned), I got mine on Ebay. Good set with decent translations, though the fan subs are better.

Oh... me myself I'd be most interested in 1/60 since that's the only scale I have a enemy mecha (the Q-rau, though a Regult would be MORE than welcome, as would an SV-51/52, etc), the VF-1 and the VF-0 at... I could certainly see the interest in having a few 1/48's but as with my VF-1, I only would ever intend to have a 2 or 3 of the 1/48 with the bulk of the collection at 1/60 (or smaller).
-
I was looking at my VF-1 (1/60 and 1/48) and was just imaginging what Yamato could do with a 1/60 scale YF-23. Moving flaps, air brakes, etc. Separate flaps and ailerons, rudder etc should be more than possible since transformation wouldn't be an issue. Maybe even guns on the inside. I would love to have a YF-23, F/A-22, F-14, etc. Obviously for the larger planes, 1/60 and 1/72 become more cost affordable than something like 1/48...

Yen to Dollar is your most likely culprit. Then... when has anything not increased in price over a certain amount of time?
