  1. Hopefully, they give him that opportunity in the coming episodes. Only the best serve on the best: another reason I disliked PineKirk. He only demonstrated an aptitude for utter bs and booze, not the critical thinkiing, tactical, command and strategic skills that were a hallmark of James T. Kirk. JJtrek's version of the Kobiyashi Maru looked more like a frathouse prank than the tactics of a clever cadet who was serious about graduating. And I think that's why Prime Kirk got a commendation while PineKirk nearly got court-martialed: presentation and attitude. I would think those would go a long way when it comes to giving someone the benefit of the doubt. More like "obstinate and contrarian" in the case of Discovery; maybe Starfleet put them there to get them out of everyone else's hair! lol So what happens if Burnham breaks the crystal in the future? Does that undo everything? Sorry... just hate to see ol' Chris end up a melty briquette in a hoverchair. Right: it sounds like the varying conflicts merged together as they grew, until it became a world war. You do have a point; that said, being confined to a hoverchair as a virtual vegetable has got to be the worst kind of hell for a man like him. I think his mind was still fairly clear, though his body was irreparably broken.
  2. Nice!! That reminds me: I need to get a Matchbox Roy Fokker fig sometime...
  3. I tbelieve they were saying the overall conflict caused WWIII, as they showed a bunch of riot scenes. I think the intent was that things got way out of control in general and led to the Eugenics Wars, which led to WWIII. (note to mods: no attempt intended to make a political statement here. please nuke my first comment if I erred. ) As for Pike: one way he could avoid his fate is a transporter accident like the one that created Thomas Riker. I'd be okay with it if Pike had a double that took over while him and Una quietly left to go live in Montana.
  4. With those kind of gaps, I recommend Devcon Plastic Welder. You're going to want something stronger than regular putty that will hold it solid and be sandable without cracking, as well as take primer and paint well.
  5. ^Ladies and gentlemen, the above needs to be required reading for ALL script-writers for any Star Trek show/ move from this point on.
  6. To me, they were more a badly-done parody of the TOS characters (unfunny ones at that) that magnified the bad parts and left out the good ones. As for Into Darkness, that had the title correct: they were pretty much in the dark the whole blasted time about what made Star Trek work to begin with. Pretty much, they were flailing back and forth after they found out that their take on TOS was DOA. I think Admiral Clancy's comment to Picard would serve well here concerning Bad Robot and their crew. Lens flare in the JJprise series: "Hey! What if we put photon torpedoes inside the ship?! Huh? Wouldn't that just be so kewllllllllllll?"
  7. It does when your wallet takes the hit no matter what. On that note:"affordable" has different meanings to different folks, and "just three kits" is often four kits more than I can afford. So, I'm out of this convo regardless then. -Pengbuzz out.
  8. Well, that's not their fault: it's the animators IMO. And frankly, having to get all three is a PITA when money's an issue.
  9. Yeah; I have yet to go to my local Aldi's and check on that. Will try to do so soon when my spine and left side aren't acting up.
  10. Thanks @Thom ! Now I just need to find a couple of parts for one of my Imai VF-1's; the two "sliders" that connect the chest plate to the main body (and hold the legs in fighter/gerwalk mode) are busted and need replacement, and trying to make my own is a bit out of my reach. O.o Good think Ebay only charges a bajillion dollars now for those kits, right? (cue sarcasm lol )
  11. UPDATE: Finally got the Enterprise done (just a few very minor nitpicks left): The other craft in the diorama (over Saturn, which needs a ring fabricated for it) is Casssini, the probe that we sent to Saturn and eventually crashed into the planet's atmosphere: Finally got the Nacelle Bussards to do the same thing as the smaller one (turorial coming soon): And of course, now the ship joints the Micro to Macro Club: Just try convincing the other members to "keep their hands/ mouths to themselves" though!: Thanks for watching...see everyone next project!
  12. Not to mention it kinda helps if your stealth fighter isn't say white against a night backdrop. Still kinda dark, but tends to show up better, right?
  13. Would it help if you elevated the backdrop slightly?
  14. Well, I would say a 1/72 kit isn't the best vehicle for that; that said, what about a kit that had more room and thicker plastic for it? I mean, they did it for the 1/60 and 1/48, after all...
  15. I'd like to see someone do a transformable VF-1 kit that doesn't fall apart like Bandai's from a few years ago.
  16. As I recall, stealth also includes shapes that allow the craft to deflect radar back at an angle that doesn't allow the correct radar return to happen. An example is the F-17 Nighthawk, that had a faceted design with a tail section that took advantage of how radar works. The F-22 Raptor also has stealth tech and much of the craft's internal design is still classified. I had to fudge quite a bit on my stealth valk design, as design considerations and design choices caused me to put some stuff that was not so stealthy, so I don't know it it truly qualifies. But at least I made some effort to try to get much of it to where it wasn't reflecting radar like a mirror ball! That said though: paint job and coatings alone do not a stealth mech make.
  17. Yeah... it would have been better if they just resurrected Hugh as the Borg King or something.
  18. I spent the past 48 hours or so trying to assimilate (pardon the pun) all this info as I learned it via my own resources. Frankly, the best thing they can do with this series right now is to flash to Picard lying in bed dead, with the OG cast gathered around him. Dr. Crusher: "He's delirious...the Iromodic Syndrome is in it's final stages. I don't think he has much longer left." Riker: "He kept mentioning something about 'pizza in the woods', whatever that means". Worf: "Yes, and about a 'Borg queen' and "Q dying". He must be delirous." *everyone turns to look at Q* Q: "Well, don't blame ME; I certainly didn't give him Irumdic Syndrome".
